I recently ordered a pair of goggles that indicated they had polorized automatic lenses. When they arrived they only had polorized lenses. When I called Zeal to see why I received the wrong lenses, they told me it was a «typo on their web page» and I would not be receiving the automatic lenses. What a classic bait and switch maneuver! If it was indeed a mistake on their web page, since the order I placed was clearly for polorized automatic lenses, I should have received those lenses. This is a really bad business PR practice. I won’t ever order anything from this company. They are just not honest. Too bad.

I know this is silly, but the technical sunglasses I wear while setting running PRs… I prefer them to be street-savvy enough to also accompany me around town. Sport sunglasses are largely too cyborg or just have too much going on to blend in with my civilian clothes. That’s what I liked about Zeal’s «Lift» model — it was simultaneously THE lightest weight sunglass of any company(which is how I found them) and subdued just enough to be plausible with my everyday outfits. Also unique among sport glasses was its single-lens design, which gave me a range of vision like I wasn’t wearing sunglasses at all. Its main downside was its sure, slow, out-of-warranty deterioration: first the ear grips, then the nose pads, then the arm screws fell off. It’s not like I was wrestling or playing rugby in them — I was just wearing them. At the point that mine were finally stolen, they were and weren’t a big loss. The only other detriment I’d say is that they actively bobbed up and down as I ran. I remember running races with one hand on my glasses to keep them on my face. Practically speaking, the motion must have been originating from me, though I believe I have comparatively little vertical displacement in my stride. Ups and downs aside, Zeal seems to have ceased production of the Lift. Now I have no idea what to do, for current sport models don’t work with my plaid. Some resellers still have Lifts, but I already know they’ll break down easily despite being my sunglasses of choice.
