Mitchellville Plaza’s China Chef’s food has gone downhill in the last year or so. It used to be phenomenal. I’ve used them for 18 years, but now it’s terrible. The«beef» had the texture of the leather I imagine motorcycle chaps are made of. The curry chicken(not something I usually get) tasted like what I imagine a dish with the main protein being a muskrat. It didn’t taste clean. It’s supposed to be chicken. Shrimp dishes you run the risk of biting into mushy(past their use) and sometimes undercooked shrimp. Vegetables don’t seem to be rinsed. They must have changed management/ownership. The folks there don’t care what they put out as a product. They’re more concerned with sales. The food was better before they started accepting credit cards. Maybe they make up the difference lost in transaction fees with the quality of the ingredients? I have yet to mention how rude they can be at times, even to each other. I was once there and they were about to throw knives at each other. Now I’m lost trying to find good Chinese food again. It’s like finding a good barber at times.

This place use to be top of the line! Unfortunately, last time I ordered from them the food was sub par, and the lady I spoke to was absolutely rude. Time to find a new carry out because I won’t spend my money here again. :(

I just moved over here and needed a quick bite to eat. So I went here and ordered 3pieces of chicken with fries. Nothing major. It was good the wings were defiantly great. They could’ve gave me more fries however, their service sucks. I called today to place an order and the lady was screaming through the phone saying what do you want! Customer service is a plus for me so if you don’t have that then you won’t get any money out of me.

My husband and I came here to grab a quick lunch before heading on over to Six Flags — there was a lunch special menu from 11am to 3pm, all at $ 5.35! The entrée comes with your choice of pork fried rice or white rice and a wonton soup or an egg drop soup. My husband had the Kung Pao Chicken where it came with fresh vegetables. The chicken meat itself was a little odd in texture and color, but he still enjoyed it. The soup was okay, too, with two large soft wontons in it. The place was clean, and the service was very efficient. The menu also offers appetizers, soup, lo mein, moo shu dishes, and chef’s specials. There is also a coupon for 2 free cans of soda for orders over $ 20.

I find if I order the foods that use grease, like chicken hunan, my stomach hurts. Otherwise, the Hunan dishes are good. I prefer the combo fried rice, which has a good flavor, or the noodle dishes. The fried chicken wings are huge. They are a little cheap on the Mambo sauce and expect you to pay for a little extra. They also yell a lot. They do seem to work pretty hard there though, and wait on you immediately. Not much seating, but most people take out.

I like China Chef. There food has always been fresh, tasty and not too salty in my opinion. I’m from New York City which doesn’t make me an Chinese food expert in anyway, but I’ve eaten at many different restaurants in all 5 boroughs. China Chef is the only restaurant I like in my area in the 6 years that I’ve been here. I would give 5 stars but I find the Chinese food restaurants in MD very expensive.

This is the worst take out I’ve ever had. I ordered the moo goo gai pan. Bland, greasy and flavorless. Two bites then I threw it out. I will never set foot in there again. I wish I could give it 0 stars, but it’s not an option.
