Despite the reviews here in Unilocal, this is really not a food destination. Sure they serve some basic over the counter food in the back, but this place is really just an antique store. Since I’m not into antique, this place didn’t hold my interest.

My husband and I went here with a couple of friends. We’re vegan, and while they had limited options — your basic hummus wraps and flatbread with hummus — it was DELICIOUS. Seriously might be the best hummus I’ve had. The staff was super nice, and they explained most of their ingredients are organic and local. Wish they had more options, but still highly recommended. Support them! They’re friendly people who care about their food and customers.

The Fabian House is a house that was turned into an antique shop. It also has a vegetarian café in the back with some vegan dishes. They have soups, sandwiches, salads & desserts, as well as my favorite– soy chai tea lattes!

Growing up on the edge of Old Bowie– I am so pleased to see the Fabian House spring up in popularity and seem to be doing well. This is a converted row-house that is quite eclectic. There are some«antiques», 60’s/70’s novelty items, «fair-trade» items, new handmade items such as purses, jewelry, etc., furniture(there’s also a family-owned furniture store adjacent to it with quality handmade products), household items like salvaged door knobs, books, pottery, organic baby items, pictures, etc. There is also a vegetarian café in the back– with wonderful sandwiches, breakfast, desserts, etc. You can always find something at the Fabian House. To top it off you couldn’t ask for nicer people that work there. A married couple jointly runs the place and it really feels like something out of Mayberry, but better. Take a trip over to Old Bowie and visit the Fabian House for lunch and some shopping… you won’t be disappointed. Note that its open Wed.-Sun. 9 – 5 I believe.
