This restaurant is not recommended at all. We came in at 11:00 on a Friday morning and the place was empty. We were here for 2 hours as we watched the lunch crowd came and went. Service was not good to say the least. I had 3 young girls with me that wanted a waffle. They were served frozen toaster waffles for the price of $ 6.95 each. Beyond unacceptable. What a disappointment!

Great stop for breakfast. Enjoyed the cozy lodge atmosphere. Fantastic service! Our young kids were kept entertained with a choice of coloring books and she even brought applesauce out to them to hold them over until our food came. Tasty breakfast and wonderful rye toast. We will visit again when we come back to town.

This was a really great place to eat for our first dinner at Boyne. Typical bar food, but the restaurant is super cozy and the staff is great! My husband and I had friend pickles, and the chicken nachos for starters. The pickles were super greasy, but still pretty good. The nachos were fabulous! Our meals were ok. I had the black and blue burger which was good, but my husband had the chicken fingers, and you could tell they were straight out of the Grocery store box. We can’t complain other than that because we showed up about 40 minutes before closing and were never treated poorly. Overall, the restaurant is super close to Boyne, and worth a stop in if you’re looking for good food that you don’t have to prepare yourself.

Due to lack of snow at Boyne Mountain this winter thus far, most of the restaurants at the ski area were closed, so this was our go-to place for breakfast! I have always liked this place for the cute décor and proximity to the ski area, but now I love them even more because I know they’ll take good care of me there, even with my restrictive diet. The waiter named Diane remembered what we liked from one morning to the next. The chef was very willing to make changes to the menu items for me. The steak and eggs worked fine for hubby and me. We split the one huge breakfast between the two of us, and he added pancakes as desired. You get a six ounce steak and two eggs, any style. I had them add some sliced veggies. Bro had a different three-egg omelette every morning. We also had dinner there once. I had the whitefish dinner, minus the breading. For the near future, we’ll have to do our skiing vicariously, watching the World Cup skiers on TV. As soon as there’s more snow at the Mountain, we’ll be back, and stop in at «our» place for some skier fuel.

I love hole in the wall breakfast joints, so I was really looking forward to this place. Especially because my husband has been in the past and loved the omelettes. We were greeted and our drink orders were taken in good manner. Thankfully we ordered our food at the same time. While waiting for our food I was able to drink two cups of coffee, but not without prompting the server that my coffee had been gone for quite a while. Our food finally arrived(about 30 – 40 minutes later), and my two over medium eggs were over cooked, and my 1 piece of toast was cold. The hash browns were lacking, and I found a long dark hair cooked into the middle of them. So I ate my 1 piece of toast, and part of both eggs, and half of my husbands piece of toast. He finished his omelette and loved it. Typically in breakfast joints like this, if the service is poor, the food makes up for it. But neither the service nor the food was worth more than two stars. The two servers couldn’t keep up with the customers and the bussing of tables. Many tables were left dirty until someone came and sat in them, and then they would clean them. If we come back to Boyne Falls, I might suggest trying out a different breakfast joint, if there is one.

Don’t judge this one by the outside! It may look kitschy, but for being the only restaurant in the immediate area, it’s a solid choice! Service was helpful and friendly. Food isn’t fancy, but tastes like grandmas home cooking. Cozy bar has a log cabin feel. Not at all over-priced, like similar joints in the Boyne City/Petoskey area. Favorites: perch dinner, fried green beans, fries pickles, and pumpkin pancakes. A must stop!

The Mountainside Grille was wonderful! Everything from hearty breakfasts to fresh lake perch to poutine! I would definitely recommend the fried green beans and fried pickle chips! Also the Stuffed Pumpkin Pancakes were delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating our large group of 11 adults. Very comfortable and cozy inside. We were only here on vacation, but if we ever make it back into town, we’ll definitely be back!

Stopped here at the end of August for lunch. Very cool N. Michigan mom and pop place. The whitefish bites were fantastic. Perfect breading and lightly seasoned. Great service as well.

* Delicious hot chocolate * Warm, family environment * Restroom was without toilet paper * Restroom is too quiet; you can clearly hear the awkward noises of the human body * Slow service * Friendly people

We stopped by here after a looooong day of hitting the slopes at boyne mountain. There was a huge group of us and they went above and beyond to satisfy our needs. We arrived just as the kitchen was closing exhausted and hungry, But Jo was there to serve with a huge smile on her face. Many in our group decided to try perch«caught fresh just for mountainside» from lake Michigan. It was delicious! I personally ordered the pulled pork which was also wonderful and tender. The kareokee was at the bar The regulars were always ready to lend a singing hand. We had one of the greatest times and it was a refreshing break from boynes over priced and crowded bars and restaurants.

Nice place in a small city, but… .. . We enjoy the Boyne area often and support the local businesses, Mountainside almost the only place in Boyne Falls. Boyne City has a lot more places and is 5 or 6 miles away. Anyway, Mountainside is nicely decorated as bnoted in other reviews and has a nice little bar too. The food is usually pretty good, good breakfasts, etc. We like to stop in for pasties they get from the U.P. We took some friends there to get pasties but were disappointed they were out of beef, so we got chicken. They were alright but I like the beef better. They are served with gravy for around $ 9 ala carte. We ordered appetizers and that was the big dissapointment. We ordered poppers and a nachos. The poppers were pretty much what you’d expect — 6 or so for $ 6. The nachos were pathetic! They sent someone out to get Tostito chips when we ordered them. Upon thier return they thew a handful on a plate with some cheese and nuked them. If there were 15 chips on the plate I’d be surprised, completely flat across the plate, no heap or mound at all, no sour cream and no salsa served with them and the cost was $ 7! We complained and they took $ 2 off what is normally given for free at a bar to get you to order drinks. They should have just removed them from our bill. In contrast, the Red Mesa Grill in Boyne City serves a nachos for $ 8 that is mounded on the plate with lettuce and tomatoes, with cheese, guac, sour cream and a great in-house salsa. For $ 2 more you can get some chicken or steak added. Most all of their appetizers are very good(like armadello eggs or quesa dillas) but that will need to go in a review of the Red Mesa! So we’ll still go back to Mountainside, but would never consider ordering an appetizer more than the basket of fries from now on.
