Nico’s is our small town pizza joint but man do they do it right. :) We have pizza at least once a week from them. The crust is not dripping oil like so many other pizza places and they have a very helpful and friendly staff. Thanks, Nico’s

Was really excited to try this place when my husband and I took our 5 kids for a SUPRISE vacation to Avalanche Bay, ay Boyne Mt. for our daughters 6th birthday. The whole drive up there I was Unilocaling places to eat and/or carry out at, and since I knew we’d be eating pizza one day for lunch I chose this place. The few previous pics were very helpful and the price was right too. Bonus, it had beer/wine/liquor for mom and dad to enjoy a cocktail(or few) on this vacation. Their everyday special is a 1-topping large pizza for $ 7.49. That’s a great deal, IMO. It was legitimately a large too, 10 big slices. Not some larges at some places that are actually mediums.**Finger shake at those places. We got 2 larges, one with sausage and one with mushrooms. The sausage one was good, no real complaints, the sausage was nice size pieces and there was a fair amount on the pizza. The mushroom one was made with fresh mushrooms, not the canned kind. So if you enjoy that, like we do, than that’s a plus. I do know some prefer the canned kind, so take note that they are in fact fresh. Again, no real complaints. Totally worth the price. The pizzas were round and they did not have a option for flavored crust, which is a bummer because there was a fair amount of crust on the pizza. I would think its not that hard to bump up your game, and offer flavored crust– especially if your toppings/sauce/cheese don’t make it within a good distance to the edge of pizza. Another thing, and its a personal preference, I would have liked to have had a little more sauce on the pizza, as it seemed a little dry. And even more so the next dry when we went to reheat it in the oven. End story, its worth the $ 7.49 price, not the best I’ve had, but good to get. We will return, ill just remember to say extra sauce next time. The deli salad were Meh. Some were bulk package and some were homemade, but nothing really looked fresh. I tried the cucumber sauce, as I was hoping to get a big tub for the weekend, but I just didn’t taste right. So I passed. There was lots of options for smoked meats and cheese, a few lunchmeat and cheeses and pre made sandwiches. This would be a great place for a golf/ski/long trip at Boyne Mt. if you were looking for quick lunch fixing for sandwiches or things to pack the hotel fridge with. They also, like I said, carry beer/wine/liquor, if you like to indulge in adult beverages. :) All in all, mom and pop type place that’s like your up north type 7 – 11. Odd are, you need it, they have it.

I had spied Nico’s when we started using a different path to the family cottage. Curious, I read the Unilocal reviews and decided that it might be prudent to program Nico’s into my phone in case we ever were in need of a hot pizza during our trip. I was rewarded for my foresight when we were on the road and didn’t want to wait too long for dinner. Since we’d be swinging by Nico’s, why not order from the car? We ordered the Nico’s Meat Supreme, which has pepperoni, ham, sausage, ground beef, meatballs, bacon and tomato sauce & cheese. Had them add onions & green peppers. Really hit the spot, because there was enough protein to counteract the bread. The crust is very nice. Whole wheat and not too thick. Not the least bit gummy, but I could tell from the bite of the whole wheat that it might have been OK left in the oven just a bit longer. We got a simple side salad, which is romaine lettuce and tomatoes with grated cheese on top. Plenty for the three of us. Refueled, we continued on our journey. Nice to discover this place. Near Boyne Mountain Resort.

Great food. They have pizza, grinders, wings and salads. The people are friendly and are all about helping you. The pizza had a great flavored sauce and had just enough toppings on it. They have a sitting area to eat pizza but it is no big deal. You can eat your purchased pizza or stuff from the connected store, but no one will wait on you. Just some tables in a room, not an actual dining area. Attached to place is a store that has a deli counter where you can buy cold subs and salads. They also have beer, wine and liquor in the store. So you could say a one stop shop. They do deliver. This place is worth trying.
