Leaving another mega-sized new home community in west Boynton… If I had gone east I would have seen people, gas stations, restaurants, buildings, et cetera; but no, I went west toward no-wheres-ville. I’m a bit hungry and need gas, but there is not much out in this area other than palm tree farms and other agricultural businesses. It’s like the perfect area to discard a murder victim. I see a gas station/food market… fueling time and possible eats. Inside it’s more or less like any gas station mini-market, except for a couple hot cases with average looking food like veggies, lasagna, fried chicken and more. They have bagels and make sandwiches and even have jamaican beef patties. It’s kinda odd; includes jewish food, italian food, southern food, caribbean food… And then the crème de la crème, an entire case of made on the premises mexican and other latin eats like cuban sandwich(with mayo lieu of yellow mustard), spicy sausage on cuban bread, arepas, potato & egg wraps, soft shell tacos, burritos. Nothing looks delicious but the prospect of trying something was still somewhat exciting; kinda made me feel like Andrew Zimmern’s sidekick on Bizarre Foods show. Here’s what we had: Three soft shell tacos: the package said beef but who knows; could have been armadillo or horse meat… I’ll never really know. One was super hard, one was super mushy and one was just right… but all were drenched with grease. The first bite shot grease all over my shirt; after a few bites there was not a single spot on my hands that wasn’t glistening with grease. We’re talking DEFCON1 messy. Spicy sausage on cuban bread: the sausage was wrinkly and dry on the outside but plenty soft and moist in the center. The bread was hard enough to hammer nails into a board. WEWEREWARNED that it says«spicy» on the package. We acknowledge and the clerk emphasized, «it’s really really spicy». Turns out we should have listen, that shit was HOT ! ! ! My experience here was unusual and exciting but at the same time I wouldn’t eat here ever again. Maybe i’d eat this stuff again if perhaps we were in a post apocalyptic world and there was nothing else available.
