This place was horrible. I was not able to look at the actual unit that was rented before moving as it was not ready and I was moving from out of town. 1) The cabinets in the kitchen and the bathroom were coming apart. We could not even use several of the cabinets/drawers in the kitchen. 2) One morning I walked out to my car to find that my car was towed to another spot on the property due to repaving. Unfortunately they forgot to tell all of the residents(there was a posting on my building but on the other side of the building in a spot that I would never have seen(which was not a message board — just taped to a wall). The next morning they put a notice of repaving on my door. A day after it was finished in my area. Interesting enough that the letter they put on my door was actually dated the day after they towed my car.(I still have the letter and would be happy to scan and share it if anybody is interested.) 3) The sprinkelers for the grass would flood the grass/sidewalk right in front of my apartment and the sidewalk would covered in mud. The foyer was so small that you had to step on the carpet to even close the front door. I notified the office at least half a dozen times about this. They never took action. About a week before moving out I spoke with the office staff about this and asked if I should get a carpet cleaner before turning in the keys and they told me not to worry about the carpet.(I was told that my unit was being renovated after I moved out on several occasions.) I received an e-mail today that they were charging me almost $ 450 due to a stained carpet. I will be speaking with them tomorrow. If they waive it I will update my review. 4) On multiple occasions I caught the maintance staff plugging their power tools into the electrical outlet on my patio that I pay for. The office did apologize for that. It was the one and only time I was treaded decently the entire 14 months that I lived there. I would not recommend living here to anybody.

An easy and quick rental process thanks to Alfredo. The on line application process is a snap. The property itself seems clean and maintained. The apartment I rented has an overwhelming cigarette odor, but has all new appliances. The location is central to everything. So far so good… Fingers crossed…

Horrible customer service! I specifically asked for a high ceiling unit and paid more for it. They were unable to show me the unit until the day of move in due to the previous tenants still living there. When I walk in, no high ceilings, when I go to the office they still tell me it is a high ceiling unit until they finally realize they made a mistake. I end up taking the unit because there was no other high ceiling units available. I moved in on a Friday, Friday night roaches start to come out of the kitchen sink, since the office was closed, we went to target and bought spray. The following morning, there are still roaches, I go to the office to complain, they tell me the exterminators are closed on the weekends that I would need to wait until Monday. At this point I did not unpack any kitchen stuff and had to order take out as there were roaches inside the cabinets, in the sink, dishwasher, floor, everywhere. Finally Monday they sent out an exterminator while I am at work, when I get home, still roaches. I gave it a week and finally told them I needed to be moved as the unit was not livable. At this point, they were generous to reimburse me for the moving company I used and I was able to hire them again to move me to another unit. This other unit was fine and they did give me a lake view unit, which was more expensive, but because of the inconvenience, they left it at what I was paying for the other unit. When I moved out, I turned in all of my keys, except for the facilities key, I forgot to turn that in. Next thing I know I am receiving a call from collections on the key and my last water bill. I contact La Costa as to why I haven’t even received a notice of this bill and to let them know I still have the facilities key and I can drop it off with them, they had written down my wrong new address, they tell me they attempted to call me about the key, but no voice mail was left, no email was sent and they couldn’t tell me what days they even tried contacting me. I reached out to the CEO where he said he would look into this issue, I am still waiting to hear back from him until this day. I have always paid my rent on time and left both my apartments there like new and this is the way I was treated. I still have the key to the facilities and had to pay $ 50 for the key. Luckily,(after they told me they couldn’t) they retrieved the bill from collections. I paid them, but will never recommend this community to anyone.
