Had dinner here last Saturday night! Our server Megan was fantastic, flawless service. The whole staff was spectacular. On to the food, still in my opinion the best food in Bozeman. Well done, very well done!

After having John Bozeman’s Bistro for the second time I am now choosing to review this restaurant, because of my horrible experience. This past friday night I sat down for dinner in the back of the restaurant around 7:30pm. Mind you it was very busy and I was lucky to get a table without a reservation, which I found very accommodating. The hostess did seem very stressed, maybe she was new but still did good. I was greeted by our server Megan who was not pleasant in the slightest bit. She was very rushed and wanted to rush our dinner as well it seemed, and was very short and rude about the few questions that I had. She started off by saying what they were out of, for a Friday night that early on i was shocked by everyt

«Way better than it was last time we went several years ago, under different owners. Really like it now!» Sorry, I waited a few too many days for this review but I will try to recreate some accurate specifics. Both my wife and I both liked the place this visit for dinner. We had not been in several years. It used to be more stodgy and a much narrower food menu, as we recall. Our neighbor encouraged us to try it again now. It is a more«cheery» atmosphere now. We both ate dinner(we each had different, great burgers and fries(HUGE and messy and so vey yummy, and both were cooked perfectly Medium rare!) and a drinks(no desert) for only $ 36, plus tip. They let us substitute raw onions on one instead of the standard grilled onions… not all places let you substitute/customize, so that was nice. Shortly after we arrived, a huge«group» cam in and they were nice enough to be sure our order got processed before that group, and they sat us in a booth up by the bar, somewhat protected from the group’s noise. Very friendly, helpful waiters. By the way, we did not try it, but their French Onion Soup looked awesome and the wait staff said it IS awesome! We WILL be back! Visited October 2015

We were in town for a wedding, we were tired of road food, burgers and fries etc. So we asked about a good place to eat at our hotel. They recommended John Bozeman’s so off we went. We had the Salmon wrapped in potatoes on creamed spinach, the ribeye with mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes. Clam chowder, French onion soup, Crab cakes and the calamari. ALL of it was AMAZING. Our server Sam was great friendly and fast. I did read reviews before going and saw a few that were not great. I have to say those who didn’t have a great food experience or good service I am sorry but my dining experience was nothing short of Divine! I am not sure if I will ever be in Bozeman again but if your visiting definitely try this place.

Every time I’ve eaten here it has been wonderful. My favorite dish by far is Ty’s Thai, which my father and I get almost every time. It’s a little pricey and the booths a little small, but I have to give five stars just for this mouth watering dish!

Have eaten here once before, and my experience was similar to the that of the 1 – 3 star reviews from the last couple years. Food was ok, one of our two dishes came out lukewarm after a significant wait time, and pricey for what we got. I didn’t review them then, not having had a Unilocal account or a smartphone. Why am I reviewing them now, a year or so later? Yesterday I visited the new brewery that just opened up next door to the bistro, White Dog Brewing. I was angered to see a flyer posted at every table that John Bozeman Bistro will give you a $ 20 gift card to their establishment if you rate them 5 stars on Unilocal.I have a picture as proof but don’t seem to be able to post it with my comment. Will leave it in the pictures section of their page. Fair business practice? I think not. So there you have it, people. Unilocal, you should do something about John Bozeman’s dishonest attempt at raising their ratings. EDIT: Having written the above review two days ago, I have since received a personal appeal from the owner, Mr. Wenzal, asking me to remove my review. Additionally, he made it sound as if he «had no idea this was bad practice», which I find hard to believe. Apparently he has hastily removed all signs in the form in which they are depicted by my photo. FYI, potential restaurant-goers.

Great food, sweet service, nice wine, and they were willing to adapt to menu changes . Light bulbs a bit bright over booths; we just unscrewed it and then we both looked sexy! Lighting is important. Music good too. My only complaint would be the obnoxious diners who were speaking loudly((woman)) about their achievements and exotic places they’ve been… But bad me for eavesdropping! Seriously tho, go. It’s amazing food.

Ate here a while back and the service started off great. They have local microbrews on tap. The food… it was so good that I did not know whether to finish it all even though I was full or take some home for lunch the next day. Good portions and came out hot(very important to me)!

Fantastic service! The staff is very friendly and efficient. I have even called them from White Dog Brewing and they delivered the same quality food very fast! Awesome place to spend an afternoon!

Seems like this place has been struggling for years to find an identity. The ambience is really bad — outdated, mish-mash of vibes. The food is average at best, and dinner is way overpriced(low value per buck). Now serving greasy snacks for nearby white dog brewing and associated distillery. They are offering a $ 20 gift certificate for giving a 5 star rating on Unilocal — sketchy, manipulative, and desperate. Spend your money somewhere else, please. Let’s up the game in Bozeman with some healthy competition and honesty.

We went to dinner at the Bistro with a group of 20+ people we were hosting for a conference. The service was top notch! I don’t think I have ever gone out with a group that large and had service that made it feel like I was in a party of four, until the Bistro. Food for the whole group actually came out at the same time and it was all fresh and tasty! Drinks were kept full and dessert was offered when we were ready. Split checks arrived mistake-free and without fuss. It was like they could read our minds! I went for a bison burger and fries, both of which were great, and my neighbors who ordered other dishes were happy too. The key lime pie for dessert was tasty, and others enjoyed the mud pie(gigantic!) and chocolate lava cake. The Bistro does a great job, and it’s an often overlooked spot to take a big group.

GREATSERVICE!!! Great décor! GREASY crab cakes that appeared uncooked inside. Not sure why it’s so expensive!!! Food is ok — Ragout was nothing special

Looking for scrumptious food and awesome service? Needing a special, memorable night out in an upscale place that won’t break your bank account? This is it! My curried chicken was not quite as good as Bob’s Cajun Seafood, — his was outta this world. But the chicken was tasty and the seasonings were superb. I just didn’t expect the bed of soggy rice. The wine(a red blend from Lodi, CA) was delicious. Would I come again? You bet! And I’d definitely have the house salad with ginger dressing again. That was great!

So, I used to come here fairly frequently when I lived in Bozeman. Now, I am lucky to make it here once every couple years. On my most recent visit, I had the Daily Homemade Pizza & Salad special. My salad was quite good, and I enjoyed the pizza as well. My soup was decent. I also helped my lunch companion polish off her Summer Seasonal Super Food Platter. It had some nice and healthy items on it. This place really is an institution. Although the prices are somewhat higher than I would like, the quality is excellent(at least for what I have ordered in the past). I know that the opinions are all over the map in recent years(5 stars and 1 stars), but I still think this place is worth checking out. Because, when it is good, it is very good, indeed.
