we’ve had many many good meals at this place — the rent situations sucks — and we will miss it dearly. Again we’ll need to find a new favorite restaurant

We love this place. Have been there for both breakfast and dinner. Especially love the breakfast. Staff was always quick and friendly. Unfortunately, when we ate there last night, we found out that Home will be closing its doors for good in mid February. The reason is because the rent for the restaurant has gotten too high and the owner of the building is asking too high of a price to be bought out. Such a shame:-(

«Home» is an odd, quirky bird. It’s housed in a defunct old ski lodge tucked away off the main drag of a sleepy western-Maryland town. Ya gotta know where it is, or be actively looking for it to find it. The menu’s kind of a throwback to the homey comfort-food offerings of the 90’s, and the décor is a mix of hotel dining room, nostalgic theme restaurant, and silver-hair supper club. But, the servers are super-friendly. The food is pretty competently done — I had a grilled pork chop and the wife a «homestyle» turkey dinner, both served with similar mashed ‘taters, grilled veg, and fruit chutney. Adventurous is not a word you’d use to describe what they’re serving here, but that’s OK. They’ve got craft beers on the menu from Flying Dog, and a full bar should you want more substantial drinkies. Once you’re outside of Frederick, the dining options can get scarce. Home at Braddock Inn is cozy, maybe even more so when the weather turns chilly. And in the rolling hills, with the sun sinking early and the winter wind kicking up, a beer, some comfort food, and wood paneling can be just what you need.

Outstanding service, excellent food and the best coffee I’ve in Maryland. I wish they were open earlier, but I’ll be back next time the kids sleep in past 8. Sweet potato pancakes were a nice surprise on the menu of otherwise fairly standard American breakfast fare. They were great, Give me a try!

BREAKFAST!!! I don’t like their biscuits. Just gonna start off with that. And I love biscuits. But for some reason, I’m not in love with theirs. *shrugs* Other than that, I love the homey Home at Braddock Inn. I’ve only ever been here for breakfast, and they do it well! Food comes out pretty fast. The omelettes are yummy. And the pancake creations are amazing as well! It’s kind of hidden away in Frederick mountain land, but if you’re around and looking for a nice affordable breakfast, this is a great place to go!

Love this place! Friendly service, and after the first time there, the waitress knew what we preferred for cocktails! Homey atmosphere and comfort food with a twist. Want to try the Sunday Brunch everyone’s raving about. Definitely recommend

What a quaint little place… ENTERING… The entrance is not immediately apparent as there is no sign. It is the first door closest to the road leading to Home. We went around to a couple of other doors before finally going back to the main entrance, where a Charlie Chaplin statue happily greets you. Don’t second guess yourself when the door opens to the dining room and there’s no host(ess) to greet and seat you. The one waitress in the room eventually greeted us and directed us to a table. SETTING… The place is homey(how apropos), with a cottage feel: wood floors and walls, a fireplace, and the restaurant feels secluded in the woods. A full bar reminds diners that this is a restaurant. DINING… My girlfriend, her sister, and I came for brunch. We got the seafood omelette, the spinach and feta omelette, sweet potato pancakes, and challah french toast. Sweet potato pancake was good; it surprisingly was not too sweet and had an earthiness to it. The seafood omelette was extremely average. I think there was a bit too much egg to the point where the seafood was somewhat lost. Sister said the spinach and feta omelette was good. I have made challah french toast before and consequently had high hopes for Home’s. It was fine, though the richness associated with eggy challah didn’t come through. It could have been warmer. The cinnamon sour cream was a nice touch, though I’m glad we had syrup to mix it up a bit. Service is friendly with the perfect amount of checking in that allows us to request things but otherwise enjoy our meal in peace. Prices are okay($$); there’s something for people of all budgets.

Wish this was in my neighborhood. How cool to be able to drop in here with friends, hang out at the bar or even get dinner. The owner is vice-president of the Braddock Heights Historical Society and provided us with a wonderful tour of The Inn and stories of this area when it was used as a retreat from the city. Fun. You should check it out.

I loved the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant and I would love to go back and have some cocktails and listen to live music some time, but I wasn’t a big fan of their breakfast. Everything was a little off-mostly dry or overcooked and my sausage gravy and biscuits served as a sausage patty in between two halves of a cut biscuit with sausage-lacking gravy on top, was not very appetizing. My boyfriend says that he won’t be back, but I’d like to give them another try; probably for lunch. Our server was very nice, but the other server/bartender who was in the dining room when we first came in didn’t greet us or say that somebody would be with us shortly so we stood in the doorway for several minutes, wondering if we came in the right entrance and/or if we were supposed to seat ourselves. It’s a pet peeve of mine when the servers have a(perceived) «every man for himself» attitude toward each other. I feel like a «local» being from Frederick, but this place definitely feels like it caters to its regulars.

Home at Braddock appears — based solely on one visit — to be one of those places that regulars can become jealous about protecting from popularity. When my sister, who lives in the area, suggested it for a family breakfast, her description made me worry that it might be jammed and noisy on a Saturday morning. Not so. A table full of older men chatting about computers and cars; a few young couples; and our group of five adults and two kids. That was it. We were in the bar room, which is where their live music plays at night. Dining and banquet rooms were closed. The breakfast menu is the hearty biscuits-and-gravy type, where two eggs, bacon, home style potatoes and a big biscuit is about $ 8. The food is honest American. The atmosphere is matter-of-fact post WWI resort. Lots of dark wood and photos of trolley stations and old ski platforms. Comfort food in a real period piece. Look to the other reviews for reports on lunch and dinner, but give me breakfast there again.

The Braddock Inn offers the best value in the area with great food, best atmosphere, live music, friendly staff all in one unique historic place tucked away in its own world on the top of Braddock Mountain. I have been a customer since they opened 6 years ago. Ask Greg about the history of the Inn :)

As a review below said, «why don’t more people come here?!» It was a Friday night so I made reservations, which weren’t needed, but got me the requested seat near the piano and bass players and next to the fireplace. Lovely service, wonderful ambiance and good food at very reasonable prices. I will be coming back often!

Delicious breakfast and great atmosphere. I have never tried their lunch or dinner, but their breakfast is by far one of the best in the Frederick area.
