The Main Cup

This place was great! Nice selection of food and specialtiy coffee. Just stumbled here while my class was going to the creamery to see how cows are milked.

I cant say enough about the food, service, and the folks that show up to enjoy a nice place to be social. Don’t forget Jazz Nite on Thursday!

We stopped for a late lunch after the first Unilocal recommendation was closed. The name is extremely misleading. The food was really good. I had an Ahi sandwich and my daughter had a cheeseburger. The tuna was perfect and a surprise! I did not expect this good of a sandwich, this far out of the way. Fries were great too. Service was great but there was really a light crowd.

I went to a birthday dinner at this restaurant in March. I had a light meal — cream of crab soup and a Caesar salad. The soup was just ok… Not great, not bad. The Caesar salad was horrible. Wilted lettuce on a warm plate. Worst Caesar salad I have ever had…
Other people seemed to enjoy their meals to varying degrees…

This was our first time visiting The Main Cup (not sure why!) and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door. The place is adorable. Several dining rooms, one with great exposed brick walls, one with a huge bar and a café area near the to-​go area. It was a quiet morning with several tables already finished their meal and just sitting drinking coffee. We were able to seat ourselves and the hostess followed us to the table with menus. Our waiter, Nick, came almost immediately and took our drink order. Good so far. Until it wasn’t. Nick tended to the other three tables, taking their plates, filling their coffee, presenting their check, taking their check, and never once glanced our way or came to take our order. Our drinks had been delivered by someone else and he should have seen that we moved our menus to the side, indicating that we were ready to order. We had to flag him down to do so. Our food came out in a decent period of time and was hot and appetizing looking. My eggs Chesapeake was yummy. The hollandaise sauce perfect and lots of it, which is important to me. Eggs were poached perfectly. The side of fruit was s little lacking with some brown pineapple and lots of cantaloupe. My husband’s California omelette was good with good pico de Gallo and fresh avocado. However, Nick never came to check on us so my husband had to get up to find someone for some ketchup for his potatoes. At the end of the meal, Nick did come to warm up the coffee, proceeded to fill the cup too full, spilled some on the table, apologized, but never came back with a rag to clean it up. He could have also taken my empty plate with him. Again, my husband had to get up to find Nick to get the check after sitting and waiting 10 min after finishing our meal. We weren’t in a hurry this morning but it could have been really annoying if we had been. I certainly want to try this place again but I’ll ask for a different server.

This is absolutely my favorite place to go. Everything is delicious.

The cheeseburger tasted like the most expensive steak you can find! The service was perfect and so friendly. Comfy couches and a great relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Everything I’ve had has been excellent. The service, the roasted veggie sandwich, jazzy fries, spinach dip, biscuits and gravy-​all fabulous.

We enjoy going to The Main Cup. It is conveniently located. The attire is casual and the food is good.

Super charming and warm restaurant and coffee shop! I’ve been a handful of times and have had a great experience each and every time. Very warm and friendly staff with a really cool setting no matter where you’re sitting. Tasty caffeinated beverages, great iced coffee (this coming from a cold brew, iced coffee snob) and good but not great (with select exceptions) food offerings, this is really a place I look into becoming a regular at.

I ordered the crab cake sandwich with a side of coleslaw. There were big chunks of crab meat and the tartar sauce was really tasty. For dessert i had chocolate lava cake with ice cream. It was delicious. I should have ordered the ice cream on the side because it melted quickly. I would definitely recommend this place.

Walking up to the restaurant I loved the old downtown feel and that they have kept the old signs. However, I was not able to find the front door as easily which was on the side of the building. None the less the restaurant is beautiful I love the décor.
My boyfriend and I both ordered drinks, crab dip and the NY Strip Steak. The crab dip was creamy and delicious, the house salads were fresh with homemade ranch dressing. My steak was cooked medium rare with redskins potatoes and the seasoning was great! My boyfriend ordered his steak rare and got medium. They got it right the with the second steak which they brought out fast and it was delicious!
We loved the place and will definitely go back. Everything was delicious!

I’ve always enjoyed good food and decent service however, on 9−16−15 we were given a check for $ 31.93 and since it was happy hour we put 2 $ 20’s in the black book and handed it back to the server. Immediately she returned with «backup» and accused us of trying to get out of paying a check for $ 59.43. We told her the only check we got was for $ 31.93 which obviously was incorrect but she never acknowledged the fact that she gave us the wrong check to begin with. I might add we were treating a friend who had never been to The Main Cup. What a wonderful first experience!

Always enjoy my meals here. Great take out also. On this day though not sure how the staff figures out who is taking care of bar customers. Looks like waitresses and waiters just jump behind the bar at random? Wait staff is for tables, and bartenders tend the bar… simple, no? Next note… I order mushroom soup and the steak and fries. «Would you like the soup out first?» Really… everyone wants the soup out first when ordering a main course. The soup is under appetizers, as in what comes out first. How hard is this?
It’s hard notty order the crab cake here. It should be noted that the crab cake is as good or better than Dutches Daughter which thinks it serves the best seafood in Frederick. NOT.
Mushroom soup… delicious. Sat for a while as it started to form a skin, but it was good. Stark and fries were good. I had the feeling the steak sat a little as it was closer to room temp than off the grill. Asked for mustard and steak sauce. Came after I had finished lunch. Waitress Katie never came back until the meal was over with the mustard. Then says «I found the last bottle of steak sauce in the place.» Really… The place is wall to wall with woman eating salad for lunch and you pretend you were taking 20 minutes to find the last bottle of steak sauce. Never got a refill on Iced Tea. Yes, I’ll be back, yes I will ask for a different waitress If Katie S is who approaches. So overall today… food 3, wait staff 1= 2. Shroyers Tavern a better experience for lunch in the valley

Only once had a bad meal served here and they took care of it immediately. Mistakes happen and Main Cup rectified it at once. Great salads, sandwiches and soups. Deserts are just too good. Servers are always attentive and knowledgable. We don’t eat there often, but we are never disappointed when we do.

Left after being ignored for 25 minutes. #sometimesiminvisible Never given a menu. Oh well… won’t be back.

Great local dining. Not a gourmet place, but live music, great service, and quaint location. Parking stinks, but it’s all good. crab cake was good. Again, it is great to have a quick place to get to a decent bite to eat. Good for families or date night.

I love this place! If only it were closer! We have dined here twice when heading out to Antietam Battlefield or nearby wineries. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The patio area is wonderful and the indoor area is very quaint. If The Main Cup were closer I would definitely be a regular!

I like the atmosphere, the service is always fast and friendly. The beer, wine, and mixed drinks selection are also good. I mostly visit for a couple libations.
I have had the appetizers 5 times there since they opened and have never been impressed with any of them. I will try an entrée someday, though.

Great atmosphere, service and food. Several dining areas, including a café/​coffee shop and a few outdoor tables. Plenty of parking in this semi-​rural town. A true gem!
