This is an ideal lunch spot, because the food comes out fast and the waitress is quick to bring you the check. There are daily specials for pretty cheap, like cheaper than fast food chains. No fills, definitely no AC, but there are fans circulating so you can stay somewhat cool. It reminds me of being inside a tent at night, with the lighting that is used, and there are no windows. We ordered two sweet teas and ended up with two cloudy unsweet teas($ 1.99 each). Tea gets cloudy for one of two reasons, and I don’t even want to think about which reason ours was. So, I loaded mine up with a few pink Aspartame packets, and the packets were so old that the sugar substitute was in clumps. On to the food: I ordered the Samper Platter #1($ 10.99), which was pork and beef with two sides. As you can see from the photo, it was hard to tell the two apart. I actually recommend the beef more than the pork, because it has a richer taste which was more flavorful. You think it would be the other way around. It came with 2 toast slices cut in half and soaked with delicious garlic butter(not kidding it was delicious). The Mac & Cheese was actually homemade and tasted better than any of the other BBQ places I have been to in the area. The BBQ beans however, were straight from the can. My workmate had a BBQ Pork Sandwich with one side($ 5.00) that was on the specials board when you walk in. It was served on a regular hamburger style bun and he got fries with it. The fries looked pretty darn good, and appeared to be super crispy. There are two sauce options that come in super sticky bottles, and you have to ask for the sauce. There is original, which is fairly runny with a nice vinegar bite, and then a hot flavor that I was not brave enough to try. The hot looked really thick and red, and there was not much left in the bottle. We will be coming here again, maybe not in the near future, but in the future. My next visit with include their Sample Platter #2($ 11.99) with ribs and chicken. Once I have had the ribs, I will be able to make my final decision about this place. They also have«Soul Food Sundays,» and you can see that menu on their website as well( ). All of their info and menu items are listed on their website. And, I was too full to try the Sweet Potato Pie($ 2.00), but maybe next time. Make sure to take a peek at the kitchen while you are checking out at the register, because it looks like some serial killer shit in there.
