Awesome shrimp! Wonderful service! Wake up your mouth and make you smile onion rings! Worth the drive from Venice. I tried the Basa and I loved it though if asked I would say I don’t like fish. It made a fish eater of me. This is definitely a place to return to again and again.

What a pleasant surprise to find such delicious food in an unassuming little restaurant off the beaten path in downtown Palmetto. The steamed Buffalo shrimp were delicious and the Challenger dinner is not for wimps!

we have eaten here for over a year with the company or with friends and we have never been disappointed. Everything is always as close to perfection as it can get, we thank the staff very much for the politeness and efficiency.

Great place… food is exceptional it takes a little while to get your food sometimes but it’s made to order so it’s always worth the wait. The crab legs are huge and full of meat and the wings are great too along with the hush puppies soooo moist. Wonderful little hidden gem.

Husband loved his buffalo shrimp. I really enjoyed my «challenger»: spicy shrimp(nit só spicy, just perfect) with collard greens and rice and peas. Beer was cheap(and the selection was really good). Very affordable. A good family owned spot!

Came at noon with a coworker. Ordered 1lb Garlic Shrimp with a side of broccoli and a Blackened Grouper Sandwich. Waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Asked our server Tay when we would receive it and she kept saying, «soon.» Once we received it, the shrimp was overlooked and rubbery, the grouper sandwich was fine and the hush puppies were overlooked and heavily breaded. Never once did Tay asked us how our food was or apologize for the wait. I asked her what took to long to make our meals and she said that only one cook was in the back and the other cook doesn’t show up until 2pm. What kinda restaurant would schedule something like that during lunch hour? Poor service and not once was there any type of apology or attempt to salvage the business. As I was finishing up signing for the bill, a couple to our right asked the server how long the food would take to come out(they have been waiting for some time). Tay told her 5 minutes and started to explain about the book situation. I interrupted and told the couple that it took me and my coworker 40 minutes for ours to come out. I don’t normally lament about service but the restaurant wasn’t busy and the food wasn’t even anything great! At any decent restaurant, the server or manager would apologize for the wait but not here. Customers are not their first priority. Will never come back here again.

This is by far one of the best seafood places I’ve eaten at. The service is just amazing. The food is great in every way. If you love seafood this is the place to go. They have blue crab and it is cooked perfect. I’ll be back here many more times to come.

I read all the reviews and was excited to stop in for dinner. AWFULNESS!!! Shrimp so overcooked I could hardly get the shell off. Sausage must have come from Dollar General. Corn on the cob & potato again overcooked. Garlic old bay season selection was so salty I couldn’t finish my food. My dog really enjoyed the sausage. I gave up on the shrimp. When I tried to mention the problem to waitress she quickly thanked us for stopping in, gave us the check and disappeared. Our meal was so overpriced for the poor quality. Super disappointed.

I can’t believe that people are giving this place 4 stars! Unfriendly service, and we were shocked when our grouper sandwiches arrived! Not on a roll, or hamburger bun-but with 2 slices of white wonder bread! That’s right-wonder bread! And it was $ 15 for the sandwich and diet coke. Fine in a normal restaurant, but this was a restaurant with lawn furniture to sit on. We could have had a better meal at McDonald’s. And the soft drinks and ice tea refills would have been free!

The good ol’ Number 3-a filet of Basa, ¼ lb of shrimp, fries and a drink for $ 13.99. The service was very friendly. The Basa had a very nice light corn meal breading that didn’t absorb the grease. The fish was cooked properly and was nice and tender. The shrimp were tasty. Overall, a pretty good deal and I’d go back.

I really had high hopes after some friends were here for lunch but that’s not the case. A group of 5 of us stopped in for lunch while at a convention and the waitress did preface that it had been non stop busy all day, so please be patient. However, by the time we ordered there were only 2 other tables. We waited 20 minutes just for water and then the waitress brought 5 cokes to us instead(not what we ordered). Then when I asked if I could get extra veggies instead of rice for Kevin’s Special I was informed that their food is made to order and there is an extra charge for any changes(okay, I just wanted to swap out my rice, but whatever). The food was okay, nothing spectacular, shrimp was overcooked and when you pair it with the ridiculously slow service(we asked for separate checks and were told that wouldn’t be a problem, yet she had to ring everyone up one by one off of one check). All in all, not the experience I was hoping for.

This is great place for seafood and soul food. The place is clean and airy, and the staff is very friendly and competent. I had the chicken wings and collard greens. The collard greens were perfect. The chicken wings were hot and crispy, and they stayed crispy. They were also huge. I could only eat 4 of the 6. My husband had the fried shrimp and the garlic crab. He thought the shrimp was excellent, fresh and juicy yet crispy. The crab was good but(expectedly) messy. The sweet tea is a little too sweet, but if you have them mix it with a little unsweetened tea, it’s great.

Crab, shrimp and ribs cooked up by a soul-food master and served up by friendly servers that are busting with pride about how good the food is. Don’t dress up. We did a double-take when we pulled up in front. The interior is plain concrete and patio furniture, but WHOCARESWHENTHEFOODISTHISGOOD! They do great crabs and shrimp, ample portions, reasonable prices. The big surprise was the BBQ. I’m from Memphis. Memphians are BBQ snobs and for good reason. Memphis is home of the best BBQ on the planet. But I tried Kevin’s ribs, and he can hang with the Memphis guys! I got talked into trying a few bones with my shrimp and king crab, and I loved the combination. We had the Admirals Feast — easily enough for two. Loved it. Next time I come I’m ordering the blue crab. If I had 4 hands I would give Kevin’s 4 thumbs up.

We have been driving past this place for a couple of years and never tried it. Last night we looked up the reviews and decided to give it a chance. WELL, our waitress Jessica made us feel like family. The food was excellent in all cases from tasty mac and cheese to the out of this world shrimp(especially the fried and the Buffalo shrimp). For shrimp, my wife and I will make this our«go to» spot. We are already talking about picking up to go after work. Thanks Jessica and the staff at Kevin’s ***** stars in our book!

What a hidden gem!!! This place is a must for seafood lovers! The food is fantastic, hot, fresh, flavorful(minus the hush puppies, a little bland). Reasonable prices & great menu options. We enjoyed it so much we are returning for lunch tomorrow before we head back home to VA!

Garlic Crabs, where have you been all my liiiiiife? Oh my goodness gracious, holy moly— this was a full frontal freakout experience. I was getting medieval on a massive bowl of garlicY shrimp, garlicY snow crab clusters, corn, and potatoes. Next time, I am going to add scallops and blue crabs to the mix and get crazy! The way I like to eat it: Eat all the seafood first. If you order fish with your meal, it will come fried unless you specify otherwise. Dip everything in the garlic butter at the bottom of the bowl. Oh my! Then, eat the corn on the cob. After the bowl is clean and all that is left is garlic butter sauce and potatoes— then, mash the potatoes with your fork until they become garlicy butter mashed potatoes. To each their own, but this is my favorite way to enjoy. Kevin’s also served killer chicken wings, BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, corn bread, and crispy catfish smothered in brown gravy over rice. They have their seafood market inside, and it tastes so fresh! Easily a once-a-week dinner place for me. They do close kind of early, I think 9pm’ish, and can be kind of expensive. The seafood bowl I like is around $ 21.99.
