Service was good, this day the a/c was out so it was extremely warm. Food was good. Could have a better beer selection. Two beers, a burger and a steak sandwich with fries $ 31

Since I’m originally from Chicago, I was really excited to try this place when I first heard about it. Seeing as how I’m not in Bradenton too often, I never had the chance until a couple of weeks ago. They bill themselves as Chicago pizza, but not just deep dish, Chicago thin crust too, which is different and MUCH better than NY thin crust btw! I ordered a large pepperoni and sausage for pickup along with an order of mozzarella sticks. When I walked in, I was very impressed. It’s a standalone restaurant on the edge of a strip mall and pretty decent size. They have a very nice patio out front and the inside was decorated with all things Chicago, sports, street signs, etc. I walked up to pickup the pizza and noticed they had a TON of beer on tap. Makes me with a ordered in. It was pretty pricey. From what I recall, the pizza and mozz sticks came to about $ 26 and change. So, the mozzarella sticks weren’t great. They weren’t horrible, just obviously frozen and fried. No big deal. The pizza was very good though. Not like it was back home, but a very good effort on their part. Crust wasn’t thin enough for my liking but still very good. The cheese was excellent, not the cheap, imitation cheese you’d find at the gross places and the sausage was good, but not excellent. What made this experience strange was that when I reheated some the next day, I think it tasted better than it did fresh! Never had that experience before! I think I’m going to order one and next time, not touch it until the day after, reheat it then pig out. All in all, it was very good and I’m glad I finally got to try it.

This experience is really about the Joey D’s in Palmetto/Ellenton on 301. We went in to order for carry out and you would have thought we were an inconvenience to them. Regardless, we ordered and waited about 20 minutes for our food. Once home the buns for the hot dogs were hard as a rock! I was shocked since we never had that problem at any other location. The tomato’s did not seem fresh and the fried mushrooms were not cooked all the way through. Although I like of Joey D’s, I will not go back to this location again. We called to talk to someone and waited for someone to come to the phone, but I just hung up after 5 minutes. I am posting here since their is no where to post for that location.

Joey Ds — ordered 3 deep dish pizzas about a month ago and received 3 thin crust. Called and spoke with manager and they offered 20% off next order.(???) Two weeks later we call for another deep dish and ask for our 20% off and were told they had no record because they had cleared out the register and thrown out the promise of the 20%.(Lousy customer service) But they did deliver a deep dish(yay!) Tonight we call and say deep dish 5 times and guess what? Yup they delivered a thin crust. It’s not rocket science it’s pizza. Go anywhere else for pizza. Seriously anywhere.

The absolute worst. The food is horrible, the owner’s attitude sucks. I wouldn’t feed my dog there, and if I tried, he’d refuse.

Salad’s, hot dogs and chicken wings were great! Pizza was ok, but not fabulous. Price was good. Enjoyed the sports on TV while eating.

Possibly the best pizza I have eaten in 20 years. I just wish I lived near hear so I could order them more.

Great spot for buffalo wings and anything chicago! The Italian beef is on point but the pizza is a little bland for me.

Wow, I am so disappointed. First I want to say that the delivery guy was very nice and this has nothing to do with him! I ordered a medium veggie pizza and Chicago hot dog. The hot dog was good but totally cold. On the other hand, when I opened the pizza every bit of the cheese, veggies and sauce, which there was none, even though I ordered extra, was all piled up on one side of the box and the other side was bare crust that was not even warm and very naked. Very, very disappointed. You know, long day of flying, can’t wait to chill and eat a pizza and when I opened it, it almost looked like a cold cheese ball. I am sorry for being so harsh but last year I ordered from Joeys many times and was always pleased. Don’t know what happened?!

We live in west Bradenton and for a long time, the restaurant offerings in that area were somewhat limited. That was until Joey D’s opened in the former Atlanta Bread Company location on Manatee Avenue West. They have spiffed the place up quite a bit and they have made it into a kid-friendly, sit down pizza restaurant with surroundings that are warm and inviting and not your typical sports bar and grill. They have outside covered seating for those that enjoy that sort of thing or indoor dining that may involve a short wait time, depending on what time of the day you are there. Now, I have not tried everything on their menu, but I’m working on it! For our first several outings at Joey D’s, my wife and I played it safe and ordered the thin crust pizza and shared a large Greek salad, all of which have been consistently very good. Then, about a month ago, we took the plunge and ordered the Pasta Sandriana(baked Ziti with Alfredo, spinach and mushrooms) and shared a large Greek salad and it was terrific. The portions are huge and we had enough left over for lunch the next day. You wouldn’t normally expect it from a pizza place, but it is my opinion that their salads and dressings are as good, if not better than any I have had in any restaurant in the area. The large Greek salad is currently about 8 bucks and it’s enough for three people. I’ve had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which is also very good if you are really hungry. I like Joey D’s for lunch because it is close to work and they have you in and out quickly(if you so desire but be sure and tell the server). They also have 4 or 5 standard lunch specials for around 8 bucks which includes a drink. The personal pan pizza was my favorite on the lunch menu until I noticed they also had a Greek salad and garlic bread which is very good.
So, in conclusion, I have found that Joey D’s offers a wide variety of menu items that you might not expect to find at a normal«pizza» place and I find their prices to be very reasonable. On more than one occasion, I’ve had a server make a suggestion in our order that saved us a few bucks. Who does that? I give them 5 Stars for consistency in their food and service. We also take advantage of their take out.

Be careful what you order. Ordered a large thin crust pie with extra cheese. When we picked it up it was cut into 32 little squares. It seems this is Chicago style pizza. The girl who took the order did not inform me that we needed to order it Pie cut. It wasn’t worth the aggravation since it was not anything special. I called and Crystal said she didn’t take the order so we were out the money. I asked why they don’t tell you. No response It’s a new restaurant on Manatee Ave they should provide more info.

Ordered pizza, boneless wings, kids Mac n cheese: pizza crust was awful, tasted previously frozen, sauce from a jar, mushrooms from a can. Wings mostly breading, not much chicken, generic sauce. Mac n cheese tasted like day-old Kraft my 1-yr old who loves pasta wouldn’t eat it and they had the nerve to charge $ 5 for it. Overall yuck. Won’t come back. Go to Danny’s up the road!

So very very very disappointed. This was my first experience with this restaurant and there won’t be a second. I was really looking forward to trying them, being that we were tired of the same old restaurants. We order that stuffed pizza and there’s a disclaimer advising it takes 30 to 40 mins to make this pizza so we knew we weren’t gonna get it fast but we placed the order at 7:50pm and waited and waited. We called and was told at 8:55 the driver was already gone to our relief bc we were starving. so we waited and waited called again around 9:20 was told sorry they got busy so they’re running behind. We thought he was on his way when we call before 9pm. so waited before cancelling the order at 9:30pm. I don’t think its unreasonable to expect to have the order by 9 or alil after 9pm. Even given an expectation that the order may take an 1 hr and 40 mins to 2 hours so we could have made the decision as to whether it was worth the wait would have been nice. The manager was apologetic but it floored me when she told me they already charged my card and would void the order but it would take DAYS to see it back on my card. She tried reaching her driver but wasn’t able to speak to him. So you can imagine I was very aggravated. Not to mention that either my phone or their phone kept hanging us up. The driver finally made it after the fact and we told him we had already cancelled. He then mentioned that my location which is 13 mins away(according to Google Map) was out of his delivery zone. So why even take order??? Just wasn’t the first time experience I was looking for.

This place seemed popular because there were so many people at the restaurant. We had no problem getting a table. We got a four top table in front of a rather large flat screen tv playing a hockey game. Our server was a young man I don’t remember his name. He was perfunctory but efficient. Not too friendly but not a jerk either. The food came very fast. I had a cheesy beef but he did not ask me if I wanted cheddar or mozzarella and my sandwich came to the table with mozzarella. I had envisioned it with cheddar. But oh well. It was good. The meal was fast and we got the check fast too. Our meal took less than an hour from start to finish.

Been eating at Joey D’s for years but always eat in. Yesterday I had to opt for delivery because of circumstance. Our pizza arrived in 20 minutes, was hot and delivered By a great delivery guy! Kudos to you Joey D! Oh and you can pay and tip at time of order too! If you are a fan of Chicago thin crust — this is your place! I’m old school Chicago and remember the old neighborhood places like Chesdens and Vannucci Brothers. When eating in we often have the Chicago Beef. I’m from Chicago so I know a great Chicago Beef. It rivals Al’s or Portello’s ! Try it — you will like it!

The pizza is definitely not worth the aggravation of the poor service. We made a simple delivery order and called back 2 minutes later(I’m certain it was 2 minutes thanks to cell phone call logs) to make a modification. We were told quite rudely that this was an impossibility and that the pizza was already made. So either a magician in the back made a pizza in less than 2 minutes or this is the worst service in the history of pizza delivery. Clearly the restaurant does not regard its customers. There are plenty of other pizza shops around town. Try them.

We lived just outside of Chicago for years and Joey D’s Chicago deep dish took me back to those days riding the train into Chicago and visiting Gino’s East for lunch. Joey D’s hit their deep dish spot on! You do pay for a good Chicago deep dish. Their medium last night was $ 25, but it’s like getting two pizzas in one. A proper Chicago pizza has a thin crust on the bottom, cheese and up to 4 toppings, another thin crust and sauce on the top. It’s a mess to eat, but it’s amazing when you do. Definitely try the Chicago Deep Dish when you visit Joey D’s. Their West side thin crust is amazingly good, too. Square cut, its not a thin and crispy crust, but it’s not soggy either — or chewy. It’s just right. The sauce goes almost out to the edge, there it’s just a hint of crust to hold on to as you eat more pizza than you usually do because it’s so darn good! Definitely stop at Joey D’s for lunch or dinner. They have pasta, sandwiches, salads, desserts. We aren’t sure whether to try out all the other stuff or just gorge ourselves on their tasty pizza.

There’s a really long wait because this place is so popular. The pizza and everything else here is excellent it’s worth the wait. Rachel was our server and she was splendid! The new location is aesthetically fantastic for a Chicago style eatery. We will continue to come back over and over!

I really wanted this place to be awesome. Maybe the worst service and food I’ve ever had. Even went back another time to give it a fair shake. Cold food. Hot dogs weren’t even cooked. No drink refills. No table visits from manager. No apologies from servers. The only time they are nice or speedy is when they drop te Check then speed right back to get it once u pay. We will never be back here again.

Went for lunch a few weeks ago. Ordered two hotdogs and 20 wings. Food was decent, only after waiting 40 minutes for it. The server never checked back, never apologized for our order taking so long, never refilled our drinks. If you want food in a reasonable time or if you want courteous service, I would suggest going somewhere else. Not impressed!

I walked in and ordered a hot dog and fries to go. it was 4pm on a weekday and the place was no more than a third full. I walked out with no food after waiting 25 minutes. what a joke.

I have tried another location which this one replaced. I tried their Italian beef sandwiches which I liked. This was the first time trying the deep dish pizza. This pizza was just okay. The cheese was not ooey gooey, it needed more sauce, and the crust lacked flavor. I love Lou Malnati’s, Gino’s East, and Aurelio’s pizza and I know that they are all different yet still Chicago pizza. This couldn’t be compared to anyone of them. I’d maybe compare it to S’barro which is usually in mall food courts. The server was pretty nice, and took care of us. He gave Mocha, our dog some shredded cheese, his favorite! I’d say try it, and see what you think. I know many people have different pizza preferences. This just wasn’t ours.
