Impressive! We’re driving home late and looking for a place to eat. I didn’t really want the typical post-10pm fare so looked on Unilocal for inspiration. It didn’t disappoint. This place is very close to my house and well, from the outside it just didn’t look like a place I would frequent. Reminded me of the dark smoky bars with boarded windows. Much to my surprise it was anything but. Great live jazz music greeted us at the door, well lit so you could see your company and your food. We chose a table in the back where we could still talk and hear the band. My husband chose Dougy’s Fresh PB and Bacon Jam Burger for $ 12. Came with fries and the usual burger trimmings. Fries were nice and hot, perfectly cooked. He tasted he burger and out popped two«wows» in the first minute. He said it was an interesting taste. Almost too sweet but good. Said maybe next time he would opt for the jam on the side. But overall a pleasant surprise. I wanted the homemade mac and cheese but at $ 9 a bowl I wasn’t sure I was that hungry. The waiter said I could have ordered a side instead though. Oh well. I got the Deep Fries Brownie Sundae. Pretty good. I previously thought the Brownie would be battered and fried but not quite. It reminded me of a brownie with a really crispy layer on top, like your crispy French fry or when you make homemade chocolate chip cookies and have the really thin crispy cookie. Like that on top, but also with vanilla ice cream and both Carmel and chocolate drizzles. Overall the sundae was okay, nothing really special but it was good. Probably wouldn’t order again — would rather spend my stomach room on some of the yummy looking appetizers next time. My hubby said to give the place 4.5 stars, mainly because we were so surprised at finding a bar with a live band that also had proper restaurant seating and really good not just decent not just bar food at 11 at night. Will definitely return again and again. Gotta try the Mac n cheese and the brisket and so many other things.

This place makes me happy as a pig in $h;t. Wanted to get out of the city and am very happy I stopped here! Food and service were both great and they even accommodated my Scottish Terrier Keith whom also enjoyed the filet! Eat here or else!

Not just a bar. Home made quality food. First time here. Let’s start with the crab cake dinner ordered to split as an appetizer. 2 nice cakes with a pile of slaw As soon as the crabs hit the table we could smell the crab. Yum. Flavorful fresh tasting crab one of the best I’ve had. No breading not fried will definitely order again. Also had pulled pork sandwich w fries. Tender and flavorful light coating of BBQ sauce. All the meat is smoked on-site. not sure I can make it back here before we go home. This will definitely be on my list when we return.

We came to the Hoppy Pig for dinner. I am so happy we did. While they have only been open since November 2015, the food said otherwise. We started with a few appetizers of fried shrimp with an Asian sauce that had some kick to it, some mozzarella fried cheese, and a crab cake dinner as one as well. The fried cheese was loaded with gooey melted cheese and a side of marinara. The crab cakes were loaded with lump crab and I did not taste any filler in them. The sauce on top was tangy and had a slight lime flavor. All were fabulous. For dinner I tried the filet mignon tacos. The smoky flavor of the steak came through with every bite. The cilantro and tomato mixed with their homemade green salsa made for a terrific and satisfying meal. I finished off this fabulous meal with a deep fried brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. I walked away with an overly full stomach but would not change a thing. Will definitely come back again next time I am in the Midwest.

The Irish Egg Rolls were AMAZING! You can taste the smokiness in the corned beef. Also I highly recommend the Bradley Porker.

Went there on Saturday. Had A Reuben not bad but it had Mayo on it kinda of ruined it meat part was good. Did not have too much flavor. Seasoned fries should have more than just seasoning salt. Lemonade tasted more like water than lemonade.

Went here for Mother’s Day. HORRIBLE!!! Waitress had zero personality. Got our order wrong. We did not complain because we were starving. Took over 50 minutes to get our food. And it was cold. Never going back. And will spread the word. This place sucks!!!

Good service. Food came out fast. Great beer. However the food is below average. Ordered the fried cheese which has barely any actual cheese in it. My pork was pretty flavor less. My wife didnt even finish half her blt. Will try again as the beer is worth going back for.

My friends and I meet here weekly for trivia. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the service varies. We’ve had some great experiences here but I’ve also had a few bad experiences. The pulled pork is delicious as are the chicken tenders and the fried cheese. I love the buffalo chicken dip! Some servers will bring the check much too soon and other servers will neglect you and not check up on you for 25+ minutes. Andy the bartender is really friendly and will get you some water if your server is nowhere in sight. D is the best server there. I have nothing but good to say about her. If D were my server every time I’d have to give it 5 stars but unfortunately the other three servers I’ve had are not the best.

AMAZING!!! Can’t say enough good things about this place. Awesome food! Some unique, out of the box things that were great like the Irish egg roles(my favorite), the chorizo w/Mac n cheese tacos. I also can’t say enough about the service. Our waitress was prob the best server we’ve ever had. Besides the food, she also made us want to come back.

We had a 40th birthday party at this establishment on 2÷20÷16. We had over 60 guests in the back bar room. The food was excellent. We ordered spinach artichoke dip, chips and salsa, chicken wings, buffalo chicken dip, bacon cheddar cheese dip, sausage, pepperoni and cheese pizzas. The staff was especially wonderful! They helped with everything. I would highly recommend this business to anyone.

Wish we lived closer, this place has AMAZING food! Has plenty of TV’s to watch your favorite team. Also, I’ve NEVER seen so many different locally brewed beers ONTAP. Service could be a little better, but that will come in time, this place is pretty new… LOVE the HUGE table in the center. The place has a kind of Nashville feeling to it with a twist of Chicago… pretty cool, try it out!

Downing a star since my last visit, they need to get rid of the giant ignorant table in the middle of the room. Seems convenient but when you have a party of 25 people. You find yourself screaming at the person just across from you! They knew we had a table of 25 coming in on a Sunday night, for a bday party a few days notice at the most. Once again they are out of half the beers you want to try. After everyone ordered their food. About 6 plates came out about 15 mins later, no biggie, but then the next«set of plates» didn’t arrive for about 30 minutes. Literally. So while I finished my meal, I awkwardly waited for the others to get theirs. Something just wasn’t ran right. I give ya the benefit of the doubt cause there were lots of people, but something was just extremely disorganized. Just to add on, to top it off, I ordered a cherry beer, went to sip it and about threw up because the waitress brought me some gross IPA beer. She said she thought I said I wanted something else? Let’s see how long this place lasts in the locAtion

Meh… I was hoping for Soooo much more, from the reviews. My husband and I started out with the cream of broccoli soup, which was very good… shredded cheddar cheese added. I had the ruben, with Cole slaw, and a side of mac n cheese. The ruben tasted old, like it 2as made yesterday and then re-heated. The Cole slaw sucked. it tasted like lettuce drowned in mayo or sour cream. Mac n cheese was nothing special. . My husband had the pulled pork, which he said was very good… $ 36 later… Not worth it.

We went here Saturday night with a group of 11 people and sat at the huge table in the middle(which was awesome). Like the previous reviewer stated, their menu was somewhat limited, but in their defense, they hadn’t had their«hard» opening until the next day(Sunday) and we were told the menu would be expanded at that time. Anyways, I thought they offered a more unique/modern touch on bbq. I enjoyed the loaded potato fries for an appetizer and the brisket sandwich for an entrée. They also had a wide variety of craft beers on tap which is always a plus. Very cool décor inside and many tv’s for various sporting events being played. The best part of the night was having a part owner come up to our table and ask how our meal was and asked for any recommendations for their menu/what we liked/didn’t like. You can tell they are making an effort to improve and this is what you want out of a restaurant/bar. We will definitely be back! Keep up the good work!

Disappointing menu with very few options. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was really good and perfectly sized. Wait staff is just ok, but the bar staff… 4 – 5 of them at a time and you’d think the drinks would come out quicker. I’ll admit the food here is good, they just need to offer a few more options. We were offered an appetizer that they couldn’t fill because they ran out of fries. We made do with a platter of fully loaded tater tots instead. Here’s a good tip: limit your intake of potatoes by ordering the coleslaw on the side with your sandwich. Then the loaded potato appetizer won’t put you into a potato coma. Update(11⁄27): menu has been updated and is much better. On our prior visit, we were not made aware of the limited pre-opening menu selections. This time around, I tried the chicken and brisket wrap and it was amazing. Paired with the Hailstorm Dominatrix, this was the perfect lunch to have during a break in holiday shopping.
