Came here the other day and food was right around average. I would give the food for 2.5 stars but bumped it up because of the service. Layout is a little weird if you want to watch a game but overall its a nice cozy place. Come here for a decent meal but thats about it.

My boyfriends parents came to visit our new condo in Bridgewater today. After enjoying a beautiful day, we wanted some good food! We’ve passed this restaurant many times and figured we would give it a shot. I was completely blown away. Starting with the happy hour. The house wine and tap beers were a perfect start to the evening. Followed by DELICIOUS apps: General tso calamari, chicken quesadilla, and super crispy wings. Our entrees were great(burgers and grilled chicken salad) but the overall favorite(since we all tried each other’s plates) was the French Dip Au Jus. Absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to go back. My only negative comment would be that when we first walked in there was no hostess so we just sat ourselves at the bar.

My wife and I stop here for a casual dinner at approximately 6PM on a Tuesday evening. We were seated in one of the dining rooms where two or three of the 17 tables were already occupied. We immediate sensed that if more patrons arrived, across-the-table conversation could become difficult and so it was. By the time half of the tables were filled, the decibel level was quite high and distracting. Beyond the relatively high noise level, we found the place attractive and the food and service good. My wife had a Cesar Salad w/Shrimp entrée. It was crisp and flavorful. I had the Crab-stuffed Flounder which I found to be delicious and nicely plated. To finish our meal I had an excellent cappuccino and we shared a very good bread pudding. I must note that it was to be served warm and while one half was almost too hot, the other half was served not nearly warm enough. That said, the texture and flavor more than made up for the temperature inconsistency.

Excellent food quality, pricing and service! I just held my third family party here with a fourth one coming up this Saturday September 12. The owner, Simos, is very personable and flexible with their menu. His staff was and is very attentive and thorough. My guests were raving and left more than satisfied. My family first tried his restaurant out in the spring of 2014 for just a family dinner out. Back then we thought it was great, but Simos has stepped it up a notch. We’ve had the chicken satay, bruschetta, fried calamari, the penne with vodka sauce, the salmon, chicken francais, the sliced sirloin all cooked near perfection for our midsize group. Our parties have ranged from 42 – 60 people and I’m amazed at how consistent the food preparation has been. We’ve had many more of his entrees and appetizers it’s just too much to list. Definitely check this place out for dinner or a personal party. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t be afraid to talk to Simos too! He’s the best and wants to make your party a success!

A beautiful place with good service. However, the food is missing something. It’s very plain and missing flavor. Our group of 7 ordered tuna, burgers and pork chops. The tuna was over cooked, burgers were mushy with no sear and the pork chops had no flavor. I’m disappointed to write the review as the people were fantastic but it really does come down to the food. We never waited for a drink refill and we were given a free round of after dinner drinks. I would probably go back for lunch and try something different but I’ll spend my dinner money somewhere else.

Great brunch, they have a huge selection for the brunch buffet which is hard to find in most places! They also have private rooms where people can have a party such as bridal showers/baby showers etc during the brunch.

Wow. Live acoustic guitar now, on Friday evenings. Put that over a good meal, and you have an evening. Who else bothers to have a musician? A shame there is some copyright police, so the poor guy can’t take requests.

My husband and I love this place! The food is very fresh and the service is excellent. I always get the miso glazed ahi tuna since Chef Justin prepares the tuna perfectly, seared outside and rare in the middle. Delicious! My husband favors the angus steak for the same reason, it is cooked to perfection. We love the calamari and always leave room for desert. I highly recommend to anyone.

Work function here. Most of the food was pretty inedibly dry. I wouldn’t recommend it… Can’t speak for the restaurant itself since this was more of a banquet situation but the food was bad enough to warrant a review

I’m starting to believe that some of the people that write reviews on Unilocal don’t have tongues… people don’t know good food if it hit them in the face… or mouth. Here’s an honest review: Stoney Brook provides fresh, made to order meals on a consistent basis. I frequent the restaurant often and I rarely eat something that doesn’t impress my taste buds. The steaks are prime, the seafood is fresh, and the dishes actually have personality. Want a spot to hit for happy hour? Come here. The happy hour drinks and beers are cheap, and the happy hour appetizers are large for $ 5. You’ll leave full and buzzed and won’t spend more than $ 20(before tax and tip). The best thing about Stoney Brook is its versatility. You can get a great certified Angus steak, crab cakes and fresh fish, or you can keep it more casual with a delicious half pound burger. When I say the burgers are the best in the area, that’s not an exaggeration. The burgers are cooked perfect, nice and juicy, with a delicious bun, and are reasonably priced at around $ 12. The calamari is my favorite appetizer. Some people have a different opinion on it, and I couldn’t disagree more. It’s full of flavor and the breading is well seasoned. The dipping sauces are awesome and the portion is generous. It’s fried calamari people, it’s supposed to be oily. It’s not a low calorie meal. Ultimately, this place is a win. Give it a shot. It’s versatile and attractive. It will suffice all people of different interests whether it be grabbing a beer and an appetizer at the bar, or enjoying a high class steak or seafood dinner. The worst part about the restaurant is its location. It’s somewhat hidden off of route 22. If this place was on the main highway, you wouldn’t be able to get a table.

Where do I begin… Atmosphere: The restaurant itself is very nice. The bar area is beautiful. I can’t help but feel that this place is begging to be an Asian fusion restaurant though. Service: Terrible. The server was nice enough but completely inattentive. Brought entrees out with the appetizer still on the table, took FOREVER to get a drink even though we were one of only two tables in the place. Left us sitting in front of our dishes for TWENTYMINUTES after we finished eating and walked by the table multiple times. Food: DIS-GUST-ING. I have no idea how this place stays in business. Perhaps because there just isn’t that much in this general area? We had the calamari appetizer with spicy chipotle remoulade sauce. It was dripping in oil from frying, rubbery and it was by far the MOST flavorless calamari we’ve ever had. I’m not kidding it tasted like you sipped a cup of oil from the fryer and that was it. The remoulade sauce was basically Russian dressing and it didn’t even have a hint of chipotle flavor. It was like putting mayo on rubbery oil. Some of you Unilocalers misled us into thinking this place had a great burger, so we both got one. Mine was supposed to be Kobe beef and my boyfriend got the Jim Beam burger. They each tasted exactly the same and appeared to be the frozen premade patties that come with artificial grill lines. Both were over cooked and flavorless. The bread was slightly stale.

This is a nice place with a pretty atmosphere. We enjoyed our dinners! I had the filet and my husband had the rosemary chicken. We felt the portions were good. we also had an appetizer which was the crab dip which we enjoyed. The service was good! We have been here about 5 times. The service has been great four times once we had a server that was very very slow and it was very very busy! But overall we have been very happy there and would go back again!

The atmosphere is very nice. It has a delicate feel to it. It was very empty on a Saturday night however. The service was very good. The staff was friendly and the food came out very quick. We started with the chicken francaise sliders which was a special($ 10). There was a total of 3. I thought they were bigger than normal sliders. They were very good. The chicken was moist and did not have too much lemon incorporated which I feel happens a lot with francaise. There was also provolone cheese on top of the chicken. The mini roll was tasty. I ordered the ahi tuna for an entrée($ 24?). The tuna was with potato hash. The tuna was cooked perfect and the potato hash was tasty. However, the portion was extremely small. I might have take 5 bites and the tuna was gone. I was extremely disappointed by this because I was a fan of the taste of the tuna. For dessert, I ordered the coconut snowball($ 8). It was a light cream cake or something covered with coconut. It’s hard to describe what was under the coconut. I am not a fan of coconut to begin with, but I wanted to give this a try. It was average at best. If you are a coconut fan, I would recommend this. Will I go back? Possibly. I was not happy with the portion size, but there were other intriguing options on the menu.

Stoney Brook catered the happy hour at my extended stay hotel last week and it was delicious. They brought in jambalaya(excellent), salmon sliders(also excellent), some fried goodness and fancy cucumbers with hummus. Some coworkers and I went to the restaurant after work for dinner tonight and the food was on par with the catered happy hour at my hotel. Our table of four had 2 prime ribs(the Wed night special), a sage chicken pasta and the Bahama Mama pork chop. We also had a chocolate mousse dessert that was amazing. Minus 1 star for the extremely slow service. We sat at the table for over 45 minutes waiting for our check after the waiter had bagged up our to go boxes. No water refills, just sitting there, with no remaining beverages to finish, waiting for our tab. Aside from the slow service(which may have just been an off night for our waiter), I’d say this is the best option for dinner and drinks in the Branchburg area. The restaurant and bar were very warm and welcoming /well decorated as well.

Very good experience here. Waiter was excellent and the food did not disappoint. I had the short ribs which were very tender and flavorful. My wife had chicken BLT… very tender chicken, pesto was excellent. UPDATE: my last two dinners here were fair at best… I’m not sure if they’ve changed ownership or chefs but it was a disappointment. The food did not taste fresh and fell short of expectations.

We had a great Brunch Service experience. The food and the service were excellent. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because there was a lot of traffic getting back and forth to the buffet. It was ok until about noon when there was a baby shower starting. I was glad we got there early and we leaving by noon.

My department had a holiday lunch here. We have about ~40 people. The admin called in October to reserved the date for mid-December. She requested a private room which was advertise on the restaurant’s website. This request was granted. Since then, she called again twice, to ensure that everything was still in order and they were able to accommodate our party in the private room. She called again the week of the party to give the final headcount and again inquired to make sure were would be setup in the private room. Imagine her and our shock when upon walking in, we were escorted to the regular part of the restaurant where three long tables were set up. Around us there were other regular four and two-tops with other guest didnint. Needless to say, we were not in the private room as promised and as paid for with a deposit! The management was apologetic. There was much confusion as the manager that had reserved this room for us was no longer with the restaurant. At least that was their excuse. The private room was occupied so they could not move us. As a solution, they promptly re-seated the tables that were sat around us to make this part of the restaurant«more private». It was not. I was at a table closest to the bar and there was so much noise from bar TVs that it was pretty hard to hear people at the other end of the table. This was a holiday party and our VP gave a speech. I could see him struggling over the noise. Again, all this could have been avoided if the restaurant executed their promise. I take two start off for this right off the bat. I take the third star off for the food itself, which was very much mediocre to say the least. We had a preset menu of a salad or a soup and an entrée of fish, steak or vegetarian. I tried all of it and it was completely not impressed.

I have been here on numerous occasions and today was the first time I got the chance to get their Sunday brunch which is what they’re most known for. The selection and quality are excellent, but what is most memorable is the impeccable service. The owner truly takes pride in the restaurant and despite how busy it gets, he makes sure you are well taken care of. This is also consistent every time I come here. This is one of the few places in the area that serves as a go-to for just about anything, whether you just want to get a drink and catch up with friends, plan an important gathering or simply for a nice date night. Then there’s the brunch which I do recommend, just be sure to bring your appetite, it’s worth it!

Extra star awarded for happy hour! Great selection of $ 4 wines. I’ll get over the cost of living in Iowa, New Jersey eventually.
