Awesome outside setup. What’s better than drinking out in lounge chairs on a beautiful lake.

Rolled through town with my family and stopped for a bite to eat. Sat outside next to the lake — it was beautiful. We had one of everything on the menu(coconut shrimp and wings are great). The place had a real nice vibe. Big bar, best Juke Box I’ve ever seen, pool table; a great place to gather. Friendly patrons, we struck up a conversation with a few folks immediately. Great selection of drinks. I’m looking forward to returning.

Great little hunters bar! Great food for hungry hikers, friendly. AT hikers should sling their gear out back, but the porch is a gorgeous place to sit. Great views! Yes, a bit of a dive bar, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want… and you want to come here.

Total townie bar. Loved every minute of it. Old school pics on the wall from god knows when apparently Babe Ruth frequented this spot and there is proof on the wall. Seriously cheap by NYC standards, attentive bartender(only one but that worked fine) quite the variety of people. I imagine it never gets too crowded here so I guess its ok that there are only one of each bathroom. The best part is the dock out back. Totally laid back. It’s the kind of place where what you see is what you get. No fanfare, just laid back boozey experience, can totally appreciate that. Definitely a local bar and I imagine feeling out of place if I wasn’t with a local, so keep that in mind…

I don’t know why all the hate. but I’ve never had a bad experience here unless there’s some new management that took over. Me and my friends usually go for free pool on Saturday nights when I’m in town and everyone is pretty friendly. The back of the bar is right on Kittatinny Lake which makes for a great view if you’re playing horseshoes. Babe Ruth used to pass through on his hunting excursions(I uploaded some photos). Working class crowd, beer and shot type place. Good stuff

DIVEBAR– cheap drinks, loads of locals, so-so bar food. For a bunch of guys out for a few beers this place works, also you can sit outside next to the lake which is rather nice when the weather is good. Would not take kids or someone who think Bennigans is a bar to Gyp’s. 3 TVs, pool table and horse shoes out back. don’t forget to check out the signed pics of Babe Ruth to Mr Gyp’s near the back door.

Just a bit terrifying. Very hole-in-the-wall type place, small, «regular crowd» kinda deal. Worked for a few drinks after dinner at a restaurant down the road.

The owner contacted me about my previous review and stated the experience I had was not a normal one and the offending waitress has been let go. It is likely a decent place to eat, but here is my ONE experience with Gyp’s: I hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 2012, came into town and wanted a meal, ordered a burger and a drink and ended up being basically yelled at and told to leave. The locals next to me quoted my server as being a «bitch» to me and we’re in awe themselves. One of them felt so bad he ended up giving me a ride to JUMBOLAND down the street, which is a fantastic place to go with great food and great service.
