We were excited that crawfish season was finally here and that Mudbugs now had a seating area. I guess our first mistake was going on a Friday night although we went early. In our opinion, it is overpriced. The crawfish are $ 5.75 per pound and were small. I did call around later and found that this was the highest priced in the area. Everything else is extra. We ordered mushrooms, thinking that it was going to be something elaborate only to find that at $ 3.00 for 12 mushrooms it was literally 12 small boiled mushrooms some just over the size of marbles. It was so loud that I could hardly stand it to even eat. Plus there are several long picnic style tables of community seating, which were what was available when were got ready to sit down. This is not unlike what we have seen in South Louisiana Crawfish Houses and seem to work out well — But Wouldn’t you know it? At the far end, there is a family with two small children, one of which literally screams the entire time we are there. Not crying, but just screaming. Then another family comes in with three little kids and they sit almost in my lap. The kids keep pushing closer and closer to me until I could barely move my elbows. With all of the beer and bar atmosphere, I hardly think this is the place to bring small kids. The crawfish might have tasted ok, but with the table of screeching women on the other table, next to us, kid screaming from the far end of the table, and the kids crawling all over me, I couldn’t digest it to know. As we «rushed» from the building, we could still hear that screaming kid almost all the way to the car, for sure deep into the muddy parking lot. I am not a fan of the atmosphere(unless for a night of drinking with the drinking buddy’s) or for sure the price. Others might love it…

Crawfish are the best in Jackson. Good selection of beer too. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends so you may have to wait in line to order. It’s not long after you order that you get food so the wait is on the front end.

Best crawfish and boiled shrimp around, hands down. Ive read reviews saying its too loud or the crawfish is too spicy. Its supposed to be loud and its supposed to be spicy! Anything else would be foreign and unauthentic.

Our favorite spot, we have tried most of the local places around and this is definitely our go to spot for crawfish! Great place for a few beers and a few pounds! They are cooked just right, nice and spicy, but not too hot, just enough to make your lips sting a bit the service is still pretty quick even when they do get quite busy! Great choice, can’t go wrong here!

We went last Friday night when we got off work, just had a crawfish hankering. They were great. I had the crawfish, the wife had the shrimp and we shared a pound of crablegs. I couldn’t have been better. Nice and spicy, kinda left the lips tingling.

Always great to eat crawfish here, great people and the crawfish are cooked just right. Their shrimp are great as well. Good service but when crawfish are in season be prepared to wait — they have a line for a reason… it’s good.

Great food, but total chaos as far as seating goes. Tables don’t open up often as people just sit and hang out all night.

Great crawfish. Nice place to eat some mud bugs and sip a brew. I have tried all the local places that serve crawfish and keep coming back here. They have other good food as well for those in your party that don’t fancy crawfish. Give them a try if you haven’t already.

Mudbugs is behind another building so turn in where you see the sign on Old Fannin(a few blocks from Spillway). It’s take out as well as dine in with an open air covered dinning area. The have Bud/Bud Light on draft. No outside beverages or coolers are allowed like the Crawdad Hole but the crawfish are a bit spicier than the Crawdad Hole & T’Beax’s III on Northside(which are both worth trying). If you suck the heads there is a spice that’s out of place that I can’t put my finger on. But they are good & spicy. The shrimp are boiled to order in the same spice as the crawfish, so they, along with the corn & potatoes actually have a bit of spice unlike the seasonless shrimp, corn & potatoes at Crawdad Hole. The Crawdad Hole shrimp are bigger & easier to get into how they devein them, I just wish they were at least a little spicy. The tasty sausage at Mudbugs is an unexpectedly huge link over a foot long for $ 3. Mudbugs is a worth trying if your looking for a little leftover sting on your lips as your driving home.

Best boiled crawfish on the Brandon side of the Reservoir. Yum! Dipping sauce tastes good with French fries too.
