Lunch time. Got seated fast. Server guy super rude. The other two girls… Super nice. Food was good and it’s very nice inside. Lose the rude dude and this would be 5 stars. We will come back and hope for another server.

I have only had Thai food once before and it was a decent experience, so when I heard we were going to Ploy Thai for lunch hour I didn’t have too many expectations. The outside of the building was plain and simple, located in a strip plaza wedged between a pet store and your typical American bar & grill. I thought «well if this doesn’t work out we could always go play with the puppies next door while we wait for our buzzer to go off for Chili’s».
Needless to say, once we actually stepped inside Ploy Thai my reservations were quickly eradicated. The restaurant was dimly lit with beautiful tapestries hanging from the ceiling; Authentic art work and sculptures hugging the walls. I felt like I had instantly been transported to another place and time.
The hostess and waitress were very friendly and soft spoken. The menu was simple yet descriptive enough to get an idea of what you would be ordering. I wasn’t too familiar so I just randomly selected the Chicken Lunch Special with Green Curry, Peas, carrots and Green beans. It came with the «soup of the day» (which happened to be chicken and rice) and Poa Pee (Thai Egg rolls).
Everyone in our group ordered something different and all seemed quite pleased with their experience. I thought my food was delicious!

Best Thai food I have had so far. I ordered the crab rangoons followed by the Red Thai Curry with shrimp. It was amazing. My new favorite Thai restaurant.

Never would I think to order a red tofu curry.
Decided to live on the wild side and try it. Happy I did.
Delicious flavor with a tinge of pineapple sweetness.
Confused the massaman and yellow curries cost extra – not sure I have encountered that at other Thai restaurants.
The inside décor is like two entirely separate restaurants. Traditional, ornate on one side, and modern on the other.
Definitely would return to try massaman, and dine inside.

I’ve always enjoyed dining at Ploy Thai but this specific experience left me disappointed. At first the server was nice but after taking our orders she never came back until we asked her for the check as she walked passed our table. After receiving our check, we were still chit chatting but at least 3 servers came over and asked if our check was ready within the 5 minute span. My Goodness! Are you that busy and in such a rush that you want our check ASAP? There were at least 4 tables still in the restaurant and one just got seated. I won’t be returning here anytime soon either because both my guest and I had a horrible tummy ache after dining here. Service was horrible and food gave us tummy aches.

Taste of the basil fried rice and chicken was good. However, meal predominantly rice with very little chicken or vegetables. Would have rather spent $ 10 at Ghengis Grill and gotten a lot more good for my money.
Probably not going back as it wasn’t worth $ 10. Convenient and quick service for those that might like it, though.

I love this place. Every opportunity I get I make it a point to eat here, even to go. I order the same exact thing at every single Thai restaurant and it’s the cashew nut chicken Thai hot with brown rice. Ploy Thai by far exceeds everyone else’s cashew nut chicken and they’re brown rice is the bomb Diggity

The pad Thai jay was good and the Thai tea was great! However they had the same song playing on repeat for the entirety of our meal (45 minutes)
Would eat again, but perhaps to-​go.

LOVE this place and have to be careful, I could get addicted and eat here every day.
Excellent tasty food, very good value and always consistent friendly service. Very small and intimate, good choice for a quiet date. Ask to sit in the window, your not overlooking the ocean but still cozy. Worth trying, you WILL return again and again.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to for sushi and Thai food. It is decorated so beautiful and the staff is so friendly. They made it such an enjoyable night! I wish I captured pictures of everything we are, but the coconut ice cream and fried bananas is a must!!!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area!!! It’s is delicious! I recently moved to Brandon and I have busted this place 6 times already… That’s how good it is!!!
It’s a small restaurant maybe 65 seating, the service is great and the food is very fresh and tasty! They have great sushi variety which I always enjoy and their Thai curries are made to perfection!!!
Definitely worth a visit!!!

This place is one of the best in Tampa…
I do come here often and its always been a nice quite ambient place to hang out and enjoy the South Asian culinary.
I am no expert nor am I a foodie.
But I do love this place.

At one time, this place was the only game in Town, for Thai Food here in Brandon Florida. Of course, there were always better Thai restaurants, and they were either in Tampa, or Lakeland.
But, food here WAS reasonably priced, and ½ way decent.
Pad Thai was always 6.95 here for lunch, your choice of Chicken or Shrimp. We stopped here a few hours ago, sat down, and asked for a Lunch Menu. To our surprise, the lunch portion of Pad Thai has increased in price from 6.95 to 8.50, but wait, it gets even worse. Shrimp Pad Thai is now a dollar extra. That brings the price of a lunch sized serving up to 9.50 a person, not including drinks or tip :(
Service was fast and friendly, until I started questioning the owners prices. First, he basically called me a Liar when I told him I used to get the Pad Thai WITH Shrimp for 6.95 on the lunch special. But when I asked him if he was calling me a Liar, he said «That was long time ago».
Thanks, but no thanks, we got up and left. We drove up to the Thai Boat Restaurant on Parsons here in Brandon. They do not offer any Lunch Specials, but we got heroic sized plates of Shrimp Pad Thai, absolutely loaded with Shrimp, for the same price as Ploy Thai wanted for a smaller lunch «special», w/​o Shrimp.

Best Thai I have ever had. Red curry is perfectly spicy with heaping piles of mixed veggies, not just your typical bell pepper and bamboo shoots. Spring rolls and plum sauce are a perfect appetizer. Yum!

Located in a strip mall next to Chili’s, Ploy Thai doesn’t look that exciting from the outside but once you step in, wow! very nice! Along with Thai Thani, one of the best atmospheres for a Thai restaurant. Wooden statue lady greets you at the door as you come in, traditional Thai music adds to the ambience, shrines and whatnot in the décor.
Service is very prompt. I went for a midweek late lunch and there were only a few other people seated.
I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which only had about 3 pieces of chicken. I told the waiter that the chicken was lacking and he took it back and brought me another dish which had more. So that was nice and the main reason I leaned towards 4 instead of 3. The dish itself was decent. The lunch special also includes soup or egg roll. The owner also swung by my table and was friendly. Great customer service goes a long way!

I absolutely love Thai food. There are many things I like about this restaurant; the menu selection, décor, friendly staff, and cleanliness all great!
I was a little disappointed with my dish, though. I ordered the sizzling shrimp, a Ploy specialty dish. When it arrived, it was not sizzling because it was swimming in a pool of sweet and sour sauce. WAY too much sauce! Also, the dish was over $ 15, and only came with four shrimp and a few pieces of chopped vegetables.
Even after the appetizer sampler, when leaving the restaurant I was still hungry. Other than the horrendous amount of sauce, everything was good. I was a little disappointed about the portions, but I will go back and plan accordingly. There are many other things on the menu I want to try!
Hopefully, my next experience will be better, & I will update my review accordingly.

I love the ambiance of the place, I truly do. When you enter the restaurant, you’d feel as if you were instantly transported to Thailand. I was hoping to finally have some delicious Thai food while visiting our clients here in Tampa, but this was a letdown.
For some reasons, everything was just TOO sweet, it’s as if they sprinkle sugar in everything. From Tom Yum Goong, to my Red Beef Curry, to my Thai Iced Tea, everything was just so sweet!
I’m sorry but I recommend that you pass up on this. Not worth the time and money.

Chicken rice soup $ 3 — Big portion, great broth. It’s a simple soup consisting of rice and chicken. The garlic flavor in the broth is very good.
Panang Curry with Pork $ 11 — The curry base was creamy and delicious. I enjoyed the cucumbers in this dish. The pork were thinly sliced, but not that tasty. I would try chicken instead.
My order was for take out and I ordered a Kirin to drink while I waited. They had a sushi bar in the back that looked good. Beside a small selection of beer, they also offer wine. The service was fast and friendly. The décor inside was elegant consisting with a lot of mahogany.
