Found myself in Brandon this afternoon, Walking off the Unilocal event, so I wanted to see what was going on at the Brandon Torrid. I was happy to find a buy one, get one free sale for all the clearance merchandise. These used to be hard to come by, and used to happen only on holiday weekends, but they’re a bit more frequent now. Since my weight loss, I’ve almost sized out of the clothing at Torrid, but occasionally I’ll find something that fits. In their dresses i’m a 12 or 14 depending on the cut, so today, I combed through the racks and found 3 that were interesting to me. All three hand a vaguely 1940’s — 1950’s rock-a-billy vibe. One a wiggle dress, the other two more of a 50’s pin up girl look. The sales girl on the floor was more than happy to get me a room set up and I tried on the fashions. They all fit well, but one of them, sadly had some really bad stitching on the bodice. Nothing I can’t fix, but the dress was $ 54. So, when I came out of the dressing room, I asked her what they could do about it. «50% off, but it will be a final sale.» That was quite reasonable to me, so I ended up getting all three of the dresses, and a $ 10 off coupon added to my total so, so all three of them cost me less than $ 70. I’d say that that was pretty damned good customer service in my book!

Okay, so I know it is a little weird to review a clothing store chain on Unilocal — but this place deserves it. The staff here are so friendly and nice. I buy everything on clearance here — and the selection is great. Also, it is nice to be able to shop in a place where I can just buy stuff off the rack and not feel like it needs to be altered. They understand here that not all fat people are seven feet tall. Much better than Lame Gyant!
