The place had a roach climb on the wall at the booth we were sitting at and the server blew it off and said its only a palmetto roach. Wow… A roach in a restaurant equals more roaches. Can’t imagine if that same roach walked across your table what the response would be.

Hadn’t been there for a while. Understand that new owners took over. Food is only mediocre and too pricey for what you get. Also too atmosphere is too noisy.

After several visits and sitting at the bar with Sarah taking care of me, this is a great treat. Good food, service, fantastic value!!! I’m still very sold on this place even though I now just get some favorites I crave . Try the bar from 5:30 –7:30 Monday’s or weeknight a for happy hour. You won’t be disappointed and you have to try the grouper fingers!

The décor and overall buildout is pretty good, but the good stuff stops there. From the moment we walked in, you could feel that it was going to be rough. Employees at the front door could care less that you are there. After placing our orders(7 total entrees) it took almost 50 minutes for the food to arrive. I finally had to get up and walk towards the kitchen to ask where our food was. I also asked to speak with the manager. The food arrived within minutes and was literally inedible. I had the chicken piccata. 1) not really a piccata sauce 2) chicken was rubbery, 3 mixed veggies looked like they came out of a can 4) wild rice was rock hard as if it had been cooked for 1 minute. You would hope that after waiting 50 minutes, the food would at least be decent. The manager came by after everyone finished eating. She said«someone wanted to talk with me». Seemed like an odd way to approach our table when she knew exactly what the problem was. She told me that when she became aware of the long ticket it was at 35 minutes. Then she said that a few tables were in front of us. She then said«what do you want me to do». How do you respond to that?! She clearly could care less and was only coming by because I asked for her to. I told her I didn’t need anything, after all, her tone and lack of a servant’s heart didn’t really present anything she could have done for me. To top it off, the server added an auto grat. Wow. To throw an automatic gratuity on a table with service issues… Speechless.

A price increase and a reduction in the serving size does not sit well with me. The past couple of times we have been here the quality and quantity that we were accustomed to receiving from Houndstooth has declined. The buffalo chicken quesadilla has always been a favorite and always was delicious and filling. On Saturday I ordered it and the the chicken was almost absent. All I could taste was tortilla and cheese. The fries were not as abundant as usual either. My wife always gets the stuffed chicken and the time before last it wasnt cooked all the way. That ruined it for her. Get it together or you will lose long time customers.

I work nearby and have frequented houndstooth on several occasions. To be perfectly honest, I do not write reviews typically unless I am very dissatisfied with a business. My first few visits to houndstooth were dine-in experiences with coworkers. Each time has been very blah. You get what you order. It’s very mediocre food and nothing to write home about. My dine in visits, I’d rate a 2.5−3. Most recently I had a spinach salad to go. When I got back with my salad(I work with in a 5 minute walk) I looked and was very displeased. I ended up spending $ 8 for a styrofoam container of spinach. Their were a few sliced mushrooms that made the entire container wreak of old rotten fish and a hard boiled egg that looked disgusting. I understand raw mushrooms do not always smell the best but there were unbearable. The egg was the most pathetic excuse for a hard boiled egg that I have ever seen. The egg was over cooked. Most of the egg white had been picked off while being de shelled and the yolk was turning an odd color. I love hard boiled eggs and eat them multiple times a week. I couldn’t stand to eat this salad. Unfortunately, it got thrown in the trash and the ingredients were wasted, along with my $ 8. I give this restaurant 2 stars, for mediocre dine-in experiences and a reprehensible take-out experience.

Houndstooth Bar & Grill was okay. The restaurant is spacious enough so you have elbow room, but it’s still cozy enough you don’t have to yell to be heard. The food was, well, just okay. I had the fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. The Alfredo sauce was tasty but the shrimp was very salty, which ruined the taste of the meal. The crème brûlée was not good. I don’t know if the custard was overcooked or what, but it was not the consistency of crème brûlée. I don’t know that we’ll be trying this restaurant again anytime soon.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times and have always had wonderful service and food. It can get a little noisy during the busy weekend, but the food has always been good. All and all, a good experience can be had at the Houndstooth Grill & Bar!

What is happening to customer service?! My husband and I have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years and have had a love-hate relationship with Houndstooth the entire time. After our visit on Saturday afternoon, we are not liking it very much and will not be back for a significant span of time. We walked in shortly after 3 o’clock and were greeted by an empty hostess area. The two front dining areas and bar were also empty, so we seated ourselves in the bar. My husband noticed that there was someone in the back dining area so walked over to its entrance to catch the guy’s attention. My husband came back to the table and we waited. The guy in the back never stopped what he was doing or said anything to us. After some time passed, a young lady we have seen before during other visits walked in and went immediately behind the bar and began doing something. She began talking with the guy in the back dining area after a while but never said anything to us. About the time that my husband and I decided we were going to leave, I saw her walk over to the entrance of the back dining area to continue her exchange with the guy. He walked over to her, handed her a couple of menus, and looked out upon us with what I perceived to be an unpleasant expression on his face. I was definitely ready to go! As we walked out, the young lady was very quick to catch us, offering to give us complementary appetizers. We decided to leave anyway. Her response, however, indicated to us that she was not aware that her colleague had allowed us to sit there without being greeted. She also, though, neglected to acknowledge our presence when she walked into the area. Considering the place was completely empty, we were hard to miss. Unfortunately, some variation of this scenario happens more often than not when we visit Houndstooth. Having the restaurant in the neighborhood is great, but we need Houndstooth to improve its customer service!

Went at lunchtime. The food was wonderful but there were flies all over the restaurant, making it a not-so-enjoyable experience. It’s hard to enjoy the meal and swat flies constantly. Might have to pass this one up next time.

This restaurant has possibilities. Though someone else would need to operate the establishment. It’s like a yoyo up and down all the time very consistent with that portion. Not even enough menus for customers… And the place isn’t even crowded… Another on the way out

Absolutely horrible from the time we walked in. I’ll preface this review by saying I’ve been on the industry for 20 years. I’m not usually critical of this type of restaurant, but tonight’s experience was pitiful. We were promptly seated, unfortunately the host didn’t relay the message to the waitstaff. I had to call the counter to get anyone’s attention which was sad considering we had a table next to us. I ordered the mixed seafood grill. $ 25 entrée that was served with mediocre microwaved vegetables, rancid wild rice pilaf and the seafood, the seafood was why I’m writing this review. The tilapia was probably ok, but it was topped with spoiled shrimp, rancid crab meat and 2 of the smallest most rubbery tasting scallops I’ve ever seen. I’m surprised the other tables couldn’t smell the rotten seafood. I didn’t send it back, as I’ve never sent food back. I will vow though to never eat here again.

4 stars for the bar side of Houndstooth, 2 to 3(at best) for the restaurant side. Their business may not ever rival that of Jeffrey’s across the street, but they make up for it w/their unbelievable happy hour appetizer and drink specials ONLYAVAILABLE on the bar side. The 1st time we went there, the host assured us that the happy hour pricing was also offered on the restaurant side, but when we were seated we were told otherwise by a very flaky server. The only upside to the restaurant side is that it has a much nicer atmosphere, whereas the bar is the expanded location that used to be a bike shop, so rough concrete floors and a bland, clinical, retail feel. The service(again, on the bar side!) is friendly, prompt, upbeat and knowledgeable. The food isn’t outstanding(it IS bar food and again, happy hour prices are awesome!); most of it tastes like re-heated frozen, or overly-fried, but I’m in a bar, and it compliments a drink in hand! Houndstooth has been spotty, service and quality-wise, over the years, and we hadn’t been back in easily 5+ yrs, so our few recent return visits have turned our opinion around. But when we take the kiddos to eat there, we try to do so on the earlier side of dinner so we’re not taking up valuable real estate booths in the bar for the people who may want to sit back and booze more than we do. P. S. Love the grilled shrimp skewers and the chicken eggrolls!

We walked in, were seated and nobody even came to ask us for our drink order. After waiting 5 minutes and watching a couple come in after us and greeted by a server, we just walked out. Jeffrey’s Sports Grill across the street was much more inviting and we had great service as soon as we walked in their door!

A little on the pricey side, but for a nice dinner date, this is a good place to go. I have only ordered burgers here, and they have been good.

Taste-wise I want to give the place 4 – 5 stars. The food is delicious, and the menu has a lot of choices. I have to rate it a 3 based on how slow the service is every time I’ve been here. We wait 5 minutes at the door before anyone even seated us. The server was a really nice guy, and he was quick with our drink orders etc. The bar took 15 – 20 minutes to make our cocktails, the restaurant was empty so I don’t know why it took so long. The appetizer we had was the salmon and it was really delicious, but also took a very long time, and no appetizer plates were given to us. We were there for lunch so it should’ve been fairly quick especially since we ordered things that weren’t hot… It took 45 minutes to get our food, and again the place was dead. I don’t understand how this happens? I work in the service industry as well, so I am confused how the kitchen is so slow when the place is dead. I think the food is great, but the service is pretty lacking. Also, when we were sat there were crumbs all over the booth.

We stopped by Houndstooth for lunch on our first day in Braselton for training. When we pulled up, we thought the place might be closed because there were no cars in the parking lot(this was prime lunch time by the way). But we walked up and checked the door and they were open. So, we went in and plopped down at the bar. The bartender/waiter was very friendly and started/kept the conversation going throughout the meal. I ordered the special menu item, a crab avocado salad. I wasn’t too sure of what it would actually be until it came out. It was crab, stuffed in halved avocado pieces, with tomatoes and a balsamic vinaigrette. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with the quality and taste of the food. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is because of the atmosphere. The size of this place it felt it should have been packed at lunch. Maybe we hit it on an off day. It isn’t a fault of the restaurant but with so much open capacity it would be nice to see it really thrive.

I have been one time with my large family after church. The service wasn’t the greatest, my pregnant sister in law(30 weeks) had to wait 10−15min after everyone else to get her food. Fish and chips I may add. We Had 12 in our party and 1 pour waitress with no other offering help. Needless to say no one was really impressed. With it being on the pricy side to begin with & the service may have swayed those in the party but either way, won’t be my first choice in the future.

I could have sworn that only have one chef working in the kitchen. I’ve been here twice so far, once for lunch on a weekday where me and guest were literally the only two at the restaurant, and the next time when my wife and I came for dinner. the first time, I ate here, it took them one and a half hours to bring out our meal, even though we were the only customers there. we would have cancelled our order, but we didn’t see our waitress after we put in our order and she later brought our food out. I ordered a hamburger medium well, but the meat was so charred and burnt the that I was able to take it out and tap it on the table like it was a hockey puck. The second time I went here, it was slightly empty, save for four other customers. We ordered the fried grouper based on the reviews in here. It took them almost 2 hours to bring out our meal!!! And when we did get it, they didnt have any tartar sauce to dip it in. We let our waiter know and they literally came back about 40 minutes later with our sauce. by then, the soggy grouper fingers were even soggier and now cold. That will be the last time we there. WARNING, if you decide to eat here, be prepared to wait a very long time for your food to arrive.
