Ok, so where do I begin. I was at The Men’s Room getting a haircut and my wife came by on her way from Yarn Junkees to the Bead Store. So, I being rather hungry looked at her and said Hungry? She said yes! I said Lupper(Lunch and Supper) she said why not. The Bead Store recommended The Roman Oven next door. When it comes to Italian I am rather picky from living 10 years in Jersey and 4 years in Chicago. About the only place close in the Atlanta OTP area to Jersey style real Italian is Luigi’s and Italian Pie in Dacula. So, long story short we ventured in, this is when my Jersey born wife became very comfortable. The owners, Mom and Dad are from Sicily along with their daughter. To Long Island, NY then South Florida, and now what I refer to as Half Backs now planted here. This is a good thing, so far so good. Being a West Virginia native I could only understand half of what my wife and server were saying once they got going.(Ever see the Nanny on TV with Fran D.?) Next menu time. My wife had a slice of Cheese Pizza and said it was perfect, the three finger fold(that’s her idea of hungry) I, a Caesar Salad with anchovies, another point they had anchovies! Most of the time around here you get. Well the fish is in the dressin’ ! Nope! It’s not a Caesar unless you have real anchovies! The salad was fresh, and the anchovies abundant. Then comes my staple, Penne with Meat Gravy and Meatballs. Penne was cooked perfect, the gravy was grand, and the meatballs were NY style meatballs not bread filler balls. Half of this meal is now in my fridge, thus the size. Huge! Of course not to be outdone I had to order their made in house Tiramisu. Now that was the cats ass! Made me miss Jersey and NYC. This is homemade, not the box drippy, runny, Tiramifakesu you usually find around here. Overall, what a great place. Warning. If you are not used to authentic NYC style /real Italian style independent restaurants you will have culture shock. I am so used to this from South Philly and parts of Brooklyn. It’s true Italian/Sicilian. You come to eat, meet, and enjoy. One to many can wait on you. You take your time, you don’t rush. To me this is what makes it great. You know in Europe a lunch can take 2 hours or more. That’s the way it is. So, I enjoy this place! You should too. My next venture is my heart stopping favorite Penne in a Vodka Gravy. In closing, Pasta ain’t noodles and it’s gravy ain’t sauce. Enjoy

I think this place is a nice addition to Braselton. Have been a few times and was pleased with the food and service. Really attentive staff — you will not be looking for someone to take your order, refill your drink, etc. it seems like they all pitch in to help. In fact, I would say service is 5 stars. Food is good. Not spectacular but very solid and seems fresh and homemade.

As I like the Braselton area in general, and Italian food in particular, I had high hopes for this restaurant. It is conveniently located on the road between Gainesville and Braselton. The décor is nice, but a bit odd, in that there are some rustic elements(raw wood and corrugated metal) right next to carved and polished wood. The tables are spaced far enough apart that it is possible to carry on a reasonably private conversation. At our visit(a Friday at noon) our group(me, my husband, and our son) certainly had ample time to talk. Things started out great, with instant seating and prompt drink service. I ordered a salad and a slice of pizza, because the lunch special pricing was really inexpensive, as it included a soft drink. Hubby ordered two slices, and our young adult son ordered a 6 inch sub sandwich. The waitress explained that toppings for the pizza were 50¢ each, and that the base price was for cheese pizza. I got two toppings, while hubby loaded his with enough toppings to double the price of the entrée. We talked, sipped our drinks and waited. I got a plate with a reasonable amount of salad, but it was only iceberg lettuce and two quarters of a tomato, slathered in oh-so-average blue cheese dressing. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food. We could have been traveling down Friendship Road to one of the best Italian restaurants in nearby Buford(and have ordered) by the time we got our entrees. My slice was tasty enough, and hubby said his two were good. Our son was amazed by the lack of food on his plate. That 6 inch sub looked rather lonely. Given, the prices for lunch were great. However, after adding toppings, our cheap pizza slices were no longer so cheap. Our son’s meal was cheap, but that was because there was only enough food for a child. Hubby shared some of his pizza, but our son left hungry. Bottom line, I won’t be returning to the Roman Oven, as there are better places close by.

I just went here for the first time. It was pretty good. I got the chicken parmesan and some kind of pasta and bean soup. The homemade marinara sauce they make there tastes good and the chicken and cheeses had flavor. The garlic rolls were awesome. The waitress was very nice and helpful and we met the owner who was very involved and nice. The waitress said he was born in Sicily and also had an Italian restaurant in Florida for 20 years before opening The Roman Oven. Our bill was $ 50 for a family of four. I would surely go back.

I would say there are some people on here that don’t know food. Any old food will do because they eat everything and anything… I am beyond SUPERPICKY! Why because I am an extremely skillful cook with a gourmet culinary skill so it is very hard to make me happy. I could never give subway and Chili’s a five star review because their subpar food is crappy at best. I have very high standards and I can tell you, you WONT be disappointed by The Roman Oven. Period. End of story. It’s as if someone’s little Italian Grandmother was back there cooking to ORDER. Hard to find today. Flavor and consistency ALWAYS… I have been coming here since they opened. This is a REAL review… Please feel free to contact me if you need more info or pointers or doubt that. Please just give this place your business. You’ll be so happy you did! We are lucky to have them here in our neck of the woods for a change and FINALLY! Nothing else compares…

We decided to try a «pizza place» recommended by a co-worker. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. This place has so much more than pizza & everything we had was delicious. My favorite is the antipasto salad; you definitely won’t leave hungry.

I found the food to be mediocre at best. The pizza was just ok, the baked ziti was pretty good but way overpriced. Service was ok but not great. I went at lunch time but I looked at the dinner menu. When comparing the food I had at the lunch to the dinner menu pricing, I determined I would not be back for a long while. I think a lot of people got duped by the«fake» reviews they had initially. anytime you see people from out of town(or even local) who has done like 1 or two reviews in a life time, but they rant and rave about a place… it is pretty obvious that it is a close friend of the family, a family member or an employee. As another reviewer mentioned, the sauce is sub par. It reminded me of grocery store canned tomoato sauce. Not very good at all.

They have this restaurant listed as doing delivery, but yet they do not. What a waste of time.

We heard good things on Unilocal but were very disappointed. The sauce unfortunately tasted like canned tomato soup. It just had no flavor and honestly and Italian restaurant has to have good sauce or there is no reason to go there. Though the sandwich was very large it was just laid on a white plate with no pickles, chips etc. not a good presentation. Please make your sauce Italian so you can stick around for awhile

After driving from Charlotte, NC, we stopped at the Roman Oven for lunch. Our experience could be described in one word. GREAT! Our lunch began with delicious garlic rolls and salads. We loved the salad dressing. I had spaghetti with meat sauce, and my wife had baked ziti. Both of those entrees were delicious. Friendly and efficient service.

It would be 5, but the attitude I received when I came in for lunch was a bit shocking. No bad language, but not very patient. She was a bit short with me, and as it was my first time in for lunch and 2nd time total, it did not help my confusion. The gentleman(cook/owner) is VERY nice and welcoming. The food is great and I highly recommend the Buffalo style slice, but be prepared, it is not buffalo sauce, I guess they mean Buffalo NY, it’s their spin on a Margherita pie. Lunch prices are really good for the quality!

We had lunch for a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted and served by the hostess Madison, and enjoyed a very nice lunch. I had the Antipasto salad, and others had pasta dishes. The side bread was excellent! My salad was above average. Combined with the value and friendly service, The Roman Oven is highly recommended.

We ordered pizza from here — yummy! A few days later we decided to try out dinner. I would say it was pretty good — the hostess was awful. Extremely rude. Our waitress was pleasant, food was decent. I don’t think i’ll be going here for dinner again but we will definitely be getting our pizza from here again.

Went there for lunch today with my wife and adult son. I had the chicken parm, my wife had a meatball sub and my son had a chicken Caesar salad. All the meals were delicious and well prepared. The garlic rolls were the best I’ve ever had. Of course we had to have desert, so we split a cannoli which tasted great — rich but light with a taste of almonds. Yumm! Service was excellent and we’re going back soon.

Ok ok. Let’s slow our roll a little. This is a nice little place, with good, not great food. Service was friendly. Pasta Fagioli soup was very good, along with the Garlic Rolls. Chix Parm was good as well as the baked ziti, but I’ve had better. Sauce needs more flavor, tasted vary bland. Nice little restaurant, and a good value. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, instead I settled on 3 stars to off set all the unwarranted 5 star reviews.
