We’ve been to Panda North a dozen times over many years. At best it’s OK, but nothing especially creative or interesting. At its worst, it can be just plain wrong. This was the sorry case our most recent visit. My partner had pork Pad Thai. For some tragic, inexplicable reason it had barbecue sauce in it. Words cannot express how terribly wrong, wrong, wrong it was. My dish was OK but out of balance with way too many green peppers and barely another vegetable in sight although many were listed in the description. If this had been my first visit I would have given it one star and never returned. Previous experiences have been better than this. To make a bad thing worse, the waitress was wearing such a heavy dose of perfume that we were both gagging.

I gave panda north 3 stars because the food was good but the atmosphere was very bland. We went on a Saturday night at 8 were the only people in the entire place. It was so quiet, we were hoping for it to be a little more upbeat. We order the chicken wings, lo mien, fried rice and Mala chicken. Everything was very good and so was the presentation!

I’ve lived in the area for 15 years, and it is still beyond me why so many people like Panda North. Everything I have eaten here is bland, and I would never bring guests because the exterior looks like a dump. Maybe I was spoiled by working right outside of Chinatown in a major city for several years, but there is definitely better food in Bratt than this.

I was really skeptical about this Asian restaurant because my first thought was this must be another really greasy and oily Chinese food. I heard how great their food is but never actually tried it until my visit to Vermont this past weekend. This place is located next to a sketchy motel next door, but don’t judge the area! We came in with four people– we were greeted immediately by this young lady at the front desk. We ordered spicy wonton dumpings, crab rangoons, and terikayi sticks for appetizers. For entrees, we shared two plates of sasame chicken and another plate called«happy family» it has literally everything in one plate: chicken, mushrooms, baby corn, beef etc We also couldn’t help but notice the smell of other people’s dishes! Overall, I would recommend here if you’re stopping by Vermont. It’s a nice casual place to try for lunch or dinner.

Was staying next door at the Hampton Inn and saw the rundown exterior, but the reviews on Unilocal and lack of other options made me choose Panda North. Saw pictures off Unilocal and determined the shrimp and scallops in lobster sauce looked good. Ordered that and egg drop soup now good to go. Very quick service. Online menu said around $ 14 for entrée and $ 2 for soup. Showed up and bill was over $ 22 and was told online menu must have been wrong. Get back to hotel and dig in to my haul. Egg drop soup was standard with crunchy wonton, not bad. Next up was entrée. I pour it over rice and take first bite. Flavorless, bland beyond means. Didn’t taste lobster or even salt. They gave me two packets of soy and a container or duck sauce. Poured it all into my dish to give it any flavor. Still almost no taste. Shrimp and scallops were also way over cooked. Totally disappointing. Sometimes you can tell a book by its cover. Pass over Panda North.

We travel the 20 minutes north to this restaurant regularly. It has good American style Chinese food and sushi for a good price. Service is always good. Atmosphere is fine.

I’ve been coming to Panda North for close to 20 years now. A good reminder never to judge a book by it’s cover. While the exterior could use a bit of a refresh — on the inside the food is delicious and the service is quick. Among my favs on the menu are the sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, bbq spareribs, and the garlic eggplant — though everything I’ve had has been great. The duck sauce and noodles are worth the extra up charge. Lunch specials during the week are a steal — with a smaller menu at about ½ the price of dinner w/soup included. Portions are very generous. They have a full sushi menu that many enjoy as well as a full bar. Good for groups and families.

Wow. We were SO disappointed by the reviews. Not sure what I was expecting for Chinese food in Southern Vermont, but this wasn’t it. I ordered the House Fried Rice and an egg roll, and my husband got the Lamb Mali. Plate presentation was good; see photos. The meat in the rice was good, but the rice itself had no flavor. So disappointing, and it took me quite a bit of sweet & sour sauce to even eat it. The egg roll was typical of fast food Chinese. I ate it, but it wasn’t good. It was pretty greasy, too. Husband said the Lamb Mali was«just ok». He said the meat was tender but didn’t have any flavor at all, but the veggies were good. The dining room is beautiful and large, and their menu was extensive — even indicating what type of dish it was(Cantonese, Szechuan, etc). So even seeing THAT after reading the Unilocal reviews, we got excited. Their plate presentation was even pretty, with large portions at reasonable prices. And it was packed — obviously a local favorite. But this was a total miss for us. Frankly, I’d rather get the $ 6 combo at the mall food court. This just wasn’t good. The only reason they got two stars instead of one was for their pretty dining room.

Road trips are fantastic, but when you options are garbage fast food it leaves a lot to be desired. This restaurant delivered 100%. Everything we got was delicious & the service was attentive and helpful. There are tons of options for everyone and on Christmas day when EVERYTHING else was closed… this was a fantastic choice. We’re foodies from NYC… and we were impressed.

Panda North was a Chinese restaurant we stopped along the way before reaching Stowe, VT from NYC. My wife and I usually never eat Chinese food but we were desperate for somthing in our body before we continued through our journey. Of course we turned to our head restaurant guide, Mr. Unilocal, and took a chance on Panda North. 2 thumps up to Mr. Unilocal once again. Ok lets get to business. Place was a huge palace like establishment which gave me flash backs of China. Their menu was freaking huge which did not limit to just Chinese. They also served Sushi which we passed on. The service, ambiance, price, food presentation was top notch and we were pleasntly surprised for a Chinese establishment. We had the following: — Steamed Chicken with Broccoli — Shrimp Chow Mein — Crab Rangoon(Appetizer) Must have *****S Good Luck on your travels!

Always a favorite. Lived here my entire life and have never been disappointed by the quality of food. Usually have take out from panda north, but every once in a while I eat in and the presentation and staff is always nice. Triple delight is always a favorite. I just wish the outside décor/location did the restaurant justice.

Went based on Unilocal reviews and because it was right off the highway of a major town as we were passing through around dinner time. Service was good considering our waitress was slammed with 4 – 5 tables sat almost all at the same time and one one was an 8-top. Menu is monumental and split Chinese/Japanese(including sushi). The Chinese and Japanese kitchen food was extremely bland but the sushi from the sushi bar(dragon roll) was pretty good! If we go again we’ll only order sushi. The food: Ordered two apps– Crab Rangoon — not very good, nice construction, fried ok but the filling was off– lumpy and flavorless. Perhaps it was made from frozen? Shrimp Balls — unreal serving size, 4– HUGE deep-fried, heavily breaded, hot as hell shrimp flavored jiggly stuff(very dim-sum) had loads of texture character, but lacked any depth and flavor. Dragon Roll– we almost always order this when it is on a menu. Quite a well executed rendition and easily the highlight of the meal. The unagi that topped it could have been braised a bit more, but it was cooked through and was good. Chicken Teriyaki came out so late we just took it to go(we were driving through on the road.) my wife ate it the next day heated it up and said it was the blandest thing she’d ever eaten. Perhaps this place caters to the locals who like mild flavors(this seems to be largely the case in this area of the country), but for out-of-towners with more diversely exposed pallets it was quite a let down.

I’ve been to Chinese food restaurants all over the northeast and these are literally the best crab rangoons ever. The food here is simply amazing!

The food here is wonderful, and the prices are fantastic. Both the Chinese and Japanese food is delicious. I highly recommend the lunch boxes, which provide more than enough food for a satisfying meal.

Lunch here is the best deal in town, no competition… and even if there was Panda North would win. Big fan of the hot and sour soup, even bigger fan of the prawn amazing. If you tried to compare Panda North with a chain it would be PF Changs , Changs would lose every day do the week. Best place in Brattleboro bar none.

We’ve been coming to Vermont for several years and have eaten at Panda North perhaps a dozen times. Strangely, we never got around to writing about it until now. So, This is a delightful, delightfully friendly and consistently satisfying high-quality American-style Chinese restaurant that also serves up some pretty good Japanese cuisine. We suspect there’s not a large enough Asian community in this area to warrant serving what some would call more«authentic» Chinese offerings. But what is served here is surpassingly good and fresh; when they present a plate of lobster and crab, it’s really lobster and crab and not a substitute fish. The veggies are crisp and not buried in sauces(the mala scallops, shrimp and lamb are probably as «saucy» as it gets here). There’s a big variety of dishes on the menu; we mentioned Japanese, and we are fond of the uncommonly fresh, generous slices of sashimi(about 5.50 average for two pieces). Entrees range from about $ 11 to $ 18 and the kitchen is very responsive to special requests. In fact, everyone connected to this restaurant has a very customer-frienbfly attitude; the place fairly oozes happiness. It has a casual atmosphere, and you’ll find a lot of families dining here regularly(please take our word for it – locals love it). You can get beer and wine and some cocktails, and there’s a sushi bar, too. And here’s the bottom line for us: all those times we’ve eaten here we’ve never — NEVER — come away disappointed. Our rating is a heck of a lot closer to 4.5 stars.

I love, love, love Panda North! The interior is nothing special… typical carpeting, various chinese lanterns, etc. But what they do well is what you come here for… and that’s the food. Panda North has the best lo mein I’ve ever had. It doesn’t get any better for me and I’ve tried Chinese down the east coast and back. I still can’t find a lo mein I can call better… or that even comes close, for that matter! Also — the best scallion pancakes and some of the greatest crab rangoon. In the last few years, they added a sushi bar to the mix and now, in addition to all the American-Chinese awesomeness there is Japanese awesomeness, too. The miso soup is delicious. Sadly, they do no deliver, but take-out is available and totally worth driving up to Exit 3 to grab it. The service — is incredible. They have the most friendly servers on the face of the earth — all of them are exceptionally professional, kind, and prompt. Everything is with a smile. I love this place… can you tell?
