My favorite crappy chinese food place! Probably loaded with msg and sometimes things are inexplicably battered & fried(like the Bar B Q chicken skewers i’ve ordered many times before but were randomly fried today, which made it so I couldn’t eat them). Crab Rangoon is most definitely not real crab, but that is how I like them. Beef with Broccoli, Beef Bar B Q, & General Tso’s are all good. For the most part standard chinese food and you’ll usually get what you’re expecting. They are always polite but they only take cash and you have to be very specific & repetitive if you have any diet restrictions as they really don’t want the free rice or fortune cookie. It’s almost always completely empty so your food is ready faster & It’s nice and quiet, It had this ridiculously bad 80’s décor that is probably my favorite part about it.

Chun Yan was a really nice surprise. We went for lunch not long after they opened and chose to try the small buffet so we could sample different items. The boneless grilled chicken was really good – tasted like duck! I also really enjoyed their salt and pepper chicken, a usually safe bet at these joints. The mister thought their chicken wings were very good. It looks like a family business, the hostess/waitress/cashier had her adorable baby and everybody was quite friendly. I’m looking forward to ordering takeout some night.

Tucked in the Hannaford Plaza next door to the vacant Home Depot«space»(the smaller local hardware stores won). Chun Yan is a typical looking strip plaza Chinese takeout restaurant which has a deep space with long rows of tables between the front door and the order counter. The standard Chinese dishes(Szechuan, Hunan & Cantonese cuisine) are offered at at good prices, most dishes under $ 10. 35 Lunch Specials($ 4.70-$ 5.40) and 30 Special Combination Platters($ 6.20-$ 7.70) are offered as well. A Daily Lunch Buffet with fountain soda(Coke products) included($ 6 adults/$ 3.50 kids under 10) is served until 3PM with over 30 items offered including veg fried rice, veg lo mein, egg rolls(snack size), crab rangoons, chicken fingers, mushrooms, sesame chicken, egg foo young, tater tots, mixed vegetables, beef & vegetables, fried dumplings, chicken teriyaki sticks, wonton soup, hot & sour soup, and desserts(Chinese donuts, jello, fruit, jelly roll, cookies). I’ve been here for the lunch buffet and for dinner takeout. The lunch buffet is definitely a good value for the money and pretty decent, no waiting. The food on the buffet trays is left out in small batches, though some items have been lukewarm. The chicken teriyakis are pretty good which have tender slightly chewy boneless chicken with a sweet taste. For dinner takeout, I’ve ordered the C12 Roast Pork Lo Mein Combination($ 6.50) served with pork fried rice and egg roll, which is cooked hot and fresh to order in the open kitchen. The lo mein noodles are cooked just right with a good mix of tender roast pork strips and fresh sliced mushrooms and vegetables. The fried rice(light yellow color) has a mix of tender roast pork pieces and sauteed onions in firm rice. The egg roll is wide and filled with cabbage and ground pork. Overall, Chun Yan is a pretty good place to stop in the area for Chinese lunch and dinner and is easy on the wallet.
