It has a nice, intimate set up and the fire is great. The food was average, nothing I’d return for. The drink I ordered was so strong I had to ask for more mixer, and I do like strong drinks but… whoa! Attentive service but the place only had one other couple.

Just had a reception after a funeral for 40 people. The food was excellent and the service couldn’t have been better or more friendly. Definitely make this a must do if you’re in Brattleboro.

So pleasantly surprised by The Tavern! We stopped in to check it out… It is the perfect place to come have a few drinks and watch the game! Tracy is awesome and Greg the Great is the most talented chef, serving up an award winning Reuben and delicious local craft beers. Seriously, you cannot go wrong here. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the food is wonderful! Bonus that when they brought the check it was about half of what we anticipated. So well priced, especially for the quality! Will definitely be back! :D

We had a good meal at the Tavern. Started with soup and both kinds were great. We both had the flank steak salad which was excellent and the wine choices were good and a nice full pour. Ended our dinner sharing salted chocolate Carmel pie which was very good but should be served cold. Our waitress was congeal and efficient. A good dinner !

The bartender was so accommodating and personable. They just opened under new ownership a few days prior, and she was willing to make us drinks based on what we wanted, as they were still waiting for some liquor to come in. We had an appetizer. The roasted red pepper hummus was made in house and delicious. I would go again just because of how kind they all were

Just finished dinner here. Wow. Great experience. I was not expecting much from a small town. But The Tavern is the place to dine in Brattleboro. The food was delicious and presentation was spectacular. Great local beer selection. My wife was even able to find wine usually only found in big cities. The restaurant has a clean, welcoming and family friendly atmosphere. I am looking forward to dining here again.

i did not realize this place was part of a motel until now. Some friends and I walked over from the Holiday Inn across the street last week while in town for a visit. It’s got a good ambiance. Dark décor and dimly lit. Yummy desserts appear on a big board menu on the wall with local brews. One thing I did notice was — who said drinks in a small town in Vermont was cheaper than DC? I had Bombay Sapphire with tonic and it was $ 9, around the same price it would be in DC. But no rowdy college crowd, and no overwhelmingly loud party music. It seemed like a nice family-run dining saloon with a decent bar.

Good beer selection 9 taps. It’s a small place with cozy seating and friendly staff. The pasta was done well and the sweet potato fries were cooked properly. They shutdown early 9pm so if you want a late beer find some place else.

Have eaten here twice now. Atmosphere is cozy nice, food is forgettable. Had butternut pasta once. Way too sweet, pasta overcooked. Had an excellent new england clam chowder followed by the worst looking and tasting ceasar salad in my life. Ceasar salad is a basic simple restaurant staple. You shouldn’t have on the menu if you can’t pull it off. All iceberg romaine ends with little to zero green and alot of brown. Brown lettuce!?? Someone else in my party got the same and also felt chowder was great and salad was very poor. If I wasn’t in a semi business meeting I woulda returned to kitchen. Yes, his was as bad looking as mine. 2 stars food. 4 stars atmosphere.

First and foremost, excellent beer selection. 9 taps — usually a mix of local/New England brews and various others from around the country. The bottle selection is equally impressive — ecclectic mix that is sure to offer something for everyone. The bar itself is amazing — made of copper and shines beautifully. There is a large brick fireplace along one wall that offers warmth and cozy ambience while dining. Overall, it’s a very nice atmosphere. The food is decent — the mussels here are fabulous and it’s usually my first and only choice off the menu. The rest of the menu is typical pub far — burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. I’ve never heard a complaint from anyone I’ve dined with. During peak ski season this place gets super busy due to skiers lodging at the Colonial next door. Tables usually turn over quick, but keep it in mind when scouting out places to eat Nov-Mar.
