Hubby and I have been browsing this store for the last few years. I believe we first knew about the artwork from the Bowers Museum. While we always browsed and respected the artwork, we never bought anything. However, they now have these adorable zodiac statues. As Mother’s Day is coming up, we found the ox statue, and thought it would be a great gift for hubby’s mom(my mother-in-law). Finally bit the bullet last week and got it. The service is great. While we’ve always been greeted very politely at anytime, we’ve never been pressured to buying anything. We were assisted by a young man last week when we came by on a weekday. While we did want to buy the ox statue, each statue is hand-made and is different because of the glass, the fire, the creator, the environment, etc. He was very patient with us, and allowed us to see all of the ox statues so that we could choose a specific one that fit our tastes. We picked the ox statue that had a much more crooked head because it looked like it was confused. Kind of looks like the facial expression that hubby has quite often. :P He also wrapped the gift and placed it in a nice bag. Price-wise it may be considered high for something that isn’t too useful. This is art; you’re paying for the appreciation of the handiwork that went into it. There were definitely other items in the four– and five-digit range, which we can hardly fathom in getting. The zodiac statues are a little over $ 100, so they’re not too bad in breaking the bank. All of the glass statues are beautiful, and they have a number of different themes: zodiac, Buddhas, nature, calligraphy, columns, etc., All are unique in different ways, delicate, and EXTREMELY detailed. You also have chopsticks, teapots, necklaces, rings, earrings, and small miscellaneous holders if you want something that would see a little bit more use than a statue that is just a paperweight. Do be aware, though, to NOT touch any of the items! If you’re interested, ask for assistance. Don’t risk accidentally breaking one of the statues. Will probably be back. Saw a SUPER-cute dragon statue that looks like hubby’s spirit animal. :P

I stumbled upon the Liulu Gallery while shopping at the Brea Mall. With its very attractive, shiny, and colorful display of crystal art, one can’t help but walk inside the gallery with curiosity and awe. The shop contains a wide assortment of glass pieces from Chinese zodiac figurines to decorative vases to lovely pendants to gorgeous tableware. Everything on display is made through the wax casting technique of pâte-de-verre or cire-perdue. It is evident that all the glass art are meticulously crafted to the highest of standards. As such, I couldn’t leave the gallery without making a purchase. Being the sentimental person that I am, I chose to buy a piece commemorating my son who was born the year of the snake. There were a few snake figurine options, however, I decided on the«happy looking» snake. If you’re looking to purchase something unique and elegant for that special someone in your life or even just for yourself, consider this establishment for that one-of-a-kind gift.
