Went there for the first time tonight, it was different. Sushi rotating on a belt is kinda sketchy so we just orders from the waitress, then tried a few pieces and the cheesecake from the belt, all was good and we ate a lot for what we paid, 4 stars only because I didn’t like the way my tempera was prepared. But everything else was good.

Well, I have been here many times. But no longer. I talked a buddy into joining me for sushi. I usually dive into the All You can Eat for $ 20. He agreed to join me, though he thought $ 20 was a lot for lunch. When we arrived I had the waiter explain the All You can Eat lunch options. He reviewed it and advised the lunch was $ 24 today. It turns out to be a holiday, president’s day, so they raised the price. We were both working that day, not a holiday for us. I thought this was a little bait/switch item, but he and I agreed to stay for lunch. Our final bill came out to $ 58. I just happened to have a $ 10 off coupon for«any order of $ 50 or more». The waitress(not the same waiter who reviewed the lunch options) advised that they cannot take coupons against the all you can eat menu item. What? Nope. This did not come up in the review when the waiter explained the all you can eat lunch options. I asked for the manager but he was not in today and apparently no one else was in charge as Acting Manager for me to discuss my concerns. I reviewed the coupon and it had no exclusions for the All You Can Eat menu items. It states«not valid with any other offers, specials or discounts». The All You Can Eat is not a special, but a standard menu item. Having two-hit bait and switch practice in a single visit has me no longer looking at this as a family friendly place. There are plenty of incredible lunch places in the area that don’t take advantage of their loyal customers. I will call the manager, Kevin, tomorrow, to see how he will address and will update then.

I’ve always stop by this place since it’s closed to home and pretty fresh. Gotta say it had came to point that the restaurant doesn’t stand up for its name— in motion since there is none on the conveyor belt. We had the worse service last night ever. Salmon sushi frozen with crunchy ice. Shrimp tempura was rubberish. I asked to refill the tea pot since the water has gone cold. The waitress actually poured the rest of the tea in our cups, saying there were still some more and not refilled the pot. Doh— She then returned scissored fingers my Amex credit card«announcing» it was declined and she had tried twice. My cell phone kept beeping at the meantime cuz fraud charge warming from Amex. Makes you wonder why~~ The overall quality has came down and service non existing as well. Not recommending anymore ~~

The sushi is decent here. I like the revolving sushi concept and 80% of the dishes are $ 2 ecclesiology to some are $ 3. The dinner prices are reasonably price. The ramen noodles are delicious here. The chicken teriyaki plate offered a generous amount of chicken and sides. So nothing to complain about here :). One happy customer If you check in you get the garlic edamame for free! But I do have to say it was on the salty side.

Ok, I tried sushi in motion, had a sushi craving. What I actually got was a mountain of rice covered by tiny pieces of the the main reason why I came here… SUSHI !!! Which is not fresh. I couldn’t eat much because I got full on rice… hahaha!!! I hope us Unilocalers will continue to let these establishments know they are over killing good food. Perhaps this place should have been named«rice bowl».

I came here with a significant other for dinner and was very pleased with everything. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and helpful. This place offers all you can eat price for 19.95 or you can just buy by the plate for 2 bucks each. Only thing i can critique is the lack on Uni on the menu, which is only offered at the Costa Mesa location:(Although she really liked the garlic edemame and the yakult served on the belt. Other than that the atmosphere was good and was a clean environment. Will return again.

Have to give these guys credit, they have revamped the way they do sushi Before: I would come when they opened and all the conveyers would be filled with sushi and I was the only one there. The food came out warm and not tasty. I stopped going. Now: You order the sushi off a list and have it prepared for you and small appetizers and desserts are on the conveyer. Food comes out 10xs fresher and better tasting. Love a good comeback.

The only thing in motion around this conveyor belt was ginger, wasabi, and dessert. Where’s the sushi?! With an hour left until closing and about 8 tables still seated, everyone had to order through their server. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this a revolving sushi restaurant? Just when I didn’t think it could get worse since my last visit, this happens. I came in for a quick bite and if we knew there was no sushi being served on the belt before we got sat, I would’ve taken my business elsewhere. Sushi quality and size was same as last time which isn’t a good thing and I know to set my expectations low when it comes to revolving sushi. Fish to rice ratio and totally off and you just end up with a bunch of rice in your mouth. There is also a huge design flaw when the whole conveyor belt wraps around the store. This means the food takes forever to get back to you when there is anything on it and if no one likes a particular choice, it just stays on the belt. I saw the same albacore that was on the belt when I sat down and when I left on my previous visits. That would definitely get someone sick. The service was great as always but with the many different orders of sushi being put in by all the tables, food was naturally coming out so slowly. My last and final visit was a complete chore.

Great service, not so great food(and that’s putting it nicely). It was my first time here and I decided to try the AYCE sushi which was $ 19.95 on the weekdays. Honestly, it was like AYCE rice. I felt as if I ate bowls of rice from twenty rolls(ridiculous amount of rice…) Also, keep in mind there’s a charge if you leave leftovers.

This review is for the Sushi in Motion in Brea, California, USA. The selling point is viewing trays of food on a conveyor belt that snakes all over the restaurant, pick your favorite dish, and count the bill y the number of plates picked. A la carte is also available. The notion is not new and originated in Asia. There are some restaurants in Tokyo with rivers, lakes, boats, or high, sharp bleeding edge tech and absolutely mind-blowing. That said, the experience did not translate well here. The conveyor is way too long with many tables and hungry foodies in between you and your food. It translates to a long wait or having to order from the menu. …And now twice we have experienced the restaurant sans food belt. We arrived, waited, and after 20 minutes we had to order on the side, the belt ran continuously with no food or just toppled over signs. To go three times and barely or not experience the sushi in motion doesn’t tempt you to try a fourth time. A real waste of time on the third visit, taking an hour to eat. Ambiance is okay, food is tasty, it is not busy(except where the conveyor starts) most of the time, and the staff is friendly. but the wait time just kills the joy of the experience. There are similar mom-n-pop restaurants in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles that fit the bill much better, being either smaller and a nice Asian look, or having a well trained, speedy cooking staff. The Good: Food, if you ever get hold of it, is above a-ok, plenty of parking, clean atmosphere. The Meh: Good try, didn’t take. Ordering via menu makes the trip seem blah. The Bad: The wait for, or not food in the conveyor. «In Motion» is more than a suggestion, it’s your business name, try it some time. Not recommendable. =/

It’s pretty modern look spacious for a rotating sushi place with lots of seating, but despite that, it still feels kind of sad in here. I still prefer Kula for my rotating sushi place. I think this place is better than Gatten. Depending on the plates, the prices are different. They have an AYCE option, which can be a better value and then you don’t have to worry about which plates to grab… since it can add up pretty quickly. Some of those roll prices, I wouldn’t want to grab unless it was AYCE. I actually like that they have a bunch of essential sauces conveniently on the side for you; spicy mayo, eel sauce, sweet chili, garlic, ponzu, etc. So… if something doesn’t taste good, you can always cover up that fishy crappy taste drenching with all kinds of sauces that they also do in a lot of American sushi roll places. lol Just a tiny bit is fine. I like the Salmon Candy sushi is actually pretty good… instead of rice, it’s crab meat underneath… How funny. They can have a lot of random stuff rotating around too like strawberry… lol where are the good sushi? I don’t want strawberry! Not Fruits In Motion! I think I just end up getting the same thing, the Salmon Candy… and just putting on different sauces on it. LOL Sometimes, the ones rotating can be depressing and you end up waiting for something decent to come out… It seems like they gather all the leftovers at the end of the night and put it in the freezer… for next day? O_O Service is eh… they have large TV screen usually showing sports and the guys seem more focused on that than serving… not that they have much to be serving, since you’re supposed to grab most of it yourself. I’d probably come again, though. The salmon is pretty good.

The star is only for the politeness of the staff. Food is not fresh, don’t taste fresh and it don’t even look fresh… I guess you get what you paid for… The sushi was obviously bad, the ramen was nothing to write home about either… Portion is very small and tasted like instant ramen… It is surrounded by much better restaurants. So I can understand why it is always empty no matter what time or day you go. I knew it was bad when I see the Unilocal reviews, but we had no choice. All the other restaurants were full and had a long wait time… Definitely will not go back no matter how long the wait is for the other restaurants!

Service: very good. The male server was very nice and polite … but I didn’t give much tips due to 5 bucks overcharge for leftover food and how they failed to turn on the conveyer belt. Pricing: reasonable, check out the pix I posted. ***but they charged 5 bucks for unfinished food. Hello, it was just me and 2 kids. Why they gave us a huge plate of tempura avocado. There were more than 15 pieces. They should have known better. Best way to trick or to Rip off any patrons… fyi…we can only order 3x, because they already shut down the conveyer belt 1.5 hours prior to closing. And I ordered that avocado during round 3, they should have known better. Feel like they just want to charge more by giving more and knowing we won’t be able to finish it, Seriously!!! one adult and 2 little kids, come on now, think people… Please put on your thinking cap… your mind is a beautiful thing, don’t waste it. Clean: Perhaps there are micro organism that we can’t see with naked eyes. Think I got food poisoning from this place. I’ve been feeling so sick since then. Food: taste ok… Not the best quality, I had better ayce sashimi.. But that was already expected. Tips: 8 or 9% tips… No conveyer belt toward last 1.5 hours. My kids were so disappointed.. come on, not closing for another 1.5 hrs., turn on that damn thing. So… I was forced to order on paper… great how the hell I know the amount we need. Another way for customers to accidentally order to much and have left over. And of course that means over charge fee for them. Yeah for them, what da for patrons. With conveyer belt, we can just get as much as we need. Rip off. Ok… why 1 star.. Well I was there on Monday night, I felt sick immediately after I got home around 9:30 pm, I threw up twice on Monday night, couldn’t sleep well. On tuesday, I was so weak, completely lost my appetite, I only had one banana the entire day. I slept at 7pm tues and woke up at 6 am wed(not to mention I had a quiz wed at school and I could not even study for it). Wednesday and Thursday, all I ate were beef soup that I made and protein bars. And today, which is Friday, I had a sandwich and a bowl of beed noodle soup. After I ate their food on Monday night, I felt so sick. I can’t eat much, and whenever I eat, I feel like I want to throw up. Like right now! My stomach can’t handle food as if. So upset. It ruins my exercise routine. I love working out ok! I want my money back. Their food so not clean, if my s/s were to continue, I’ll need to waste money to pay my copay and meds. If you don’t want to get sick, don’t go there! It’s not clean! …so pissed.. I ain’t gonna go there ever again. I don’t wanna get sick again! …so sad, made me so weak and miserable.

Came here on a Saturday, we were surprised that hit was surprisingly empty. But the sushi I give 4 stars Wish they had more on sushi in motion. But the service was swift and attentive. Travis was fun and polite… As well as the other guys were great as well. Free desert if you check in or follow on social media outlets… Love it! $ 2 per plate C’mon! We’ll be back!

I don’t know how this place has 4 stars. I thought the fish didn’t have that great of a taste, and it was probably hard to tell since the tuna and salmon sushi only have a little sliver of fish, and a huge piece of rice under it. For $ 20 All you can eat, you can definitely go to a different sushi bar and have better quality fish AND a bigger fish portion. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is nice and clean. I liked that it was a revolving sushi bar, but most of the time they didn’t have what i wanted on the conveyor belt, so i ordered from the waitress. Definitely get the All you can eat option because for $ 2 a plate, the price can add up. Me and my girlfriend ate a total of 44 plates until we were both full. So it would’ve been $ 88 but instead it was like $ 40 something. All in all for $ 20 all you can eat, you should definitely go to a different sushi bar and get good quality fish and decent portions of fish. Sushi in motion only gives you a little sliver of tuna… and it doesn’t even taste good, i had to mask the flavor with the spicy mayo sauce because the taste wasn’t that good.

Revolving Sushi gone wrong, very very wrong. This was a family gathering(17 peeps) For a large group on short notice, this place can accommodate it. We got 3 big booths. The problem was apparent from the start. They didn’t have a lot of selection going around the conveyor belt. I was there almost an hour and I didn’t see any Tuna, Masago, Ikura, Anago, nada! Not a single piece. They had Salmon in abundance, but that’s it. Very disappointing. Here’s the rundown The Good Karaage — Fried Chicken w/a good aioli. Baked Mussels — I don’t think they can mess this one, even if they tried. Lol. Garlic Edamame — wow. This was the Unilocal check in offer. Garlic & I believe miso combine to make a really tasty dish. The so so Cajun Salmon — it was ok, but it didn’t have any Cajun spice to it. Candy Salmon — no rice, crab salad took its place. Smoked Salmon — different, but weak smoke flavor. Salmon — it was ok Baked Scallops — not enough scallops Tempura — very oily Udon — ok Watermelon — ok The bad Red Snapper — tasted old Squid — more rice than squid Albacore — yuck The Terrible Miso Ramen — SUPERSALTY. this was for my son. He loves noodles and he hatted this one. My wife tasted it first and said it was okay.(I think she tasted the top part of the broth, which was still watery) once mixed, it was inedible. I couldn’t eat it and I like it salty. White Fish w/Ginger — old and tasted off. Even the ginger couldn’t hide that. Kimchi — nasty! I like kimchi and this was the worst kimchi I’ve tasted. Service was okay. We got any of the appetizers we requested. Circling the drain. When I got there, I spotted an octopus sushi(Tako) on the conveyor belt. It was still there when I left. Price wise you’re better off going somewhere else. A solid 4 Star sushi place, this is NOT. Poor selection, If you like Salmon and California rolls, come here. Because that’s basically what they had. Sushi should be all about the fish. The fresher the better, it wasn’t here. 2015 Review #72

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – ESSENTIALTIPS&EXECUTIVESUMMARY: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – # This is one of your conveyor belt sushi joints, right next door to Olive Pit Mediterranean Grill and On The Hook. Best way to drive in and park is through entering the road between Green2Go and McDonald’s from Imperial Highway # Fish quality is fine, but not the best. The sushi here is quite«cute» as in small. Running at $ 2 – 4 per plate on average, it adds up if you eat more than a meditating monk. My bill for 4 plates of food was $ 16. Err that’s quite a bit for not feeling 80% full. # You can consider doing All You Can Eat for $ 19.95(M-Th) or $ 24.95(F-Su). If you’re going to eat more than a few plates, it may be best to go AYCE here though there are better all you can eat sushi places like Zip Sushi in Little Tokyo, which has better quality fish for the same AYCE price they charge here. # Your regular nigiri is fine and the rolls are too but they’re small. I think the best strategy may be to get a bowl of noodles and a few plates off the conveyor belt. # Servers are friendly, but the service is really spotty and at times clumsy. They have more than enough staff here for the number of people. I felt that the servers were just idling. I only got my orders in because another server or busser would walk by me to ask how I was doing. It wasn’t the same server looking after me. Then I wouldn’t see the other server or busser again, but my original server would finally come back. # The conveyor belt’s food items are organized in groups which slows down the eating process significantly. All of the salmon nigiri come at once, then the california roll in, and look! The dessert train is running by. Chooo Choo! The dessert train is still going… oh man has it been 3 minutes? Choo Choo! I think the restaurants want to put cheesecake in my caboose. Anyways, it takes forever and a lot of the sushi items were missing from the belt too so I had to resort to ordering on a paper form. # Anything with«candy» in front of it like«candy salmon» means that it’s mixed in with imitation crab and sauce, giving it a sweeter taste. I personally pass on those and anything dishes with imitation crab since it has a bunch of fillers aka bullshit in it. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – MYEXPERIENCE: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – I can’t believe I noticed this enough to complain about it, but their chopsticks here suck. How do I know? Ergonomics? What the F? Yes, you heard me. My right hand was starting to get sore from holding it in the chopstick position and mentally I said What the F? I don’t sore in my hands! I examined the chopsticks carefully and found that they are slightly thinner than your average pair. Here I was this, this crazy guy examining his chopstick form and saying AHA! My fingers are too scrunched together in the chopstick position. THISISN’T NATURAL! Then everyone turned around and looked at me with strained, perplexed faces. That didn’t happen, but the chopstick problem did. Next, the service. I like the staff because they were pleasant. However, pleasant doesn’t take orders, check up on the food, update you, or refill your water glass. At 8PM there was plenty of staff for the number of guests dining inside. They didn’t ignore me because they hated me. More like, ignored because they weren’t being attentive. I think a lot of the servers weren’t 100% there on decisive in thinking hey I should make my rounds around the restaurant to check up on guests. At one point, a server took my water glass and said it would be refilled. It went missing for a good 5 – 10 minutes. I was considering sketching out a picture of my water glass on my napkin then go asking around the people at the other tables. Excuse me. Pardon me. But have you seen this cup?! I also began planning to put my sketch on the Pennysaver mailer, but after getting the price over the phone, I got over it. It would’ve cost me more money to recover my water glass than to get a new one. I asked another server if I can get my water glass back or a new one. She said yeah and I guess the server who took my water glass heard me say this because she my brought my glass back. It wasn’t refilled and the other server I asked didn’t bring me water either. I’m mildly annoyed at this point and decided I didn’t want to eat anymore because I have to work to eat. Plus, Sushi In Motion is on the pricier end for what you get anyways. The food was fine, but as I said before, the sushi pieces were too cute for me and the price to value ratio was off. I could have just raised the plate of sushi at a 45 degree angle and slide them down my throat like a monster with an insatiable appetite. This restaurant has the potential to be so much better, but whether it will lie with management. And the free garlic edamame I got from my check-in is too salty

Clever name, neat décor concept. The sushi and rolls are«in motion» moving around the conveyor belt. The partitions are blue like ocean waves. Plenty of booths for you to sit comfortably as you snatch the swimming sea creatures from the current onto your table. This can be the most or the least expensive conveyor-belt sushi meal you’ll have. Ironically, the hungrier you are, the less you’ll pay. Here’s why: –AYCE for adults= $ 19.95 M-Th, $ 24.95 F-Sat and holidays –À la carte = $ 2 – 4 a dish We weren’t hungry enough for the all-you-can-eat and ended up paying almost $ 25 a person anyway. The sushi was decent quality– salmon, tuna, etc., but most of the better ones were tagged at $ 4. So basically, we didn’t eat enough to make it worth our money. They also have more upscale items not on the belt and not included in the AYCE in case you’re feeling fancy. Small details I liked were the sauces on the table you can dress your rolls with to spice or pretty them up. There’s also a fun $ 9 Spicy Tuna Challenge(maybe next time). The belt was well-stocked even though there were only about 3 tables full when we were there. Saves us the trouble of having to flag a server. They also honored the Unilocal check-in for the free garlic edamame without hassle. Free dessert is also offered for a couple other social media actions you can take. Come starved on a weekday, and you’ll be diving in to a raw AYCE deal coupled with the fun of fishing for you own sushi as it circles around you. Come half-hungry, and your wallet will be starving instead.

I was nearby and was in the mood for sushi and wanted to check this off my bookmarks. I went on Sat and ayce was $ 25. Good amount of customers, one side of the restaurant was filled. I got several plates of salmon of different types, some crunch rolls, eel, and inari and a tiny slice of cheesecake($ 3). Garlic edamame($ 3) which I got for free with Unilocal check in. This place has a great selection of fish and rolls on the belt going around though some plates felt really warm with raw fish on top so I didn’t get them. Though for some of the selection, all of it was gone by the time the belt was near me. They take card and good parking.
