Tony’s Deli

When I think of a deli it’s natural to expect that bagels, bread, pastries, etc, are made in house and on-​sight. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a local deli? While the service is friendly the food doesn’t stack up to your typical deli experience at Tony’s.
This small spot needs a big makeover and to avoiding ordering from food distributors to become a true deli. For example, their bagels (while many people think they are fresh because they are sitting in clear plastic bags behind the counter) are ordered frozen and shipped to the store. The cashier assured us they taste fresh, however, after putting them in their special toaster. The first bite assured me these were not fresh bagels. Bi-​Lo or Ingles has fresher bagels.
While we couldn’t find anything made from scratch in house like you’d expect from a deli (their breads weren’t either) the breakfast burritos were large enough (and affordable) to stab off more disappointment. If you’re hungry (and headed to the Davidson River to fish) you’ll be full eating one of their breakfast burritos. The french toast also looked good, too.
As for lunch sandwiches you’ll find average here, too. If you’ve been to Jersey Mikes — there’s are better, as would Panera, Atlanta Bread Company, McAllisters and Jason’s. Tony’s is a step above Subway, however, and you’ll likely not have a big line to contend with. Sadly, it wasn’t what we expected when we drove here for a true deli experience.

We stopped here for lunch not expecting much of anything. Not true! Really good sandwiches with really great prices. Great bagels, egg sandwiches are super at incredibly fair prices. Even good lox and bagels. Not fancy but this is a great place to jump in for a great sandwich at a great price.

Not much for ambiance, but hey, it’s a really great deli.

This is a nice little place for breakfast and lunch. They have really nice bagels and the prices are quite good.
