I have seen the the good, the bad reviews, and the ugly reviews. I grew up going to this deli when it was owned by Joe Wheldon in the late 60s and through the 70s, only occupying about half the space they have now. Huge changes, to be sure, in everything from expectations of coffee quality, to clientele, to managing the crowd at peak times. As a stalwart for nearly 50 years, I will say they still do all the great wedge classics, like roast beef, tuna salad, smoked turkey, and very fresh chicken salad. This is how I got to know the place. I also love the breakfast sandwiches, reading the NYTimes in line waiting to order from what is now Wheldon’s stationers(used to be Pete’s). I get a an egg and ham on a toasted butter role, it’s all good. What’s not good is what other people comment on regarding pace of service, mismatched orders, etc. Full staff at peak times could do better sometime but it a small place in a small village. It’s an institution at this point. My kids are old enough to start eating there, so I will take them.

Slow service food not very good… coffee resembles cowboy coffee(using the sock of a cowboy for a filter) better places on the block with much better food… not going back again… oh and why do you charge extra for egg whites. same eggs right?

Okay bagels. Weak effort. No meat on the sandwiches. Egg sandwich was pitiful. Roll on the stale side.

After years of breakfast, lunch, and the occasional dinner(often times in the same day), the market never dissapoints. Best deli in the tri-state area. HANDSDOWN. Friendly staff(shout out Frank, Linda, & Rick), amazing food, and great location. If you haven’t been to the market, you haven’t been to Briarcliff.

Just not a very good deli. Food is pricey and only OK, and while the service is friendly, it’s not quick — nobody is hustling behind the counter. Briarcliff has a bunch of businesses like this one. They have a bit of a captive audience and get by on location; we all go in there when we just don’t have the time to run up to Rocky’s or over to P’ville.

We just moved to bcliff and I want to try everywhere. Went here last Saturday at 11. There was no coffee left? I tried pumping some out and two employees saw me and did nothing… they should refill the coffee until at least 12! This is prime time brunch time for the love of god. Then I ordered two wraps and the bread was stale or frozen I couldn’t tell… gross. it was also tiny like a child would have been full…

This place is a busy spot in the morning but price gouging is heavy handed. This morning i was charged 75 cents for 1 extra slice of cheese on my breakfast sandwich. Wow. Also I’ve noticed that though staff use gloves, they do not remove or change their gloves beween handling money and preparing food. Yuck.
