China Star

One and a half stars.
I hate to do this to a Chinese take-​out joint since it’s probably run by some family with a gillion members, but man how can take out ever go wrong? So I had passed by here to just get some last minute late night Chinese take out. The place was empty and we were the only ones who at the time had made an order. That order took ages to be completed. In addition to that we had only ordered sweet & sour pork with white rice (the smaller portion) along with another dish. Not only was the portion the smallest portion I had ever seen, but it was terrible. I have never had sweet & sour pork so deprived of any flavor and taste. The amount of rice we had could barely stuff a rat. I don’t even remember what the other dish was.
It’s sad that they couldn’t even have made the food at least taste slightly better than usual considering there were no other customers there.
Definitely not the spot for Chinese take out even though there’s really nothing around the area to begin with. Unless you’re desperate and starving, look elsewhere.

It used to be a much better place (5 years ago that is and would give 4 stars). This has to be the most inconsistent take out/​restaurant and the portion of the food gets smaller. Unfortunately there’s not a single descent chinese place in Ossining, Tarrytown, and Croton. If I get hungry I would only order a large dumpling soup (2x more dumplings than any other places and singapore noodles).

This place started out great, then its become sometimes great and sometimes not so great. I can’t figure out the rhyme or reason either. I ordered a few weeks ago and it was phenomenal like the China Star I always remember. I ordered yesterday and my egg drop soup was a bit off and the chicken and broccoli had more broccoli than chicken. I wish they were consistent.

I am not sure if the other phone number listed works, but I called 914−762−8818 last night and placed a dinner order from China Star.
We ordered sesame chicken, two large wonton soups, boneless spare ribs, and beef lomein
