Subway

As a native New Yorker I never understand people who go to Dominos or Papa John’s for pizza or Subway for sandwiches when there are great NY pizza places and great delis for sandwiches. However, I used to go to a Subway when I lived outside NY and it was okay. The bread is not NY deli bread, but you couldn’t find that anywhere else anyway. Since coming back to NY I never eat there. But one day a friend called from Subway and said she was there, hadn’t eaten lunch and did I want something. She’s not from NY so I guess she eats there in her hometown. I had never been to the one in Ossining even though I’ve lived in this area for years. So I ordered a tuna sandwich figuring they couldn’t screw that up. My friend arrived 10 minutes later.
Her sandwich had wilted lettuce and soggy tomatoes and she said, «I eat Subway all the time, I’ve never seen this.» My bread was rock hard as was hers. She also said the clerk was very rude. We each took 2 bites and were done and ordered from a private pizza place (not a chain!)
