Just writing an update to my previous review: I finally got to try the chili by itself. I said it wasn’t spicy nor sweet. it’s definitely on the sweeter side, having tried it by itself, but when combined with other stuff like mustard it balances out. One of the first times I went here they forgot the fried onions on my cheeseburgers. I find it funny that another time I went the girl behind the counter got yelled at, right in front of me by the chef, because she called out my order but didn’t say I wanted fried onions on my cheeseburgers. It’s almost a year or so later and she still doesn’t call out fried onions.

I stop here once a year because I work in this area every December. This is my third time. Their chilli cheese dog is delicious and the prices are super cheap. The staff is very friendly and it feels very homey in there. Will def return.

I stopped in the other day to get a quick dog to go and the woman behind the counter was on the phone and ignored my order when it was sitting in the window for pick-up. She then told me she was sorry but was talking to a vendor so I decided that she did not need customers so I left. Poor customer service.

Great deep fried chili cheese dog — all the way! Same for a delicious cheeseburger. GREAT fries, hot, crispy and salted nicely. Staff sweet and helpful. Fast service, reasonable prices, actually cheap. All in all exactly what I was looking for.

I really WANTED to like this place because it’s close by, the prices are reasonable — AND because other reviewers from northern NJ mentioned it reminded them of the famous chili dog places up there that I miss since I’ve moved to Central NJ. Unfortunately the reviewers who mentioned that the fries are overcooked are correct. My boyfriend’s fries and mine came out overdone and dried out. It’s a shame because when you consider other reviewers have voiced the same complaint consistently, this is obviously how whoever is in the kitchen is told to prepare the fries. In my opinion, the Stewart’s in Howell(Route 9) is the closest to the northern NJ type of chili dog.(Note: Not all Stewart’s have the same quality as they are independently owned/operated)

Very good food and great prices! I even saw today they are doing buy one get one burgers and dogs from 5pm-9pm so it’s an even better deal then usual. Hot dogs, burgers, fries! All yummy!!!

The owner says inappropriate things to minor female workers. In front of customers he told the girls he was going to improve business by having them in a mud pit. This is NOT freedom of speech. That is harassment. How would he like it if someone stated that to his daughter or any other minor female family member. If he would speak to these girls like this in front of customers… I am concerned what he does to those girls when no one can see. Is he mistreating them in any physical way. He is definitely mistreating them verbally. I would never let my daughter work there and I would not support his business. I will never walk into that establishment.

This is a nice little place. Dogs were delish. Natural cut fries in peanut oil were good. The staff is very nice and pleasant. A nice Jersey place. Good American food joint, very clean, neighborhood place. GREAT prices!

Stopped in for a couple of chili dogs, I’ll definitely be going back! The place was very clean and nicely decorated, the owner and staff were very friendly. I lived in Clifton briefly years ago and used to go to Rutt’s Hut and Hot Grille, what I had today at Lindy’s was reminiscent of what I had years ago up north Jersey. Hotdog wasn’t deep fried and it still had a nice snap to it. They do offer to deep fry it much like the Ripper I used to eat at Rutt’s Hut, but I’m no longer 17 and can’t handle a deep fried hotdog like I once was able to! Overall a really nice place, I’ll be trying a burger on my next visit.

Lindy’s is exactly what I’m looking for when I want a good old-fashioned North Jersey styled hot dog or burger. No, it’s not gourmet. The dogs don’t come on homemade buns, they’re not hand crafted by Hanz the sausage maker from Bavaria, and burgers aren’t grilled by a Michelin rated snooty chef. It’s Thumann’s hot dogs and burgers done in the tried-and-true fashion, and I couldn’t be happier. The real stars of this place are twofold: the chili dogs(with or without cheese), and the burgers. The dogs are pretty tasty in their own right — and if I’m not mistaken they can actually deep-fry them to give the skin a fantastic crunch while keeping the center soft and juicy. Add on their homemade chili with some mustard, onions, and cheese, and you’ve got one hell of a chili dog. A previous Unilocaler was spot-on when they said the burgers are reminiscent of White Manna /White Rose — juicy and soft with some great onion flavor, similar to a steam cheeseburger if you’ve ever been to Connecticut. Even the fries were pretty good here, obviously homemade and of the«boardwalk» style, skin on. Bonus points for malt vinegar on the tables. I saved the best for last — price. The food here is downright reasonable, and aside from maybe 1 – 2 items, the entire menu is under $ 5. Chili dogs with cheese are $ 2.80, burgers are under $ 3, and that includes doubles. If you want my advice — forget Windmill and their crazy prices, Lindy’s is oh so much better. I’ll be back again and again, I’m sure. Hell, I’ve only just discovered the place a week or so ago, and I’ve already been back ~3 times.

went here today, good dogs, deep fried, just fit the bun, burgers are $ 1.45, about McDonald’s size, fresh cut fries… for those who long for a «Texas Wiener» or chili dog from the old days in North Jersey, try this place…

Long wait for expensive, bad food. First time here and place only had 3 customers. Waited 10 minutes for 2 plain hot dogs and an order of fries($ 7.50). Hot dogs were terrible, very low quality. Fries were undercooked and over– salted. Next time I want a hot dog, I’ll go to Frank’s truck up the road.

A few of us ordered lunch today from Lindy’s. I was hoping it would be good as we could use a good hot dog place around for lunch. We ordered Italian hot dogs and they were not good at all. Real Italian hot dogs are served on half of a round pizza bread to old everything in. These were on soft sub rolls. The hot dog quality wasn’t good and they could have been cooked more. The peppers and onions seemed like the frozen ones and were also not cooked enough. There were very few potatoes. The bread got so soggy that the sandwich was impossible to hold and eat. We also ordered cheese fries and while the orders were huge, they were just lacking something. I know they haven’t been in business long, but it will be short lived if they don’t get their act together. Prices were very reasonable, but if the food isn’t good, it doesn’t matter.

Really friendly staff and environment! Prices are amazing and so is the food, «Windmill» quality hot dog and the fries were really great. Can’t wait to return and try some more items, definitely will be returning soon! Brick needs a place like this.

Well, when they don’t overcook the fries, they’re good. Went in with my husband to try it out. He ordered a sausage and fries. Being told the fries are small portions, I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich and cheese fries. Portions are huge; fries are to be shared. His were wildly overcooked; mine were good. Both of us had soggy buns. His to the point of inedible. Mine lacked flavor. Boiled chicken on a bun with a side of BBQ sauce. No seasonings… bland. Staff was friendly and prices are cheap, but it’s the food is terrible.
