If you are visiting NJ and must have a hot dog then this is the place. Not fancy but good and make sure to have a nice drink to top it off.

Place is quiet, clean, and if you love Windmill food they’ve got it down to a science. Haha. Amazing cheese fries!

The burger I ordered was very dry. I liked the french fries but they were a little overcooked too. The place was quiet when we went there yesterday. The guys are fast to serve you and friendly. I have eaten here several times and it’s ok. I like the fixings bar. Help yourself to fixings. I will go back but will tell them not to overcook the burger next time.

I’d give it Zero stars if i could just because of the Poor, Poor Customer Service… I’ve been going to the Windmills in Long branch forever… even went to the Franchises in Westfield and Edison… went to this Brick location Fri night… dinnertime and the place was dead… sat near the television… place stunk from bathrooms… asked worker to put sound on TV… he did… no problem… had a big Ed with coupon(what, am i stupid to pay their jacked up retail prices?)…roll was stale… had business in Brick today… i was very near that same Windmil at about 2 PMl… i had another Big Ed coupon… this time the worker was young gal with braces(she should be fired)…i ordered and asked her to put sound on tv… after all, guy did it on friday night, right… she didn’t do it… asked her a few minutes later… she had another worker do it but very, very soft sound from tv… Giants game was on, duh… you’d think they’d want to bring in customers… isn’t that what the TV is for? i asked her to make it louder… she said the mgr has a rule, no sound and he might come in any minute… this is obviously a franchise… i was told the previous owner lost his house in Sandy(sorry) so he couldn’t put money into this store… new owner needs to get on the ball… he should fire the woman with the braces on her teeth… also, the other 2 workers were playing with their Smartphones when i came in… i would have fired all 3… if the mgr is afraid to fire them, I’ll come in and fire them for them… biggest mistake this young gal made was not telling me about the rule when i first asked… i would have respected that decision… i also would not have ordered or eaten there and gone somewhere else to watch the game… we all can eat anywhere… why should we eat at Windmill in brick… answer? we shouldn’t! I’ve lived in town for nearly my entire life and this is my first visit to Windmill. I knew it was«some old hotdog place,» but not much more. We got a coupon in the ValPak for bogo so we decided to go. Quiet & friendly atmosphere. Quick service. Hot dogs were hot, fresh, and crispy. Tons of condiments for your personal taste. We got chili on the side and it was kind of terrible. The cheese sauce was your average yellow goop, good with ketchup on the yummy crinkle cut fries. It’s nice for a change, but it really is just an old hotdog place. I was hoping for corn dogs but they aren’t on the menu :(

The Windmill is a Jersey Shore classic. The hotdogs are good but the cheese fries are the reason I give it 4 stars. They are the best cheese fries I have ever had and I have had cheese fries at a lot of places. There might be better somewhere but I’m yet to find it. The downside is it’s expensive for what it is. It’s like boardwalk prices and you don’t get the boardwalk view. But I will keep going back every once in a while.

Okay, I’ve been living in NJ for almost my entire life now, with 10+ of those years at the shore. Many a childhood birthday parties were spent at the Windmill on Route 9, gorging myself on hot dogs and playing video games. Fast forward to the present, and I’m no longer a kid — sadly, I need to pay my own way for things. This is where my childhood fascination with Windmill ended. I went here with a friend a while back, eager to rediscover the joys of hot dogs from my childhood. Taking one look at the menu, I was a little shocked to see the prices. ~$ 4.40+ for a hot dog? Okay, whatever — they’re supposed to be huge, right? Well, I suppose everything looks bigger when you’re a kid, because while the hot dog was pretty large, it wasn’t exactly something I’d spend over $ 4 on(for one dog). About as big as a footlong dog, and griddle-fried. Toppings were pretty standard. Sure, there’s a topping bar, and the hot dogs ARE decent(obviously all-beef with a good ‘skin’ on it) — but that’s just it. I know I’m going to catch flak for this review, and hey — maybe I’m missing something that everybody else«gets» about this place, but to me these are fairly standard griddle dogs. Maybe I’m spoiled by places like Destination Dogs up in New Brunswick, or Max’s in Long Branch, I don’t know — but I’d rather drive the 30 – 60 minutes to those places than the ~5 minutes here, which speaks for itself. For the same price(~$ 4.50 for standard beef) at Destination Dogs, I get something that’s a damn near work of art, a homemade dog with a little gourmet flair to it, on a homemade bun. Here, I get an industrial dog on an industrial bun with DIY toppings — for the same price. It’s no wonder this place is usually empty. I’m sure some folks love it — hey, it IS a «Shore Staple» — but if you ask me, it’s one that I’m willing to let go. At $ 2 — 2.50 a dog, this would be a 3-star joint, but the expensive prices coupled with the fairly standard dogs makes this a place I just drive past.

After living in New Jersey for about 10 years, I decided it was time I had a Windmill hot dog. Anyone who thinks Windmill hot dogs the best, or even merely good, needs to go buy some Boars Head or Hebrew National. I have had better hot dogs out of the back of a van. When they closed a while back, I thought there was finally some sense in the world. Then they re-opened. So apparently in the court of popular opinion, I’m wrong. That’s fine. More Hebrew Nationals for me, then.

It’s dirty, always empty, and the large hot dog literally has NO flavor. The toppings table is a disgusting mess and probably a major petri dish. The $ 1.50 hot dog at Costco’s food court is much tastier and much cheaper(comes with a soda for that price!).

You’re sure in for a treat at Windmill! It’s an iconic restaurant for New Jerseyians. One of the best hot dogs you’ll ever have! Don’t know what else to say so I’ll repeat myself again: one of the best hot dogs you’ll ever have!

This is a GOOD Windmill — is the floor a little gnarly? Yeah… but it’s freaking Windmill. They have a big self service bar where you can get your accouterments for your hot dog, which is awesome for people like my husband. Also, the dippy horseradish that comes with the fried mushrooms? In a little fridge, so if you want two, grab two. Tasty tasty tasty.

Expensive food that frankly does not taste that great. Really there is not much more to say. I went and got a hot dog, cheese fries and a soda and it was over $ 10. That is simply outrageous. $ 3.99 for a hot dog is simply too much. The dog was a little larger than average but it was not that large and was not terrible but was hardly a notable hot dog. At $ 1.50-$ 2 it would have been a decent dog but $ 4 is silly.. The fries tasted like frozen fries you buy at the super market with bad cheese whiz on top. The one positive I can say is that they had a lot of condiments for the dogs. The Windmill claims to be «gourmet fast food.» I assume they do this in order to justify the extreme price tag because there is nothing gourmet about this place. If you want to try«gourmet fast food» get a Five Guys hot dog. Just as over prices and far better.
