I happened to be in Fairfield for a day trip, and my friend and I were craving pizza and beer. We stumbled upon this gem, and we were not disappointed. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was incredibly friendly and knowledgable of the beers. They had an okay selection, nothing terribly impressive if you’re a connoisseur, but enough to quench our thirst. For food, we split a delicious buffalo chicken pizza. The slices are huge, the flavor is incredible, and the crust is nice and light. The prices are a little steep. After tip we paid $ 55 for a pizza and 3 beers, but it certainly satisfied our taste buds.

This review is from service at the bar on a Saturday around 7pm. The bar area was busy but the spacing around the bar made it feel very comfortable. The service was outstanding. From the greeter to the bartenders I was extremely impressed with how attentive and friendly everyone was. Food: We order pizza because it seems like what the sample item that should be tried. 2 small pizzas were order. Pizza 1– Curry Chicken: probably one of the most amazing flavor combinations that I have had in awhile. Pizza 2 — Jalapeño polenta: another great pizza and flavor but it just didn’t hold up to the flavors in pizza #1. Drinks: We order beers and I wish they would explain the selection to things that aren’t so IPA focused. Not everyone likes IPAs and most bar seems to not give other options — wheats, sours, ambers. Overall — Great service, great food — I will definitely come back

Still trying to find the best pizza in Fairfield county so ordered the regular cheese. Pie was loaded with parmesan and it tasted like cheap quality parm. Sauce was average and crust lacked flavor. And so the search continues.

THEBEST Gluten Free Pizza — EVErrrrrr. Listen I have eaten my way through all of New England trying to find a place that knows how to make a good gluten free pizza and I FINALLY found it! Forget Colony Grill(terrible), Planet Pizza, or any other place pizzeria in Connecticut. Bottom line, they just don’t know how to cook the dough correctly. But Fire Engine has mastered it!!! You will NOT be disappointed!

This place defies expectations. An unpretentious and friendly restaurant, it also has a great bar where dining is welcomed(place mats and wine glasses await at each seat), comfortable for solo diners and families alike. While known for their outstanding pizza, the real surprise is in the rest of the menu. Excellent entrees have an Italian influence but are inventive and well prepared. The pork chop with bean and broccoli rabe is one of the best dishes around and at a mind boggling price. Even though«pizza» is part of its name, it is much more… the true definition of a neighborhood gem.

Don’t bother, unless you’re a friend of the employees. They will pretend you’re not there, and then you will leave angry. I know, I just did. In mid-order, the bartender turned around and walked away without a word and went to finish a chat with friends, and never came back. Sunday 2⁄14 at 2pm.

Delicious for Sunday brunch! Here with a friend who had the banana French toast and I had a small pizza! Portions are great and drinks are great. There is a variety of Sunday funday drinks that you mix and change!

Let me say first, I LOVEFIREENGINEPIZZA… when they get my order right… which is NEVER. We always get 2 pizzas when we go, and one is always wrong. Sometimes both are. And this is not cheap pizza. 2 small cost me $ 35. Like I said, this pizza is DELICIOUS, which is why I keep coming back. But whether I order over the phone, or dine in, ATLEAST my past 5 visits I have been given something other than what I ordered. Get it together Fire Engine. I’m not ready to break up with you!

Forget about Colony pizza, unless you like sauce and cheese spread and melted on cardboard. F.E.P.C. Has the best pizza in town, and probably the best staff as well. It’s a must.

Will never win any awards for being the greatest *value* in pizza or drinks, but holy cow this place is open late and *always* hits the spot! Bonafide, crispy-chewy thin crust NY-style pizza. Perfect pie, everytime. I eat here every time I’m visiting my friends who live across the street. Great distribution of toppings, and always a few interesting beer keg offerings. You can’t go wrong with a Fire Engine pizza. Even the gluten-free pizza is decent.

no need to go all the way to New Haven anymore! We tried the pizzas — I even ate the crust. Beef tip app was amazing too, perfectly cooked and marinated. I guess they take reservations, when I called she made it seem like they wouldn’t have a table when I got there if we were more than 2 people, but there were plenty of tables when I got there. Other than that, the staff was friendly and attentive, this will surely be our go to place for pizza.

Can’t say enough about these pies! I suggest going with friends and ordering them all to try. Make sure to get the buffalo chicken, chicken picatta and don’t miss the Sunday sauce. Great variety of draft beers.

Couldn’t have picked a better business lunch spot. Great food, friendly/attentive staff and plenty of space. Had some work to do in between meetings and they were very accommodating to let me wrap up work and not enter in my order until I was done. Pepperjack chicken sandwich was not overcooked with plenty of flavor and serving size! Will definitely come back here again.

Firehouse is truly one of those places where the whole is so much greater than the sum of its individual parts. It is THE place to go in the area for a relaxed pizza, a drink, and fun times. The pizza is one of the best in Fairfield county, period. The standard red sauce and cheese pizzas is outstanding, thin crust but not too thin, it has some substance and chew to it. The speciality pizzas though really set it apart. The jalapeño polenta pizza sounds insane, but is one of the most delicious things I have ever had. It’s truly a genius combination. Plus they serve pizza until the bar closes, so that’s an awesome perk when you need something late night. The bar has the best atmosphere for a chill night. Definitely«bar like» but not rowdy, comfortable but not sloppy, nice clientele where everyone feels comfortable. Good for a casual date, friends, or bringing family from out of town. Good on tap selection and specialtydrinks. Love the staff too. Friendly, welcoming, attentive. You guys rock. I shouldn’t recommend this place because then it will be harder to get a seat at the bar when I’m there at least weekly. Oh well!

I’ve been living in Black Rock now for about 2& ½ years. My friends all live 20+ mins away, and when we do get together it’s usually in our hometown Milford. They finally were coming here to see a show at Acoustic last night, so I was excited to show off my town! My boyfriend and I had explained that pizza is usually sold by the slice through the pizza truck, and my friends would be able to eat during/after the show. When we discovered the truck wasn’t running last night(no big deal) we decided to grab some pizzas at Fire Engine. It was obvious that our server didn’t feel comfortable serving us for some reason, and she seemed especially focused on one of my friends. We are all around 25 and were behaving in a completely normal, respectable manner. It was very strange and she was obviously staring and talking to her manager about my friend. I totally understand if someone is drunk and you don’t feel comfortable serving them, but this situation was something out of the twilight zone. Finally when the owner came out, he checked all of our IDs again and basically said he had the right to refuse us service. Come on. As an owner, look around and realize that we are all calm and of legal age and there is no reason to treat us that way just because your server was paranoid for some reason. I’m disappointed that you wouldn’t recognize that your employee was wrong here, not the customer. Also we were trying to get 3 pizzas, and only two people were drinking beer. It was just about midnight, too. It’s not like it was 2am and we were ordering pitchers of bud light. Overall, I was embarrassed that I had bragged about this place to my friends and had taken them there to be judged. As someone who is currently buying their home here in Black Rock, it really just makes me sad that I can no longer look at this place the same.

I’ll get straight to the point– Pizza, service, & atmosphere: 5 stars Parking & portion size: eh The pizza was awesome. A unique crunch to the crust. And, to my relief, that crunch does not translate to «burnt.» The bottom was perfectly golden. The cheese to crust ratio is 50 – 50 with a touch of sauce. And the pizza is topped with extra parmesan cheese before it is baked, making the cheesiness really pop… how many times will I use the word cheese? ;) The place is really fun inside with great music playing. I loved everything about it– definitely a cool place to relax, have some drinks, and catch up with friends. Negatives: because I’m not from Bridgeport, I could not find their«private lot» & street parking ranges from only 15 – 60 mins depending on where you park. We ended up finding a side road in front of some houses but we didn’t like that we had to do this. But hey, that’s just me– nothing to do with the restaurant very much. Also, the pizza is rather small for the price. The large is only 8 slices. Granted they are large slices, but thin. So it’s basically a regular slice rolled out. My fiancé & I finished a large rather quickly(which never happens!) But it was a lesson in portion control for sure… smaller pizza the less you eat I suppose. Overall, the taste & atmosphere outweigh the small negatives. Definitely give it a try!

The boss buys us lunch on Friday’s every once in a while and Fire Engine Pizza was picked. I had never had it before(not a big pizza person) but decided to give it a shot. We ordered the Loaded Mashed Potato Pizza, Mackenzie Rose Pizza and a small Fresh Mozz Margherita Pizza. I had a slice of the Loaded Mash and Mackenzie each and LOVED the Mackenzie! I love balsamic vinaigrette to begin with so it was meant for me. The Loaded Mash on the other had wasn’t my favorite. It’s good but it’s more on the heavy side, which I try to avoid. Overall, everyone in the office loved it, will definitely be ordering again! Went on the website and saw that they have bottomless mimosas for brunch, definitely want to check that out!

Came here with a group for dinner. The service was very good. I highly recommend the mashed potato or Sunday dinner pizza. The atmosphere is very inviting, and they set themselves apart with the firehouse theme. It has the great beer selection of Colony, but offers way more food options, which are equally, if not more delicious. Good place to grab a couple late drinks and a pizza for fourth meal too.

Been here twice now. First time was just picking up normal straight pizza. Take out. Quick and very good. Second time I came for Sunday brunch. Bottomless mimosa’s were excellent. I also had their Mackenzie Rose specialty pizza. It was superb. What more could I ask for.
