This is an eclectic family run downtown café; with interesting art work. The food is simple, healthy and good, at a fair price. I’ve seen concepts like this scale locally with great success. Such a lovely lunch spot! Everything is always fresh and the staff goes the extra mile every time(latest example: chopping up some extra fresh fruit for a pregnant lady who was craving it). If you’re in the area, stop in!

Paninis are made fresh and always delicious. I order at least once a week at work and it is always the highlight of my week. Great customer service and friendly staff. I highly recommend! My favorite is «The Lucky».

WARNING: if you are going to eat here beware! there has been many occasions where people have had hair in their food! and FYI I went there on 3÷30÷2016 for some sushi and small soup. while waiting in line I noticed their baked goods and the natas they had was growing mold on them. I swear on anything. just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things, I asked my friend to look and she was shocked. So I kindly waited until no one was in line and let the lady(who I think is an owner or something) know that there is mold there. I was being very genuine about it. like more concerned. and in front of my face and with a defensive attitude she says«no there isn’t those are fresh» I replied no there is green mold on it and I turned the display around to her and she was still in DENIAL! Like come on? im still buying my food here and also told her you cant serve that to your customers and she still was in denial. I couldn’t believe it. So I still sat down and observed or even dissected my food(sushi wasn’t even good) and watched to see if she would take it down ANDSHEDIDNT. so if you still want to eat here then go ahead just be careful!!!

Really cute place. Food is good just a little upset that they didn’t have real bacon when I went. Like slab bacon. They had the kind of bacon that probably comes cooked already which is not what you expect from a cute little place like this. Their French toast was great and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this place

Found this place on Unilocal, and the outside looked inviting. Had to park a few blocks away. Definitely a fan of this artisan style market for lunch. There was a sushi chef which was a surprise, but I wasn’t in the mood! The girl taking my order was SO sweet and nice. I got a delicious panini, 1B, it was awesome. Also, the prices were affordable, not too bad. I will definitely go back.

They opened a second location this past June of 2015. The new restaurant marks the second downtown location for Fernandes who is also the owner of Funchal Café located at 881 Lafayette Boulevard. The new location offers sandwiches, salads, wraps, Paninis and sushi. The food here is always great and I enjoyed the new locations atmosphere. The wait for the food was a tad longer as the cashier was taking the food orders and only one person making sandwiches. Maybe two people making sandwiches, and the cashiers just checking people out would help speed the lunch rush up a bit more. Other than that stop here and try their delicious food.

Excellent deli. I love it when a deli lets you get your food, eat and then pay. Food was great and the highlight was the strawberry lemonade and the Arnold Palmer iced tea, both made fresh.

I went to Funchal on the Green for lunch and ordered a panini. It was gross. Nothing about it wowed me or made me want to come back for more. It came with a spoonful of macaroni salad as a side. It was possibly one of most bland things I’ve ever eaten in my life. It had absolutely no flavor and even less salt. My friend had a sandwich that he also thought was mediocre at best. I believe it was called the Manhattan. The café looks very cute from the inside with lots of light but the FOOD? Never again. It seems like a lot of the professionals in the area come to the café which is great, but I don’t understand why because the food is trash. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because the cashier was very sweet and the Snapple I had was great. It was Mango Madness.

Food is good and so is the macaroni salad. Prices are fair. Staff on the other hand can have an attitude and can make you feel really uncomfortable. When they have too many people there for lunch they get extremely overwhelmed and start arguing with each other. Food is good staff on the other hand not so much.

Awesome atmosphere and great customer service. The restaurant is a mix between a café and deli feel. It’s spot that id bring a coworker or my husband if I wanted to enjoy a nice cozy lunch. The portobello & pesto panini was really good. I look forward to going back to try their wraps and other panini’s.

Really cool sandwich shop, very surprising given the run down area. The guy working the counter was super friendly and helpful. The variety of sandwiches looked delicious. The egg and cheese wrap was amazing. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the area.

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This little deli is in the heart of «downtown» Bridgeport. It has a wonderful assortment of sandwiches to choose from both hot and cold. You cant go wrong with the Roast Beef and it did not disappoint. the sandwich had a large pile of roast beef. Add the Horseradish mayo and you are in for a good time! Highly recommend the place if you find yourself in Bridgeport.

Makin the trek from Martha’s Vineyard to NJ and found this great spot. Easy parking behind, nice interior with a good breeze out the window while I sat on the«trunk» bench seats with the beautiful pillows lining the wall Got smoked salmon wrap and my wife got the Caprese panini w a side of fruit. Both were really tasty. Mine had an impressive supply of salmon in it. Staff was great too. Check out the oven in the men’s bathroom. Just hope you don’t have to take a seat in there. :)
