Great place to relax, drink and eat; we ate at the bar and it was great. Pleasant wait staff. The Classic Paella Valenciana was excellent, cooked perfectly and with everything you would expect; it’s for 2 people and we had leftovers; it’s definitely a comfort food. For Tapas — Crostinas de Filete was good; the Croquetas de Bacalao was okay(too mushy inside). We’ll be back.

Fantastic food(paella you can’t get it anywhere as good as this) Chef Danielle salad a classic. I could go on and on. Don’t forget new location as of 10⁄15 Fairfield CT in the Brick walk.

Went here last night for dinner for a friends birthday. I know it was a Tuesday and we didn’t get there until 9 but there was no one around who seemed to work there! When we finally sat down, we put in a bottle of wine. Their wine list is huge and has almost everything you could want! We decided to split tapas between the four of us and ordered 7 all together. It was the perfect amount of food. We got the calamari a la plancha which was so tasty. The squid was grilled to perfection. We also got mussels which was also very satisfying, the carpaccio which could have been cut thinner but still we enjoyed, the crab cakes which were nothing to brag about, dry bay scallop risotto which was a little too creamy for me, the empanadas which were AMAZING and fried perfectly, and the Spanish sausage which looked like a regular hot dog to me. I would say the sausage was my least favorite. At the end we also got three deserts. A chocolate tart which was a little dry, tiramisu which was my favorite and the tres leches which was my friends favorite. In the end the food overall was tasty and the bill was not too bad. All of that and another glass of wine and a expresso for $ 155. I highly suggest going.

Came to this spot for lunch with a couple of co-workers. My only complaint was that service was a slow but other than the food here is top-notch. My coworkers and I decided to split 4 small entrees among the 3 of us. We got the goat cheese, shrimp noodles, empanadas, and crab cakes. They were all excellent. I definitely plan on coming back for lunch or for dinner

Found a piece of hair in my grilled octopus casserole :(. Maybe I was paranoid which was why I didn’t enjoy this dish much. The skirt steak was also just ok.

Really excellent. Casual place with terrific tapas. Love the ceviche. Paella good as well. Super friendly place. Fish is fresh. Haven’t tried the pizza cause everything else is so good. Believe the reviews.

Was here twice in the past and food was good. I don’t know what happened this time around. Ordered two«pies»(really pizza) and it was very salty, both crust and toppings. Also got a salad and the dressing was very acidic. Got 2 other items on the menu and I paid $ 60+. I only liked one thing on my order. So disappointed. I don’t think I’m ever coming back.

Tried this place out for dinner. Ordered 3 tapas. Ceviche(a special), risotto and Spanish tortilla. The ceviche was shrimp and undercooked scallops in whats supposed to be a lime dressing goodness but it was heavy on the vinegar side and just onions with the seafood. I’ve been to Peru/Ecuador which in my opinion are the masters of ceviche but this came nowhere near any Latin ceviche I’ve ever had. Less than mediocre. The risotto was great. Very flavorful. The Spanish tortilla??? Nothing special. Bland flavors. And the cost of all of this? $ 50 bucks. Def too expensive for what you are getting. The portions were decent sized and the atmosphere of the place is pretty nice and the service was good too. But at the end of the day it mostly about the taste and quality of the food. My friend also ordered 3 tapas and liked only 1. First impressions are everything… and this place is too expensive to give it another shot… a second impression. Cant say I would go back.

Great food and drink. The goat cheese appetizer is amazing. The only problem we had was that the manager called the gift certificate we had a coupon and refused to honor the free beverage promotion for checking in on Unilocal.Just the principal of it.

We just had another great meal here tonight. We started with the Croquetas de bacalau and the crostini de filete– both out of this world! I had the pizza with salmon and arugula and my husband had the tortellini with duck confit– excellent flavors! Our dessert was the Crème Brûlée– a must if you have dessert here. The service was slow, but it is Valentine’s Day and it gave us a chance to talk and be together. I love it here and am always happy when we come to taberna.

Went here for a nice treat dinner with my husband and unfortunately we were disappointed with the food. We got the goat cheese and fried calamari for appetizers. The goat cheese app was AMAZING but everything else was average at best. The fried calamari was nothing special, fairly rubbery and did not come out piping hot so it wasn’t crispy either. The mustard sauce that came on the side was quite tasty though, I even dipped my fork in it at the end just to taste the sauce again. For our entrees I got the lasagna and my husband got one of the specials, some kind of fish. The lasagna had eggplant layered in it which was very tough and really took away from the dish. I tried to eat it and ended up fishing the eggplant out and putting it to the side. The dish was also not at all hot and a few bites were actually cold. The noodles were nice and the sauce had a good flavor, it was just not very good overall when put together with the tough eggplant and the fact that it wasn’t warm. It also was supposed to be Bolognese sauce but it tasted like a marinara. I could barely tell there was any meat in it. My husband’s fish was also sub par. He loves fish and was just slowly picking at it even though he told me he was«sooo hungry» so I could tell something was wrong. I tasted it and it was very bland. Other than a lot of salt it didn’t have much flavor. And as an added bonus it was VERY expensive, $ 30 for the fish entrée! I’m not sure if I would go here again… there are so many good reviews and the goat cheese app was so good that I’m wondering if it was just an off night or maybe it’s better to order tapas rather than entrees? Can’t figure out why this place is so highly recommended.

I have been here a couple times and the food is delicious and perfectly seasoned. The service is very good. I loved everything I tried. They have an extensive wine list too. This is a unique place. Check it out!

We were meeting up with inlaws who were in Connecticut for Christmas — and we were relieved to find a place open on Christmas. But — even more so than relieved, after having dined here at Taberna — we feel honored to have stumbled upon this little gem. We ordered QUITE a bit of food: Calamari Frito, Mussels, Goat cheese with tomato, Ricotta Gnoochi, Taberna cheese pie, Crostinis de filete, Tortilla Espanola, Croquetas de Bacalao — among other dishes. This post would be far too long if I listed them all — and reviewed each one. The wine list is extensive. And, the homemade sangria — made while you wait was stunningly bright and not to sweet. Perfect! The goat cheese tapas was perfect! I don’t indulge often as I find most places don’t serve a great goat cheese — but this was mild, creamy and just beautiful with the tomato. The Croquetas de Bacalao? YOUMUSTORDERTHIS! The fish appeared to be fresh and the croquettes literally melt on your tongue like ice cream! It was amazing. I could go on and on — but honestly there wasn’t an item we didn’t rave about. For desert we shared lemon merinque pie and chocolate torte — both very tasty however they just didn’t shine like the meal did. The ambiance at Taberna is clean, bright and spacious. The service was simply outstanding — from the barkeep, to the hostess to the waitstaff. This restaurant experience definitely exceeded my expectations. Do yourself a favor and take a ride to Taberna, you will be glad you did.

Made a last minute reservation for 6. Seated promptly and had a wonderful meal with my children and their spouses. All food was freshly prepared and delicious. Wine was fairly priced. Service was excellent. If you like cozy family dining with a quasi romantic setting this place is it! We dine at fine restaurants frequently in Southport and Westport and I would rate this cozy spot among them at reasonable price.

We were in Bridgeport to see music at the Klein Auditorium so researched dinner options. Didn’t have high expectations because not familiar with Bridgeport restaurant scene. We were pleasantly surprised! This little neighborhood gem has fantastic food and warm and friendly service. The menu is quite extensive and we had a number of different tapas and small dishes and all were delicious, flavorful and fresh.

Weekends are best — ’cause we go during the week and I don’t want to have to wait for a table. We went to Taberna for the second time last evening and it was outstanding. Daniel does a fantastic job as maitre d’, waiter, and sommelier, the food is consistently outstanding and the wine list is pretty good as well. We went with friends and decided to have a number of the small plates. All of them were outstanding. On the previous visit, I also had the octopus and it was top rate. Plenty of room. plenty of parking and no rush. A great evening with friends.

Couldn’t decide where in the world to go tonight. We would have driven anywhere really. Taberna has been on the list to visit for awhile and the Unilocal offer of wine helped cinch the deal after doing a drive-by and seeing the quaint setting. Yes, I said quaint in Bridgeport. I doubt the two words have ever appeared before in the same sentence in the town’s salacious history. Owners — if your lights are only up for the Holidays, please consider keeping white lights outside all year. That way the place looks inviting and welcoming and«neighborhoody». Please… It was delicious! Not only is the wine selection interesting, extensive and not the usual offerings, but very very good. The tapas are wonderful and generously sized. High quality, unique fresh ingredients dance in your mouth. And, they have fresh warm rolls — heaven! Did not try any entrees this visit but they also offer pizza. We will definitely be back for more. It also appears as if there is al fresco dining — a lovely little patio awaits for the warmer days ahead.
