We needed to get a router for our house after moving and dropped in here about five minutes before close. I know, we’re jerks. But on the plus side, no one seemed to care in the store! We walked in, were greeted right away and directed to the router section. SO works in the phone/cable industry so we knew what we wanted and only took a minute to pick ours out. We checked out at the service desk, no wait which was nice, and were gone before close. Cashier at the service desk was very friendly and chatted with us while we cashed out rather than secretly judging us for sneaking in last minute.

I have never had a problem BUYING anything from best buy in Brighton, but having something«repaired» by geek quad is another story! I purchased a computer from them 3 years ago that the cable from the base to the screen was going bad. It was fine IF it was at a certain angle, but it if was moved it would freeze. My hubby is a computer wiz and ran every software check on it and was certain it was the cable that needed replacing. That he doesn’t do, so I took it to geek squad. The person who took it fired it up and it froze on him while moving the screen and wrote down what happened. Said it should be an easy fix since he SAW what was wrong. Two days later a «tech» calls me and says he has been working on it for HOURS and can’t find anything wrong and there was no notations on the paperwork. I said it’s ON the reciept! he says it’s a software problem and has to be wiped and sent out: $ 235! I said I will come in to back up my files and go there. The guy who brings out my computer fires it up and says it will be an ADDITIONAL $ 100 to back up my files but it has locked up when he moved the screen. I said I know, that’s why it’s here and apparently your«tech» didn’t even TURNITON! I said I am taking my computer home, now! BTW– My hubby was SO mad he fixed it himself. Ordered the $ 12 cable and put it in my laptop. Works like NEW again!

Greg L helped me and it was a pleasure working with him! I will for sure be coming back to this location. Don’t listen to the reviews about having to wait for help because clearly those folks have never worked retail and don’t ever expect to wait in a line.

Exasperating! I will no longer do business with this location nor Best Buy at all. The service is nearly nonexistent and has been that way for a couple of years. It is difficult to find someone on the floor to help, and then they pawned me off a couple of times today. The final salesman wasn’t much help, but did point me to a display. It felt like they were playing a game with the old folks today. I saw a couple others having similar experiences. I finally found an item that I wanted. The check-out was closed and was told by the front door bouncer that all transactions are being done at the service desk. I stood in line and noticed several guys in Best Buy shirts behind the counter. One after the other, a salesman asked each of the two men standing behind me to step up to the cash register! Really? In 2015? Chauvinism and discrimination at its finest. With this kind of treatment, this store won’t last. Naturally, I took my business(and money) elsewhere.

Lightning struck near our home causing nearly $ 20,000 in damage to major appliances and TV’s. I wanted to find a retailer to buy new replacements. Big box stores have crushed small boutique retailers so I chose Best Buy as they had everything I needed, so I thought. From the sale things went pretty well. Sales reps went out of their way to sell me stuff; however, once the sale went to delivery and installation all hell broke loose and the entire ordeal ended up awful, a totally negative opinion resulted. That’s the reason for 2-stars. New LG washer/dryer combo on pedestals arrived first. Had to wait a long time for delivery and now they finally arrived. Had to call installer back because they didn’t balance the washer correctly. He was very annoyed that we called, but he claimed he fixed it. It’s still unbalanced. Second item to arrive was a Bosch dishwasher. Three weeks we waited. Installer didn’t anchor the unit very well because right after he left the dishwasher moved freely side to side each time the door was opened or closed. Had to call back and he was also annoyed but finally used the right size screws. It seems to be holding. Third is our new Ultra HDLGTV. The Geek Squad was hired to install the entire system but it didn’t go well either and the TV looks awful sitting on a stand as opposed to a full motion mount that was recommended by one Geek consultant but the second Geek installer said it couldn’t be done. Not sure who’s right, all I know is that it doesn’t look good, actually it looks awful. The next item is an oven/range. Best Buy rep ordered the wrong unit and it wouldn’t fit. he actually tried to blame me but even the manager didn’t buy his crap. We waited three weeks for the oven to arrive. Now we had to wait another three weeks for a new one. We paid for the unit over a month ago including installation and haul away the old. The second oven finally arrived in a crate in our garage on Labor Day. As the delivery guy was leaving my wife asked, «what about the installation?» He said, if you want it installed, call Best Buy. I could not wait to show up at Best Buy. I was told, even though the order said delivery and installation and haul away the old, I didn’t pay for installation, so he claimed. What? Are you kidding? Even the manager couldn’t blow that one by me so he agreed to cover the installation and now I’m scheduled for nest week. I’m not looking forward to it because I am already anticipating more anger and disappointment. My Harmony remote control is now acting up. The Geek guy will need to make a third trip to reprogram it. By the way, when I mentioned to the sales rep that my washer is still jumping around, he had the gall to ask if I had it more than 30-days because if I didn’t buy their Protection Plan I was on my own. My head came off my shoulders and began flying around the room. If you want a good deal you can still go to Best Buy, but if it needs to be installed, install it yourself. Keep in mind, if you elect not to purchase their high cost Protection Plan you’ll be on your own very shortly and praying for the return of the small boutique retailer.

Purchased a cell phone(upgrade) for my mom at the Brighton Best Buy. Waited — as i’ve done in the past with my little pager on a day they seemed under staffed. My very bored sales person wasn’t interested in educating me on the use of a droid –I’ve only used iPhones and they hare different(I know it only cost $ 1, but I still need to know how to turn it on) It’s the 2nd time I’ve been in this area of Best Buy — should’ve learned my lesson, the service is slow, not helpful and when I asked about a case, he barely looked and told me to go to an AT&T store. Which I did– where the equally as busy but better organized AT& T Sales associated in Green Oak twp, found me a great case for $ 20, … Needless to say I won’t be buying phones at Best Buy in the future.

Slow service when you purchase online to go pickup. No one ever at the counter for online purchases. You have to go track someone down.

We went to buy a TV and didn’t end up buying from Best Buy. The selection seemed pretty standard. The staff was very attentive and nice but not very knowledgeable.

Prices on retail products that aren’t on sale are quite high. Geek Squad’s primary service is $ 299 if you have files you want to keep. I’m all for fixing a system and saving some money, but at $ 300 not including hardware, that is pretty hard to swallow. I actually don’t like the layout of the store, it is very overwhelming and not in the kid in a candy store way. Too many people asking me if they can help(over and over) or ignoring me. Instead of coming here, at least give a local place a shot.

Note that this 1 star review is based on my experience with the Geek Squad at this location a few years ago and still leaves me fuming! Summer of 2006 I brought back in my HP laptop to be serviced for the 3rd time in 13 months. Convinced I bought a lemon I was planning on yet another few weeks without the laptop while Best Buy &HP coordinated fixing the power pin to my motherboard. a few weeks go by and the lap top is done. I send a family member to pick it up as I’m fresh out of emergency surgery. I get home, laptop back and ready to fire it up and catch up… I turn on the laptop and, to my surprise, find my computer WIPEDCLEAN… all programs, documents, EVERYTHINGGONE! Furious, we try getting ahold of Best Buy. The Geek Squad manager of this location(where we brought it in) has no clue what’s going on and after looking into it a few minutes, tells me «oh well there was an irregularity with your hard drive so they replaced it.» Never was I contacted about such a thing and I certainly did not and would not have authorized this. Geek Squad blamed HP, HP says Best Buy authorized the repair. Geek Squad policy, as I was made aware is that any and all repairs must be ok’d by the customer before said work is done. all HP and Best Buy did was blame each other and the customer service rep at Best Buy did was give me attitude and essentially told me that it sucks but it’s not their problem. Said laptop died on me again 3 months later(4 instances within a year and a half). this putting their lemon policy into effect. I paid $ 1,000 for the lap top and they tried to force a $ 600 laptop on me… I was not playing that game and after an hour convinced me to give me full price for my laptop to which I purchase a Gateway and am typing this review on(4 years later). This experience will certainly make me think twice or three times about purchasing my next laptop from Best Buy. I can tell you, I certainly will never deal with the Geek Squad again!
