Brighton Resort

Best mountain experience I’ve ever had. Went to Brighton for the night snowboarding on a Saturday. Enjoyed a delicious Irish coffee at the A-​frame, slope side bar before! Mountain was ~70% boarders which was just what I was looking for!
Night skiing was 4 – 9, and very cold but for $ 40 it really can’t be beat to get quick, good runs in. I’d come back here any day or night!

Had a great time shredding the mountain with my son and his friend. They played so hard in the great snow we got to the café after they closed and the staff was so kind to serve us anyways. Brighton night skiing was a blast.

Take it from me, Brighton is probably THE BEST place to learn to snowboard!
Lessons during the month of January when purchased online are $ 45. This is seriously a steal! The fee includes a 2 hour lesson (based on your skill level), rental equipment, and a lift ticket for two of the basic lifts (Explorer and Majestic).
This was my second season snowboarding, and let’s just say last year after my first day, I went straight to Dicks to buy butt pads to soften the blow on what felt like a broken tailbone! Ouch. This year I purchased the class online, and we got up to the mountain around 10:00 am.
Side note: during snowy conditions, the canyon access road becomes very dangerous and only 4×4 vehicles or those with chains are allowed up to the summit. A nice way to avoid the hassle of driving is doing a park and ride! Located at the base of the canyon, the bus (UTA — Utah transit) picks you up and drops you off at either Solitude or Brighton. The cost is 4.50 each way per passenger.
Anyway, back to my bruised bottom. Classes are held at 10:15 and 1:15, and run for about two hours. This year I was a little hesitant to jump right into class after arriving and wanted to get my bearings before going off with the instructor. We snowboarded for about two hours then went up to the café for a quick bite before my class.
Needless to say this is the only place that serves food here, and the patrons coming off of the slopes are HUNGRY! The line is cafeteria style with choices like chili, fries, hot dogs, soup, and even salad. We opted for the cheese fries and a large Coke… set us back $ 15!!! Wth?! A large drink was $ 6! I give Brighton a four star because of their ridiculous food prices in the café.
After lunch I went to my class and met my instructor Matt. He was really nice and very patient. There were only two of us in the class, which made the lesson feel very individual. I recommend going on a weekday in January to take advantage of the great deal for class/​rental/​lift ticket and the empty slopes! We will definitely be back again, maybe next year I won’t need the butt pads!

I would consider Brighton to be best resort for your buck. Other resorts cost $ 110+ for a day pass while Brighton is only $ 75 ($ 67 for a reload on your pass). The mountain isn’t super packed. The snow is really nice in comparison to Sundance which isn’t as nice. They have lots of kickers park and tree runs.
I mostly come here on Wednesday nights for the arctic circle 2 for 1 which is $ 40 for 2. Amazing deal in my opinion. Hands down best night skiing in Utah. 2 teams running with a good selections of runs and park. If you are ever hungry, stop on over at Millys and get the chili cheese fries. They are a heart attack on a plate but oh so good.

Out of all three resorts I have visited (park city, solitude, and Brighton) I like this one the most. The resort isn’t that big, but one of the perks is that the ticket price isn’t that expensive. They have half day pass that start at $ 65 – 75 depending on the day you go. Their rentals are like $ 25 for half day.
Their slopes aren’t that difficult too. I am beginner snowboarder and I am able to do their blue trails. Plus everyone who ski and board there are pretty nice. If they see you struggling or having trouble they would ask if you need help. Other places they don’t really care… they’ll just zip pass you.
I would totally recommend this place especially if you are a beginner. I also heard that their classes are great too.

I may be biased as this is where I learned to snowboard many moons ago & where I have a season pass, but this is my second favorite resort in Utah!
Brighton resort is slightly better than some of the others for a few of the following reasons:
1. It gets dumped on. It gets some of the deepest snow compared to other resorts in the surrounding areas and this impacts my next reason.
2. It isn’t as crowded as other resorts meaning that massive snow levels make for better skiing, which is why you are here isn’t it?
3. The atmosphere here is NORMAL. It isn’t super yuppy, the prices for food/​beers (Molly Green’s is where it’s at) along with the lift tickets are still in the reasonable price range. However, it is a snowboarder induced resort but it isn’t that competitive vibe you feel elsewhere or jam packed all around you.
4. Terrain is decent covering lots of area without having to ride numerous lifts. Nothing gets under my skin more than sitting in a lift line and on the chair more than you ski.
5. They have nailed down the parking game without shuttling people around. Also, your season pass works as your bus ticket as well, so do the green thing my friends — PARKNRIDE.
Although, we will see the changes with resorts colliding into corporations which may impact this gem (as it did Solitude — & Brighton’s ticket prices) but let’s stay positive that it will be all for the good of the skiers.

Came here recently on a ski trip with a big group of friends and it was such a wonderful experience! Parking was a breeze, the lifts were high tech like most of the high end resorts, you just put the access card in your pocket and the lift entry automatically senses and let you through.
There was no lines on any of the lifts and that was on a Saturday. The trails are nicely groomed and well covered. Long and steep runs for all levels including us daredevils. There’s also great tree runs where the trees are perfectly spaced apart!
The highlight of our day has to be running into Santa who was skiing around and posing for photos with everyone. It was so much fun and he was wonderful to talk to.
The food on the mountain is your normal cafeteria food and of course over priced, really need to improve in this area. The chili totally came out of a plastic bag or a can and didn’t taste very good at all. The nachos did have me a stomachache after a few hours.
The lift ticket prices are hey reasonable and you can score a discount if you purchase online in advance.

Great place to go and snowboard. We were newbies but everyone was extremely nice and helpful. We chose the 3 days classes that turned out to be excellent. The instructors are patient and got us up and running in no time. All of their rental great was in great shape.
After a 4 hrs of boarding we tried their restaurant which had good food at a good price.
If you want a great place to learn at a snowboard friendly place, go to Brighton!
If you don’t have snow tires, take the bus or you will get a ticket… unless you are really unlucky and crash off the road. Plenty of those that should have read the flashing signs.

Get here early, because parking is HORRENDOUS. It took us about an hour circling the regular and overflow parking lots to find one spot, which was a lucky coincidence.
Food is over priced — $ 15 for a slice of pizza, a drink, and a cookie. But I guess they have to make money somehow… other than the $ 70 lift tickets.
Overall I love the runs and layout of the place, and everyone is pretty friendly. The lift lines aren’t very busy most of the time, and it’s got a great atmosphere.

I debated on whether or not to review Brighton, as I like to think of this resort as one of the best local secrets. Unlike other resorts that have a corporate or franchised vibe, Brighton has a more family, personable vibe to it.
The terrain in my opinion is the best Utah can offer. You have both steep and flat conditions. Easy to Advanced runs. Groomers and back country, all accessible from a chair lift or with minimal hiking!
Other resorts could be very steep or very flat, Brighton is just right.
Unlike Park City, The Canyons, or Snowbird, Brighton is well laid out and managed in order to avoid waiting in long lift lines, parking far away from the lifts and the ticket office. You dont have to trek miles in order to go to your car for lunch or to shed or add a few layers, your car is at the bottom of the lift!
I love Brighton, I’m a lifer. I grew up riding there for 200+ days a year for 6 – 7 years! Now I’m more of a weekend warrior and wouldn’t waste my time going to any other resort.
Brighton is fairly priced. Especially if you compare it to riding any other resort whose day pass is upwards of $ 100, which includes a 20 minute wait in line at the bottom of every run!
Local or tourist, do yourself a favor and ride Brighton!
*side note, Great for both Skiing and Snowboarding, but skiing is probably the minority here.
