Shield System Car Wash

Came in with a car covered in bird poop. Whoops, shouldn’t have parked under that tree for a week– seemed like a good idea at the time to keep it in the shade. Bought the full package to get things back to being presentable.
The pluses: the guys who work here work hard. The first step is usually a soaping up and rinsing with a high pressure hose. The guy who was working this day went the extra mile to try and get the stuck-​on guano off. He did really well, all things considered.
The washing system is generally pretty gentle, but effective. There are a couple mainly cosmetic things that could get easily damaged, but seem to have not been knocked off yet.
The negatives: it’s all a bit pricey. Also I don’t think the full packages are really worth it. The protective sealants and such don’t really seem to do much, at least to the visible parts of the car.
I do keep coming back, because it’s in a convenient location and the folks who work here do their job well.

Did a basic detail for interior and exterior, no shampoo of interiors. They did okay, nothing special. I opted not to try their new protective coating they push with the car wash. The head guy said he’s been trying to get people to get that so he can see how well it works. For the price overall, I’ve had better work elsewhere. But those groups are booked several days out and my work schedule does not allow me to plan that far ahead. :(

Their wash scratched my black paint consistently (I only took it to this carwash), I needed a buff after only 2 years and under 10,000 miles (my car sleeps in a garage). I made the bad choice of hiring their detail shop to buff and wax my 2013 car. I made 2 reservations including taking a day off work to bring the car and they said they had no time to do it. After the third time they finally took me in. They charged me over 170 to do it and not only did they leave swirl marks all over my boot and white residue all over the plastic components, but as soon as it rained my paint was covered in watermarks. I went back and showed them, the guy invented every possible excuse not to take responsibility. I ended up paying 170 dollars to have my paint permanently damaged. Don’t take your car here. I never will again.

My car was in dire need of a deep cleaning and conditioning. A friend recommended them for inside detailing. Figuring out where they are was a bit interesting. It is a car wash but the garage area is detailing. It was a hole day leaving my car there. Wasn’t a big issue as I was working near by. Picked it up and spotless! Just like I bought it. Seats were still damp but gave me covers and mats as well. Did an exceptional job!

I was really happy with the Deluxe Interior detail for $ 80, my car looks like new. Nice guys too.
you have to schedule a full upholstery cleaning in advance so this walk in service included only the carpets, but they did some work on the seats too.

I was a little nervous going in to this place after reading some of the reviews. I have to say that the service and employees blew me away. They are very thorough and pretty swift. I had a lot of dog hair in the back seat and one of three employees told me he was unsure they would be able to get any of it out. When they were all finished I was shocked to see a clean and clear backseat, no sign of a dog at all.
I will be going back every couple of months.

I called to set up an appointment for a premium detail — they promised that if I had it in by 930 AM, they’d have it done by 330 PM. I took the car in as scheduled, and as I was about to leave, the attendant said «oh, because it’s winter, it will take 2 – 3 days for the carpets to dry.» Since we’re going on a road trip tomorrow, that won’t work. Wish they’d told me that on the phone, saving me a wasted morning and drive to the carwash.

I try 4 times wash my three cars on this place all the three times I ask for the staff «Take care my rims» cause all the time it get of from the machine with dirt rims.
They don’t care even when you give good tip.
In this case I don’t encourage nobody go there. Thumbs down for it !!

There are basically two choices in the area: Shield System and Allston Car Wash. I normally prefer to go to a full service place, so I went to Allston. The results were TERRIBLE. They did a fundamentally poor job — sloppy, rushed, and left my car still dirty after I was out $ 30 for a «full interior/​exterior» wash.
Go to Shield System. Yes, it means spending 10 minutes doing it yourself, but if you value the quality of work for the money you pay, it’s totally worth it. You’ll leave feeling way more satisfied with the job and you’ll have spent a lot less money.

I have been using them for the past two months. I purchased their unlimited car wash package and It keeps my car clean. You can get your car washed up to 2x a day. I have been going once a week so far.
Drive through takes about 5 minutes and you come out clean. Only thing that prevents me from giving a full 5 stars is that rinse does not get all the soap off of the car specially around the bottom of the doors/​door sills. Depends on the guy who works there when you pull in, the prewash with pressure washer varies from thorough to halfassed.
Regardless, it has yet to leave any watermarks on the car or at least where I care like on the front end.
I recommend them if you want a good Carwash where you don’t have to tip anyone.

If you just want a quick, no-​frills wash, I would say go for it.
But thats it.
I took my truck today and got the highest wash. $ 18+ $ 2 for tire shine. Totally not worth it. First, I spent $ 3 to vacuum the truck myself. (I actually spent $ 3.25 because the machine ate a quarter.) Once pulled into the wash, I got a quick spray by the attendant, and then I was off. Everything went fine, until the end.
The «Tire Shine» was only on HALF of my tires, there was no one there to dry my truck completely or to even push my mirrors back.
Maybe I’m just used to another car wash in the Allston-​Brighton area. I wont say which one… but there, for $ 21 to get a full vacuum, wipe down of the dash, trim panels, clean interior glass, etc, and the car is fully hand dried… even in the door frames and such. That doesn’t include tire shine, but at least if you did get it there, its hand applied.
So just for a quick was to get the dirt off, by all means… but if you want a good full-​service, go elsewhere.

I would give Shield System a 3.5 if possible. Yes, it’s cheap, yes it’s fast, and yes your car gets clean, but there is a huge BUT.
I was on my way to Chestnut Hill, and my car was dirty. There were no other car washes (other than things like the self wash on Market Street) on my way from Charlestown, so I hopped off of Storrow to come here. My fairly expensive new car was only 3 weeks old. To my horror, when I got out of the car at my next stop, two nice chunks of paint were missing from my bumper. Not only are bumpers normally expensive, but I also have parking sensors in my bumper, so yeah…
I called Shield System after I left, and I was told that the manager needed to speak with the owner, but the most likely outcome was that they would buy touch-​up paint and paint my car for me. No problem. I was going out of the country in a week or two, so there was no rush to get the paint. I told the manager when I was coming back, but then more and more time passed — about 2 weeks after I returned from a 2-​week trip. I called the car wash a few times, and no one called me back. I finally had to go down there… I live in Medford… to find out what was going on. They had my paint, but they did not paint it for me. I’m not great at using touch-​up paint. It really is a fine art, as I learned in college and for a little bit thereafter when I was driving a pretty old car and people banged it up with their doors, etc. in my college community. I had to paint the bumper of my brand-​new car myself (which should not have needed to be done in the first place), and while it doesn’t look awful, it doesn’t look great, either. My car is leased, so I’m going to have to figure something out before 2014, but for now it’s okay, and my car was clean otherwise that day.

$ 9 for a drive through the wash; $ 18 for the super including everything. I took the super and my car looked amazing afterwards. However, there was some brown gunk on my wheel that didn’t come off — I must have driven through some oil or some similar liquid.
Ben and Eric were EXTREMELY helpful. Eric got a bottle of some spray degreaser and got down on his knee and scrubbed it himself. it took a while and was quite difficult to do. But, he got it off. He then sent me through the wash again to really polish it nicely.
Great car wash, great staff. What more do you want in a car wash?

This is the best automatic car wash around Brighton/​Allston. I purchased their «The Best» car wash which includes extra wax. I found that by paying for the most expensive wash you actually save money because the wax lasts longer and you don’t have to go in as often. Between automatic washes and when there is pollen and dust all over the car, I’m able to just give it a quick hose off and quick dry with a microfiber cloth and the car will shine like it was just waxed again. This is a spray on wax of course so there are limitations to how good it gets but it’s better than most people would think. The products that the car wash industry can use today (e.g. waxes, rinse agents) are much more improved than what existed in the past, although many places still use inferior products. This is not the cheapest car wash but well worth a couple of extra bucks. Many times they internet coupons which save $ 5 off the $ 18 «The Best» wash which brings your net price to $ 13 a wash. Another positive is that they actually spend some time «pre-​washing» the car by hand spray before the automatic part kicks in. This «pre-​washing» really makes the difference between a great wash and a mediocre wash. At so many other car washes they barely do any spraying by hand and the employees look like they just got out of work release or crawled out from their parents unfinished basement apartment. Not here. Normal and hard working employees at this location. One thing I would change is that some of their other locations offer «Unlimited» monthly car wash passes but you cannot buy them at this location. And these passes are not cheap so I’m not sure why they aren’t for sale at the Brighton — Allston location? BTW, at ANY car wash look for the sign at the entrance to light-​up with the wash you paid for just to confirm you get the correct wash. The oldest trick in the book (at least the car wash book) is to charge for the more expensive wash and only give you a cheaper wash and pocketing the difference. Trust but verify. This location as you can probably tell has never had any problems like this.

I brought my car here the first time because I had brought my cousin’s car here and she trusted them to detail it. I got «the Best» car wash which is about 17.50, and it is really good, except if there is alot of bird poo on your car, sometimes «the Best» is «only just okay.» Either way I am a frequently returning customer. Because the guys here are nice, and it’s conveniently located.
They have reasonably priced detailing as well. I enjoy being in my car once these guys have run through it with a vacuum several times. The inside and out have been polished to near perfection and for under 50 bucks.
I usually get the top priced car wash, and the «interior super clean» and that sets me up for a while, there is nothing more comforting than a clean car (in my opinion) but I had to have a sense of humor this time — the guys made fun of me as they sat in my back seat throwing out my three week old pile of starbucks cups one at a time.

The early bird gets the worm?! Is this statement true? Not if you go to Shield System to get your car washed. I was a late bird on Friday night around 6pm and was only charged 10 dollah dollah billz for my car wash. My car was dirty, I have a neighbor who loves pigeons, he feeds these pigeons and they love to have a big poop party on my car. Usually, I think those vile creatures aim for my windshield, the driver side window and my personal fave, right near the door handle. That’s what you get for driving an economy korean car, circa 2001, I guess. I drove past Shield System earlier in the day and thought about taking a spin through, but I was too hungover and didn’t feel like it. So, I decided to go back later in the day, en route to my Shabu fix. I was not disappointed. Not only was there NO line (normally in the day, especially around noon it’s packed oh and on weekends, good luck as the wait could be 20 minutes), this time, not a car to speak of. Surely, they can’t be closed, can they? No, they were not. I drove to the back and then saw their prices. They range from about 18 bux for their luxurious wash, to about 11.50 for their, I’ll call it, economy/​no frills wash. Well, being a no frills kinda gal, I opted for that one. Don’t know why the nice man working charged me only 10 bux, maybe he liked my dress? I gladly paid my ten dollars and asked him what I need to do. You just have to keep it in neutral and keep your foot off the break and Voila! Oh, he did remind me to CLOSE my WINDOW. I told you, I was nursing a hangover, I wasn’t the brightest bulb on the tree that day. A few minutes later, I exited the car wash, clean as a whistle. Of course, I’ll be back — and remember to roll up the window. Yes, roll. What, do you really think I have power windows?

It may not be nearly as popular or offer as many services as its neighbor in Allston, but if you want a clean car it will only cost you $ 8. They usually don’t have a wait and you’ll be crusing ’round Brighton in your clean car in a jiff.
