The restaurant is closed. They have a for sale sign in the window. It’s a shame because they had amazing food that was always on a different level than the other sub pizza shops in the area. Overall really good sandwiches and amazing pizza.

How was the pizza there, you ask? I wouldn’t know. I called 5 times and no one answered. I even waited between the calls. It went to some voice-mail that was full so I guess they never check it. I called at 6pm. «Proper food. Proper taste.» How about proper phone number? I can’t even order online! How are people expected to place an order? I don’t intend on going there to put an order in and wait 20−30mins. I was hoping to try the proper 4-way sampler pizza and was looking forward to it. The phone number I called, which is all over their website, was 6177894889. Am I missing something? I had high hopes and was absolutely disappointed before I even tried anything there.

I got the buffalo chicken sub and was pretty disappointed. Not a lot of chicken and the chicken that was in the sub didn’t have any sort of a buffalo taste to it. The sub was essentially stuffed with tomatoes and blue cheese(i did request extra cheese). From the looks of the other reviews(and the name of course) this seems like strictly a pizza place, and a good one at that. I’ll try these guys again for the pizza, but I would definitely not try the buffalo chicken sub.

It’s true– the bacon and potato pizza DOES live up to its hype! And it’s such a steal because one slice of pizza is literally ¼th of the whole pizza, so if you’re not a big eater, one slice will be enough to fill you up. I’ve also tried their cheese, pepperoni, and buffalo pizza, but I think the bacon and potato pizza wins the cake. The pizza is really thin so sometimes the crust can come out burnt, but if you can get past that, the pizza is a slice of savory, salty, heaven. One time, I came by late at night right before closing to pick up some bacon and potato slices. One of the workers there told me that they ran out of bacon and potato slices, so I ended up with two cheese slices instead. But I guess the worker must have felt bad for me because he told me I could grab a free drink on the house! All in all: get the bacon and potato pizza and stay away from the pepperoni pizza. It’s nothing special. P. S. no bathroom on the premises.

It is such a shame the service was so poor because the pizza was great. It took 2 hours for my 1 pizza to be delivered(even though I lived very close to the location). I called at the 1.5 hour mark to seen if my order was still coming when I was told that it was coming out of the oven and should be there in 10⁄15 minutes. A half hour later I received the phone call form the delivery man saying he was out front– but when I went downstairs no one was there. I called him back and he was asking me if my address was in Newton. which it isn’t… So I told him my correct address to which he responded with saying that he was out front. I told him he must be at the wrong house when I see a car backing up and a man sprinting to my door. I told him I had been waiting for 2 hours when he told me they only have 1 cook working and 2 other people. Looking through the other reviews it looks like this has been an issue for a VERY long time, so I won’t be ordering from here again… even though I loved the pizza :(

The pizza at this place is great, but delivery service is terrible. I ordered a salad and a pizza on a weekday night. I live in Allston so delivery should have been pretty quick, but I ended up waiting over 2 hours for my food to arrive. In addition, they forgot my salad so I ended up with a cold pizza and only half my order after two hours. As frustrating as that was, the pizza was really good so it’s still 4 stars assuming that you read these reviews and decide to pick up your food, or aren’t starving so you can expect cold pizza and have the patience to turn your oven on and reheat the pizza when it finally arrives.

So delicious. We got 4 piece sampler– chicken Parmesan, broccoli and sausage, potato and bacon and veggie. All of them were great. Favorite was the potato and bacon though we had a really hard time deciding which was the best. Highly recommend!!!

I love to find the best pizza places and we did here. We picked the choose 4 kinds of pizzas for 20 dollars to see what all the different kinds of pizzas tasted like. We loved all the pizzas but the the proper chicken parm and the bacon potato were my top two. The delivery was right on time.

That bacon and potato pizza tho… I ordered online on a Saturday night and accidentally placed the order for takeout, but getting out of pajamas was not happening. I called and super apologetically asked the guy to change it to delivery; he was so nice and was like«no problem, don’t worry about it.» Delivery took about an hour, which I didn’t mind because of my mistake and the time/day I was ordering, but all the food was still appropriately hot or cold when it arrived(I ordered a lot of stuff so I could spend some serious time with my couch this weekend). The delivery guy was also really nice, which always leaves a good impression. I ordered 1 slice of the bacon and potato pizza, because I was kinda skeptical. Holy crap, SO good! The crust was great, and the potatoes were so thinly sliced that they just added flavor without a lot of heaviness. The bacon is little chunks of thick cut bacon… yum. It’s basically the pizza version of an awesome loaded baked potato. Their steak bomb is also amazing and the large is enough to sustain you for a day. I also got the Proper fries and I’m so glad I did… love that truffle oil! I still have a caesar salad and a ton of fries for tomorrow’s dinner. One reviewer said something about their chicken being dry, so I avoided adding it to the salad. But based on the quality of everything else I got, I would try chicken things from these guys in the future. And I definitely see more bacon and potato pizza in my future.

This is the undercover best food spot in Brighton. A staple on sundays. Their subs are in all honestly some of the best I’ve ever had and I think a lot of that pays tribute to the Iggy’s ciabatta bread(chix parm and chix pesto are unreal). Their pizza is good too, slices are huge. I’ve never gotten deliver from them because I live so close so that has never been a problem and it is worth the walk/drive over.

amazing buffalo chicken slice with real bleu cheese crumble baked into the cheese. may be too much for some. the PROPER slice is the size of 2 slices most other places and comes to $ 4 or $ 5 depending on toppings. there are no weaknesses in this pizza, but it does cost a bit more than most pies.

Their pizza is DELICIOUS! Best buffalo chicken pizza around! I was also impressed by their wonderful customer service! The last time I ordered, I asked for a side of blue cheese dressing with my pizza. They forgot to include the dressing, but offered to bring it over for me, which was so kind of them. I just called to order again, nearly a month later, and the man remembered me and told me that since they forgot the dressing last time, the pizza would be on them this time! So unnecessary, but so kind! Thanks, Proper Slice!

My favorite pizza in the Boston area better than ottos, upper crust and the lot. Their pizza, bombs and burger are great. Some of their staff is so/so but beyond the a very over cooked proper burger on a blue moon i cant say anything bad about this place.

Food is very good here, but I go for one reason and one reason only… Gene Jacobs!!! Friendliest dude in the world and always makes me smile. If you go in, make sure you say hi to him. The pizza and subs are delicious, but not as delicious as Gene Jacobs!

pizza was ok, nothing special. Their cheese pizza is $ 12 but their pepperoni was $ 16! seriously 4 dollars for a handful of pepperonis. You better have the best pepperonis in Boston to charge 4 extra buck for them.

Any pizza place I order from I get a basic pepperoni with extra cheese to test whether or not I will come back and try their specialty pizzas. Proper Slice rivals the best pizza places in Boston. I usually don’t like spending more than $ 25 when ordering pizza and sides, but I make an exception with Proper Slice. First their pizzas are more on the thin crust side, but unlike Upper Crust, the pizza is fully cooked and can stand up properly. I also like that they offer a 4-way pizza sampler so you can try 4 of their specialty pizzas in one. The chicken park, proper steak, buffalo chicken, bbq chicken, chicken pesto, and bacon/potato are all great choices. But what really has me coming back to Proper Slice is their Caesar salad. I’m not sure if the Caesar dressing is homemade or not, but it is out of this world good. They charge a little more for their pizzas than other pizza places, but you can definitely taste the difference in the price.

There are no better words to describe our pizza than burnt cardboard. First it took a hour and a half. Then it arrived cold, burnt(literally chicken parmesan was charcoal nuggets) and one pizza had forgotten the sauce! We ordered truffle fries and got onion rings. Such high hopes and very let down.

Food is pretty good however, rating this 1 star because the service is awful. The first time we ordered we did pick up and they said it would be 15 min and when i arrived to pick it up(after 15 min) i waited another 20 for the order to be ready. Then we called for delivery and the order took over an hour and when it arrived it was cold. The driver seemed stressed and explained they were swamped and understaffed. A second time we ordered for delivery and they delivered it after 2 hours and it was cold once again. The manager offered to comp our next pizza. Which brings us to our last straw, when we placed our order and they honored the comp and took the charge for a pizza off however the pizza never arrived after 1.5 hours(they told us 45 min on the phone) we called and they said the driver hadn’t left but would be very soon. After 2 hours we called again and they tried to get in touch with the driver and the driver didn’t pick up. They offered to comp our next order again. when the driver arrived they again said they were short staffed. if i could give 0 stars i would.

My first experience with the Proper Slice came in the form of a Proper Grilled Chicken with pesto. Pros: the sandwich was huge. Easily two meals! Pesto was delicious. Cons: the chicken was dry and flavorless. Would not order again. My second venture I gave it another chance and ordered the Chicken Pesto pizza(what can I say? I’m a chicken pesto person). Pros: A small pizza from PS is 2 – 3 meals – pretty good value for a $ 13 pizza. Also, the crust was delicious! Cons: Again, the chicken was dry and unappealing! I am left to assume that PS simply does not do chicken well. My third and subsequent experiences(my friends really love the place) I went with their small Veggie pizza – and the third time was certainly the charm! The veggie pizza features roasted red peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, goat cheese, mozzarella, and artichokes. Never have I ever had artichokes on a pizza, and they truly took me by surprise. The pizza was nowhere near as «green» as I typically find veggie pizzas, as there is no green pepper or broccoli in sight. However, the goat cheese and artichoke give the pizza a certain tang that makes it totally delicious. I wish they’d add green peppers for the crunch and visual appeal, but otherwise, this pizza gets two thumbs up! One of my favorite foods that I’ll certainly buy again.

Oh my God, I am literally in heaven as I am typing this right now. My boyfriend and I wanted to have a relaxing night in and order something that was both satisfying and not too expensive. We settled on pizza and when I looked up good pizza places in Brighton, the Proper Slice came up. BESTDECISIONEVER. Now, I can’t really help you out if you’re a plain slice eater or prefer more traditional toppings. Whenever my boyfriend and I eat pizza, we always try and get the most unusual and interesting toppings we can find. Something that we wouldn’t be able find at any old pizza shop. My boyfriend really wanted the Spicy Pulled Pork and I was all about the Proper Green Eggs and Ham. We agonized for a good five minutes trying to make a choice until we noticed the 50⁄50 option. BINGO! Since we live in Brighton, delivery literally took less than 20 minutes. That’s unheard of in the delivery world, especially for the city. When I opened the pizza box, it was like Christmas morning. The eggs on the Green Eggs and Ham were perfect, sunny-side up eggs that were still soft ad slightly runny, just the way I like it. The saltiness of the prosciutto and the freshness of the pesto perfectly complemented the mild egg-y flavor. As I continued through my slice, I came upon… what was this… baked potato? FUCKYES. I gotta hand it to my boyfriend though, the Spicy Pulled Pork blew me away. To be honest, I can’t even remember how good the pork itself was because I just couldn’t get over the sauce. Mmmmm. Sweet and tangy with a hint of spiciness. Made even better by the pineapple. That’s right. PINEAPPLE. I have never physically been to the Proper Slice so I can’t say what the restaurant experience is like, but as far as delivery goes, Proper Slice is pretty dope. And my stomach agrees.
