This place is not closed and if you think it is, that’s a shame. I look forward to their visits on 90 Madison street! Their mouth-watering turkey, bacon, avocado is to die for. Great owners and even better food. If you have a chance, do yourself and GO!

This adorable little food truck is often parked outside an office building on Madison near where I work in Cherry Creek. I always notice when it’s there because it looks like a tiny cottage(or an enormous bird house, whichever you prefer) and for some reason that makes me smile. I have been meaning to try their food for quite some time but I am generally rushing to work and never get a chance to. Today a rare opportunity presented itself: I got to work early and actually had time to grab lunch, so down the block to the Split Pea I went. One of the greatest things about this food truck is the variety of delicious, healthy options. In the mood for soup? They have soup. In the mood for a salad? They have salad. In the mood for a sandwich? You guessed it, they have those too. And not only do they have all these things; they also have several choices for each category. And the best part? The prices are reasonable! The problem I have with a lot of food trucks are the outrageous prices they charge for tiny portions of food. But at the Split Pea, you can get a cup of soup for 2.75, a salad for 5.50, or a sandwich for $ 6! That’s what I’m talkin about. The portions are substantial and the food is fresh. Today I tried the egg salad sandwich and a cup of split pea soup. I think the last time I ate split pea soup was probably when I was about 10 years old but since it’s their namesake I wanted to give it a chance. I’m not sure if it’s something I would order frequently but it was still pretty tasty. The egg salad sandwich was delicious and I love the multigrain bread they use! It was light, fluffy, and flavorful– not dense and dry like some multigrains can get. Next on my list is the grilled caprese sandwich. I also am looking forward to trying one of the salads; they ran out just before I got a chance to order. The woman running the cart was a one woman show but so sweet and very efficient! Despite the fact that she was the only one there, my food came out faster than it has at food trucks with 3 people working. Granted, the soups and salads are already prepared so that cuts down on wait time but I was still impressed. I can’t wait to go back! They seem to be in Cherry Creek pretty often and from their Facebook page I noticed they are sometimes down on S. Broadway as well. If you pass by this little house make sure you stop and try something!
