The first time I caught these guys, they closed up early. Then it happened again. I was all about to give up on them and finally caught them one day still open. Hooray. Tapsilog with fried egg and rice was tasty. Too bad it’s not the old school garlic fried rice. 3.75 stars

Hmm… I’ve never really had authentic Filipino food, so I can’t really compare. Had a nice talk with what I assumed to be the owners while waiting for my food when they were outside of the Giftcenter today. Got hooked up with some sausages in my order as well. Pretty chill owners, so 4 stars for that. How about the food? Didn’t really amaze me to be honest. I grew up in the street food culture. This place didn’t make craving for more when I finished. I had #6 Dice Chicken and I believe #2 which was beef. Beef over rice was pretty much jerky style. Pretty bland, not sure where the taste was. I could have probably pulled off wannabe Filipino food if I were to DIY. As for #6, much better taste wise. Chicken was diced with lots of flavoring. But overall experience was so-so for the food. I’ll round up for these guys. GL my Filipino people!

I work in SF. About a couple of weeks I saw this food truck on and I wanted to give it a try. According to the website one of the items was spamsilog(spam). But I when I got there for lunch they didn’t have spamsilog. I ended up getting a combo of longsilog(boiled and grilled sausage) and bangsilog(milkfish). I didn’t care too much about the longsilog because having it boiled and grilled I believe loses its flavor. Generally I hate milkfish because it’s too bony. However the milkfish on this dish was moist and not bony at all. I would definitely recommend the bangsilog. Overall the dish was pretty good. If they have spamsilog in the future I’ll probably give them a higher rating.

I was really hopeful. Sisig is one of my favorite Filipino foods. When I saw Sisig Silog on the menu, I knew I had to have it. I was really disappointed. It’s not about the price – at $ 8 for sisig, garlic rice, and a fried egg, it could be a good deal. The garlic rice is good. Garlic rice is hard to mess up. The fried egg is a fried egg. Also hard to mess up. But the sisig… was disappointing. Not flavorful. For a food truck especially which is normally a sign of really unique and quality food at a reasonable price, it was… well, disappointing. I’m going to another food truck the next time. Or maybe just stick with adobo. You can’t mess that up. Right?

Probably the best Filipino dish inspired truck out there. My first and only time so far at this truck I ordered the Sisig silog. Love that they add an over-medium egg. Their garlic rice is just as it should be – not too garlic-y and no ginger-like taste. Meat itself was cooked perfectly and it was really a comfort food dish. Would have been nice to have two eggs instead of one, but I’m sure you can ask for a second egg for an additional cost. Portion size was very generous. I definitely walked away from this meal feeling very full.

I never eat at Filipino restaurants. My mom kinda brainwashed me when I was little and always said that there was no reason to try Filipino food outside of her kitchen since she cooked better food. And not gonna lie, she was right. My mama’s(insert ANY filipino dish here) was almost always way more bomb than what my aunt or any other friend’s mom would serve…#sorry. Then, I saw the Yumsilog truck sitting outside my work. Gah! Although I’ve wanted to try this filipino food truck for curiosity-sake, my mom’s matter-of-fact voice lingered into my head. But since I always want to prove my mother wrong, I ordered the SISIGsilog and braced myself… The verdict? IMPRESSED! 1) Right temperature. I feel like generally, with food trucks, sometimes the temperature can be way off, either cold or an awkward type of room temp warm. But, my food tasted like it was fresh off the grill! Hot! 2) Sisig! The marinade was on point! I like my sisig kinda sour and a little heavy on the vinegar. Add some sriracha for that spicy fix and you’re good to go. Growing up in a Filipino household and having silog for breakfast and lunch conditions you to love and be comforted by runny eggs and garlic rice. I would say that the sisigsilog gave me that comfy feeling. It reminded me of home, and so with that, I would come back for sure.

Another OtG Hayward event with another truck to try: Yumsilog! I’ve always seen this around but always neglected to try it out. As a fellow Filipino, I put all my procrastination aside and tried out the truck. There were a lot of silog options that I was familiar with, but I wanted to try one I’ve never tried before. I ended up with at combination silog. My two choices for the silog was the lumpia poppers and sisig. The service was very friendly from start to finish. My order was freshly cooked since I could see steam coming from my paper plate. The sisig consisted of a good portion of lean cut pork. The traditional sisig has more fat than lean meat. The sisig was a little too vinegary for my taste, but had a little kick to it with the jalapeño in it. Still not too shabby. The lumpia poppers were crunchy and meaty. I was so in a rush to bit into one and ended up burning the inside of my mouth. The garlic fried rice was kinda dry and my sunny side up egg was hardly recognizable. The dish I had was OK. I would like to try the truck other silog menu items next time.

Great sisig and bbq chicken. Rice is kinda dry and not very flavorful. Egg is a nice touch but not very well-cooked nor seasoned correctly. Pretty good for the price though. 8 bucks for one entrée or 11 for a combo of 2.

Good option if you’re having that fill-in-the-blank-silog craving. Surprisingly, San Francisco lacks Filipino food options, so it’s kinda nice to see this truck around. I saw a few things that were prepared differently than I’m familiar with, such as longanisa in the deep fryer or, a sauce being added to the meats mid-fry. Shouldn’t longanisa be cooked in a pan of boiling water? Isn’t tocino marinated beforehand? While I think these were efforts to facilitate the long wait, I think it may have taken away from the flavor of the food. –1 I normally don’t give negative points for a long wait, but when someone who just paid gets their food while you’ve been waiting for yours for 20+ mins, it’s not a good look. Maybe cooking a batch of meats before hand would help get the food out in order. This is a food truck, not fine-dining, so in my head early food cooking is OK. –1 Overall, a good value and decent way to satisfy your Filipino food craving. I’ll be back. Expect to take a long lunch if you’re gonna visit.

At tonight’s Off the Grid in Hayward, I saw the Yumsilog food truck. I ordered a combo meal with tocino and longanisa. The plate I got back had 2 longanisa sausages, a bunch of pork tocino, one fried egg and a ton of rice, all for $ 10. The longanisa was cooked perfectly, with a crispy skin and sweet meat inside. The tocino was pretty good, though I like mine cooked a little more than most people. Overall, the dish was really good and very filling. But they had run out of turon, so I’ll have to save that for next time.

I wanted the tocilog but they were out. I ended up getting the sisig($ 7). The sisig tasted like straight up pork and vinegar. The plate came with garlic fried rice that tasted like plain steamed rice with a little bit of garlic mixed in. It also came with an overcooked egg. If the egg was runny, I think it would have helped cut through the tartness from the vinegar. Not sure about the other items but I would not order the sisig again.

visited this truck at a local food truck festival. we ordered around 6.30pm, and were surprised to find out that they’d run out of several menu options already. a bit surprising since this event was scheduled to run until 9pm. we settled on the sisig silog for $ 7, which was a big plate of bbq pork, fried egg, and cucumbers over garlic rice. food was good, and very filling. we hope to come back again next time to try some of the other menu options. guessing we have to get here earlier before they sell out of their popular items!

I ordered the #6 which is rice(didn’t taste the garlic), Sisig and an egg. The sisig was not too dry and very flavorful! I must say it was very good! I will need to try the lumipa next time… Thanks for stopping by!

We tried this place today during moveable feast. And it was delicious! My bf got a plate with BBQ pork, Sisig, Garlic rice with a fried egg on top and some lumpia poppers. The guy working talked him into it and I’m glad he did. It was delicious! The BBQ pork was awesome — and I’m not a pork fan. The rice with the egg & chili sauce was yummy. The Sisig was good but not outstanding. The lumpia poppers were amazing. The food and service was great and we will definitely be looking for this truck in the future!

Maybe I’m just not a fan of Filipino food or the current food truck hype, but I think there are several things about Yumsilog that could be better. Chicken Adobo — had too much of a vinegar taste Barbeque — decent Garlic Fried Rice — the garlic flavor was barely there. If you didn’t know it was supposed to be garlic flavored, you would have thought it was just plain rice. Some of the rice was undercooked as well.

To be honest, I was completely hyped about this truck. And for good reason. It’s a nice looking truck with a great logo and artwork. The food is good, but that’s really all there is to it. I had their sisig silog and yumsub(a silog sandwich) with a fresh batch of tocino. Yumsub first: It’s interesting, but like the rest of their menu — it needs some sort of niche. The juices of the tocino combined with the fried egg compliment the flavor and softness of the bread real well. The tomato also adds fresher flavor. Word of advice? Eat the yumsub fast, because the hot oil can sog up the bread. The sisig silog had a great grilled flavor, but it was a bit disappointing. Every other place I’ve had silog at offered me some sort of sauce to spill over. That being said, this sisig felt a bit dry, and I think a cup of soy sauce and vinegar really would’ve done it wonders. Also, the meat was a bit lean for my taste. It would’ve been a lot better with a fatty meat. No, that’s not healthy at all, but hey — this is Filipino food. Since it’s a truck, I’ll probably give it another shot next time it’s here because their lumpia poppers are getting a lot of good reviews. The prices, like The WOW Truck, may push some people away, but I have this to say: They pack your plate a lot better than The WOW does. Not to mention the chef isn’t afraid to try new things. This truck has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see them grow. They have SUPERB customer service and I will definitely be coming back.

Yumsilog sells filipino meats ala carte(3) or add you could garlic rice, fried egg, & veggies(silong, 6) menu: appetitzers, 8 kinds of silogs(tocino, tocilog, adobo, spam, hot dog, bangus, longsilong, tapsilong/ locale: union city eats(9⁄22) sampling: lumpia(3) –7 small bland pieces with dipping sauce abodo(3) –7 small wing sections breaded, fried and soaked in soy sauce. no other taste. besides soy, would say food is bland. foodnotes: –not much of a rice eater so skipped, reviews have low opinions on the rice. –not impressed with food. i could do the same at home albeit a little bit more burnt. –pricey comes to mind for the silong options.

I thought food trucks were supposed to feed the masses quickly & efficiently. And it’s not like I hold food trucks to a higher standard than I would a brick & mortar restaurant; if anything I make excuses & concessions for them, but it is unacceptable to keep a customer waiting 25 – 30 minutes without keeping them informed as to why it is they’re standing in 85-degree without food. Friday, 9/2, the bf & I checked out Moveable Feast at the San Mateo Expo Center(review to follow.) Yumsilog was a truck I hasn’t tried yet, plus I was craving Filipino food so I stepped up to place my order(yay for no lines.) I ordered BBQ pork for the bf($ 7, with garlic rice & an egg) & lumpia shanghai($ 3, thin, pork-filled eggrolls) to be shared. Greasy, greasy, greasy. As for the lumpia, it never came out because the deep fryer was broken. I wish they would’ve told me that when I first ordered. I asked for my $ 3 back. I should’ve asked for all my money back because what we did sample was not very good. The Yumsilog Truck left a bad taste in my mouth, literally & figuratively.

I don’t usually 5-star a truck on the first try, but damn this truck had me getting my fork and spoon on!!! Lumpia poppers was spot on crispy and tasty, tocino was tender, egg had that perfect runny yolk to explode over my garlic fried rice. If I wasn’t at work, I’d totally go all in with my hand on my tocilog plate so I could lick the yumminess off my fingers. This food really brought me back to my Filipino roots, reminding me of all those great family weekend breakfasts growing up. My only dilemma is what to try next — Sisig? Longanisa? BBQ? Adobo? My lips are quivering with anticipation!
