Took my mom in the Mobile section today to look at the LGG2. She was ready to make a purchase but we were both detracted. I found myself to be very disappointed in the lack of knowledge among the reps at this store. As a tech-y myself, I expect a salesperson to know the facts on the phones. First, the BB Mobile rep tried to tell me that it was the exact same as the Galaxy S4. Going in, I knew the G2 had twice the internal memory, a 2.26 ghtz vs a 1.7 ghtz quad-core processor, a Full HD display vs the Amoled AND I was more fond of LGs unique UI with the intuitively placed rear-key vs the touch wiz on SS. While discussing these features, the Verizon rep interjected to show me this” amazing” S4 photo that was on her iphone!!! Really?! I then explained to her that I wanted an Optical Image Stabilization camera over Samsung’s because I took a lot of action shots. She tried to tell me it was the same thing when in fact it was not. Plus, she was trying to sell me a Samsung from her iphone. I hope she eventually realized this. My mom also noticed that they backed away when they realized I knew my phones prior to shopping there. For people who were supposed to be non-commissioned, they sure we’re pushing the S4. I happened to know it has a high return rate at Verizon. My mom decided within 5 minutes that she would rather pay extra for her phone at a stand-alone Verizon or buy one on Amazon. She did felt like they undermined my tech knowledge(either because I am a young female, have blonde hair or both) and she would rather have a rep that not only knows their devices but respects the consumers wishes.

So I was torn on a three or four star review for this place. Here are the reasons why: 1. We had a car stereo install done at a Virginia Beach Best Buy and they hosed it all up. Bad!!! This location called that store, gave them hell and took care of our problem. Awesome! Customer service for this experience was five star all the way. 2. Selection… not bad. Prices are not to bad either. This is not the largest Best Buy I have been in but still, they have a decent amount of stuff in stock. Where they fall short is high end laptops and All-in-One PC’s. I want a 17.3″ laptop with power. Not a 15″ Pentium. WTH? If it’s not at least an i5 it’s not even worth looking at. Oh, if they carried anything that seemed good at first you will notice no Nvidia or AMD graphics. Intel HD graphics! Seriously? Same went for the All-in-One’s. Why the Pentium? Does no one on this planet want an All-in-One that has power? Hell, even the iMac’s are i5 processors. 3. My wife had a Samsung laptop and the place you plug the power in cracked as it was plastic. It still worked to charge it and run it off the power but the plug did not secure in place. Instead, it would just fall out so you had to be very cautious with it. It was only a month or so old. We had the Best Buy protection plan so we brought it in. They took a look and said it was only a about a $ 15 or $ 20 part but they had to send it off to Geek Squad HQ to be repaired and it would only take about a week. Geek Squad HQ said the motherboard was damaged(it was not when we sent it as I checked it) and they junked it. So, they were going to give my wife a laptop of equal value. The store was able to get her hard drive back from the laptop which was great, but what makes this entire situation truly suck is that she was told that they would do a simple repair, give her machine back and her protection plan would be good to go. It was a two year plan I believe and was almost $ 300. Well, when they junk a machine and swap it out, you have to purchase a new plan because that used the value of your previous plan. How did a $ 15 to $ 20 repair end up using our entire plan forcing us to purchase another? Horseshit!!! Geek Squad sucks. This aside, the store did not deem it junked, but they assured us it was a simple fix and that we would still have our protection plan. Not the case. 4. The laptop they sent to my wife to replace the other was jacked up. We went online and read reviews and they were horrible!!! Overheating problems plagued this model and it did funky things with the display. We returned this one to another location though so that’s another review altogether. Anyway, the manager was awesome and did what he could do and one employee named Chris was incredibly helpful through this whole process. He stepped up as if he were a supervisor and come to find out, he wasn’t. He should be! So, due to the laptop issue we had, I want to say three stars. Due to the manager and Chris I want to say five stars… so four it is.

Quite small from the other Best Buy Stores i have been and they don’t have a Apple/Mac Computers available in the store. But you can order online and pick it up here plus the employees are very friendly.
