Really good pizza… one of the best in Bristol. Their sauce is very tasty and they put on just the right amount, their cheese is also just the right amount… big pieces, yummy crust. They have a nice variety of options too… I liked their white pizza with ricotta the best… my daughter who hates tomato based sauces also enjoyed this one. I also liked their veggie chicken… they did not skimp on the veggies and the chicken chunks were delish. I would totally want to order from this place again… maybe try some of their other menu items!

My friend and I ordered a pizza, caesar salad, buffalo wings, and cannolis. The pizza was pepperoni, bacon, olives, and onions. The onions were a bit of a mistake as they were long and stringy and made eating the slices a bit of a challenge, but the quality was good overall. 4⁄5 The wings were a bit too vein-y for my friend’s taste, and while I didn’t mind them too much, she couldn’t continue to eat them.2.5/5 The caesar salad was very plain, the croutons were very hard and again a bit of a deterrent for my friend 1.5÷5 The cannolis were good.3.5/5 I’d definitely try them again

Great place for that thin crust pizza thy also have some unique ones like the Irish with potatoes on the pizza I know sounds crazy but it’s good. The also have a thanksgiving pizza as well with turkey and all the fixings. Salads are good as well and there dressing is homemade and yummy. If your in Bristol and want good thin style frank Pepe pizza than this is the place to go.

We ordered a broccoli rabe pizza last night. It was terrible. While I realize it is thin crust, this was like cardboard, hard and with no flavor at all. Almost like it did not raise at all; it was not even puffy around the edge. I did call back on it, and was told it is their thin crust, unless you pay extra for thick crust. We actually threw it out. I have tried Chunky Tomato before with variable results. I am officially done with this place, there are actually a lot of better options out their for decent thin crust pizza.

So glad I found Chunky Tomato amid all central Connecticut’s awesome pizza places. The pizza is excellent. A definite win and an awesome price for the amount you get. The crust is thin, the cheese is thick, and the sauce is soooo good, people. They live up to their name: there are delicious chunks of tomatoes in the sauce. It’s a little surprise burst of flavor every few bites. Can’t say much about the place itself because we ordered takeout. However, it was rather small with few tables so getting take out was a good call. It’s not that you can’t eat inside, it’s just not my style! I will certainly be ordering pizza from here again and again.

We have gotten pizza here quite a few times, they are so great. The workers are super friendly and make me laugh. Also, their canolis are to die for.

Got the buffalo chicken pizza which was excellent. I always look for a good buffalo chicken pizza and this was one of the best I’ve had. With that said… Really whole in wall looking place. Not very inviting. Also not cleanest looking place. Pizza was good, gonna try the grinders next which I hear are excellent. Italian combo and chicken cutlet. I believe it’s the same guy who owned vitas years ago. I would go back. Joey garlics pizza a little better but not by much. It’s by far and away best pizza in Bristol(joeys in Farmington)

My favorite Bristol pizza. Love: meatball, pepperoni, buffalo chicken. Also very good wings. The crust is thin(not too thin) and cooked perfectly every time. Love the chunks of tomato. Always tastes extremely fresh. Meaning to try the canolis, pumpkin ones are calling

We get pizza here about once a month. Every time the pizza tastes great. There are lots if pizza options in route 6. Some are very good. For my money Chunky Tomato is the best. Don’t just order cheese. There specialty pizzas are great.

Best pizza around. Their pepperoni pizza is amazing. Their buffalo chicken pizza is amazing. My wife is gluten-free and they have a gluten-free pizza that is pretty good as well. The staff is so friendly and the food is amazing.

This place kills it. The sandwiches are delicious, fresh and huge. The pizzas can’t be beat and are really well priced. The eggplant is so fresh and the meats are all full of flavor not grease. Really a take out spot but it’s so good it’s worth it, great lunch deals too.

Everyone raves about this place but I’m not very impressed. I have definitely had better pizza and for some reason every time I have eaten anything here with sauce on it I have gotten sick. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because the grinders are pretty good. But I would never come here for the pizza or calzones.

I had a really good meatball grinder! It was seasoned well me the ciabatta bread it came on was delicious. I can’t wait to try more grinders from here.

Chunky Tomato is a nice little pizza place in Bristol, standing out in a town full of the standard Greek-style joints that all seem to blur together(no offense to any particular one of those places, by the way). So far I’ve had their pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizzas, and I can safely say their pepperoni is the best I can remember eating from a place in Bristol. I’m personally a fan of the tiny pepperonis that tend to curl up when cooking over the larger, thinner slices most pizza places use. Another plus for me is their style of buffalo chicken, mainly for what they DON’T use — marinara sauce. I some places will essentially make a regular pizza topped with pieces of cut-up buffalo chicken, and those always taste«off» to me. Luckily, chunky tomato uses hot sauce and blue cheese as their sauce base, and it produces a much better taste(at least for me).

I’ve been back to the Chunky Tomato twice since my last update. Basically, the pizza is very good, can’t say as the same concerning other menu items, specifically, the Chicken Parmesan dinner and the Chicken Parmesan grinder. Both were heavy on the breading, lackluster flavor. Was not a fan of the ciabatta bread used for the Chicken Parmesan grinder also. Some people might like that type of bread, but I didn’t. Would recommend sticking with the pizza made at the Chunky Tomato, it’s the best pizza in the area, IMO. If you are looking for a decent grinder in Bristol though, I suggest Spiga D’Oro.

I go anywhere and everywhere for food and I gotta say this is the best pizza around. Thin crust, fresh ingredients, AMAZING sauce. One thing they do is open every pizza box and show you your pizza when you come to pick up your food as if they’re bragging about what they’ve made… a bit conceited if you ask me… haha kidding! .it’s a small tidbit, I know, but to me it shows they are proud of every pizza they put out. Top that with a staff and owner that are repeatedly the kindest and friendliest group of people I have ever received service from… you’ve really got to check this place out and experience it all first hand. The family started with the most respectable deli in town years ago, and they, in my eyes, have that title in the pizza business now as well. I still need to try the sandwiches, especially since this is the Vita family we’re talking about! Ordered all my superbowl food this year from them and everyone at the party had nothing but great things to say about the pizza and wings(even the blue cheese is delicious!). As two of my friends were making fun of me for ordering a «weird» pizza last night, one jokingly asked the other if he’d ever order it for himself when he tried it, and without hesitation said @!$# yeah I would! .which made the other try it also and he repeated those same sentiments lol. TRYTHEBIGBIRDPIZZA! It’s creative, unique, and EXTREMELY delicious. My other top recommendations so far are: Fresh Mozz Pizza Buffalo Chicken Pizza Thanks for the unbelievably great food and phenominal service every time I come in Chunkys!

Date of service: Oct 30, 2014 Meal: Dinner, dine in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 8 Food to Spend Value: 8 Quality of Service: 8 Overall Rating: 8 I travel to Central Connecticut fairly frequently for work, and I generally try and make the drive down to New Haven from Southington at least once for New Haven style pizza. On this particular trip it was late and my coworker and I were not up for driving down, so we decided to explore Unilocal for alternative closer options since we were still in the mood for pizza. Chunky Tomato popped up with top notch reviews, and since it was also billed as Italian style, we decided to check it out. We almost missed it when driving, as it is a fairly unobtrusive storefront in a sleepy small strip. The place is obviously geared more toward take out, but since there was one table, we decided to eat in. Thursday nights are personal pizza night, meaning the personal size is discounted. We ordered 3 to get a range of flavors: Meat Lover, White Clam, and the Spinach, Eggplant & Ricotta. Each pizza was fantastic and full of flavor, and the spread across the 3 was different enough that there were lots of flavors to experience. The Meat Lover was hearty and a great all meat option. The White Clam’s flavor was delicious and, even more importantly, not fishy, which ironically enough is a problem I have had with white clam pizzas at some of the New Haven style places. Our favorite, however, was the Sausage Eggplant & Ricotta. The melding of flavor and texture on this pie was delightful and much better than I expected. The pies here are true Italian style, the ingredients are top notch, and the preparation is fantastic. I don’t think you can go wrong here on a pizza, and I hear their sandwiches are great too! They even do pizza by the slice, so I am envisioning picking up lunch here at some point in the future when I am back in town. The owner was super personable and even offered us a free t shirt(granted kids size) if we ate all the pizza we ordered. We of course couldn’t bend to that challenge, and we not only ate all the pizza but even got some mini pumpkin cannolis which were also quite tasty. The prices are very good for what you get, and of course the food as already mentioned is fantastic. As I mentioned earlier, the place is tiny and is mostly suited for takeout, which they apparently do a ton of. One of the most fun aspects of sitting and eating in the restaurant was seeing and conversing with all the local regulars who came in to pick up their To Go orders(and they thought it was cool that the restaurant had some out of town visitors from Seattle!). Chunky Tomato is truly a local Bristol pizza place, and when I am back in town I will definitely be making a return visit!

Hot, tasty cheese over sweet, chunky sauce, In Bristol’s realm of pizza, this pie is the boss. When you open your mouth and in food you toss, Your overwhelmed taste buds will be at a loss. Ordered a couple large cheese pizzas to bring to Firefly Hollow on a Friday night. Because we ordered two large, they gave us $ 6 off and the total bill only came to $ 25. A great deal for a whole lot of food. This is a small, simple take-out joint. I liked how the young cashier opened the boxes to show us the pizzas before sealing them up. The pizza was absolutely delicious.
