I was really impressed! Went for happy hour — got 4 big rolls(6 pieces each) and it was $ 16! The rolls were really good! Definitely a great deal!

Probably one of the worst sushi places I’ve been to. I can’t understand why people like this place. Maybe because it’s cheap? I know 2 people who got food poisoning after eating here. My fiancée and I went and ordered 5 special rolls and only 1 was decent. The water was dirty. And there was hair in the salad. Absolutely disgusting.

This has become my favorite sushi place! Although the outside might be misleading with the small building and empty parking lot, once inside you will see how inviting and welcoming bonsai is. My usual is the shrimp shumai, crunchy shrimp roll and Philadelphia roll. The sushi always tastes fresh and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend this place if you are a sushi fan. Can’t speak on the non sushi items, but can imagine they are just as good!

I tried the Gyoza appetizer and an order of Chicken Yaki Udon noodles. No complaints on either dish. The chicken was very tender and flavorful with a nice flavorful sauce covering the noodles and chicken. The Gyoza were perfectly pan fried and stuffed with tasty pork and veggies. Good stuff. Definitely need to try the sushi as well as some other items of interest on the menu.

Bonsai might be new to Bristol, but it is already far and away the best sushi spot in town. Everything I’ve ordered there in my two visits have been pretty good, and I will most certainly be back many more times in the future! My last time out, I tried a couple flavors of Shirakiku a brand of Japanese soda. What makes it stand out from normal soda is the way you open it — there is a small marble blocking the top of the bottle that you need to plunge down with a small piece of plastic that comes attached to the bottle cap. I’m not quite sure what it actually does to the soda, but it’s a cool gimmick and the flavors I had(strawberry and orange) were actually pretty good. I’m personally a huge fan of pan fried dumplings, and Bonsai doesn’t disappoint there, especially with the dipping sauce that accompanies them. I opted to go with the bento dinner box, which includes a teriyaki roll, California roll, miso soup, salad, and the choice of two options from a list of about 15 different rolls and sides. I went with the dumplings(of course) and a sweet potato tempura roll. All of that only cost about $ 16 which is a great value! Along with that dinner special, Bonsai also has happy hour and lunch specials, all at great prices. Overall, if you’re in the mood for sushi, look no further than Bonsai in Bristol!

Just went for dinner there, left and the wife and I were sick! Teriyaki roll was so fishy it was inedible. The shrimp tempura roll tasted stale, the peppered tuna specialty roll was so salty it was obnoxious. All said the worst sushi we have ever had!

We wanted to try this place based on positive Unilocal reviews. The décor inside the restaurant was very nice and they are clearly trying to go for a higher end look, which I appreciate. Service was great. I would recommend their rolls, which were delicious. My boyfriend had the bento box, which he enjoyed. Just don’t order the salmon. Oh yea, their chicken fried rice was very good as well. We will be back, just hope business gets better since it was only us and another couple on a Friday night!

I was a little nervous to try this place because I haven’t seen many cars out front since they opened. SO glad we went for dinner tonight. The tobiko and ikura were extremely fresh. The presentation was nice, and I’ve never had such thick pieces of sashimi. We got the 36 pieces of sashimi for two. It was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. The restaurant is very clean. I have a feeling this is our new go to sushi place. Check it out!

In the middle of Bristol is this small Japanese restaurant that does simple rolls. The offers are fresh and what you expect in an Japanese American joint.

Dinner at the new place Bonsai on Route 6 – definitely recommend! I got the dinner bento box with Teriyaki Roll, California Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Philly Roll… plus soup and salad for $ 16! Also had the lunch special – any 3 rolls for $ 12 plus soup and salad. Great price and it was very delicious. Only complaint is the avocado was a little over ripe, but otherwise everything was spot on. Great addition to Bristol.

Clean simple atmosphere. Not very Japanese or sushi style, with many tv’s playing. But I guess that’s what’s the vibe around here. Nice pleasant service, and the restaurant is dead… 830 on a Friday. Rock shrimp tempura is nice… Slightly heavy on the batter… Sushi pizza was great. Mostly the sushi has great clean flavor. May need a little more spice here and there but I’m sure that will come with time. We will be back for sure. :-)

A small, hidden gem in Bristol, CT. It has great specials from 11am-4pm on sushi rolls and some appetizers. Everything was made fresh, the server was very polite and it was a fairly quiet restaurant. I had the opportunity to try the naruto, rock n roll and the green dragon roll, both very delicious. The rock n roll has eel and cream cheese(any roll with cream cheese is amazing!), the green dragon roll had eel and avocado(I’m a sucker for eel), and the naruto roll contained tuna, crab, and was wrapped in soybean paper, it was the only roll I had that did not contain any rice, all very fresh and delicious. This restaurant is not easy to find, so double check on google maps and your friend who has been there before to find it. I was here for a visit and forgot the exact location.

Good lunch specials. They mixed up an order by number. I was hoping to be in and out quickly since I called half an hour in advance. But still worth a try. This is my second time here since their opening. I will be back again for more sushi. 5 stars if I walked in and out in a few minutes.

Four of us went try this newly opened restaurant and were really pleased. The place is very cute inside with black and purple décor. We All ordered sushi and the chefs seem enthusiastic about their creations. They even took pictures before sending out my friend’s plated spider roll they were so proud. They serve mostly beer and wine with a limited liquor selections so don’t expect a scorpion bowl. Happy hour is not what it says on their website so beware. However, looking forward to going back and trying more rolls.
