Great fried chicken, beats KFC any day. Sides also have great flavor and are tasty. Deduction for the horrible hours. I can’t count how many times I’ve had company over, and pondered what to order, but Greer’s was closed because it was 7:30pm. LOL, Oh well.

This is by far the BEST fried chicken you’ll ever have. KFC and Popeyes can never compare to the homemade, always fresh chicken. The chicken sandwich is also amazing!

This place was absolutely delicious! Definitely a small hole in the wall place, take out only. You really get your money’s worth here! Plus the chicken didn’t taste soggy and greasy it was light and crispy just like it should be! The mashed potatoes and gravy were awesome too. Definitely stop again if I’m In the area. Wish they were closer!

We had a craving for fried chicken and saw this place was well-rated. A bit out of the way, but the drive was worth it. Very good fried chicken with a nice, crispy, thin batter. It was pretty busy, but the wait was reasonable and the chicken was piping hot. We will definitely be trying Greer’s again.

We’ve been here twice, once in the summer & once yesterday(December). We really enjoy what we’ve had here, so far! Our favorite is the chicken breast. Great crisp outer skin, solid flavor. The meat seems more on the drier side– which I prefer. The drumsticks are good too, but definitely a lot more moist. We got a medium order of the fries, you get a really good amount(quart container) for the price. They’re crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. I definitely recommend getting salt added on them, otherwise they’re really bland. The onion rings(also in a quart container, one size) were excellent. Great flavor– easy to bite into. Greer’s itself is super tiny. Enough room for a single line of maybe 10 people. Employees have been friendly & knowledgable.

God, I was looking forward to this place. I finally made it there today. I pull up to this, off the beaten path, whole in the wall, small divey place about the size of a garage. It had home run written all over it. I enter with excitement and order some Buffalo chicken bites, a 16 piece(that becomes 20 for same price yay!), and a half dozen of the fresh bt aked rolls from the bakery down the way. The chicken is fried to order and has a thin layer of crispy skin when done. I prefer a thicker batter on my chicken but I can look past this. The Buffalo chicken bites were good. I destroyed these in a few minutes. The rolls are ridiculously good. Soft and melt in your mouth. Ahhhhhh, I love good bread. Gluten? Yes please! Now, the chicken. It was good not great. I think that do to all the hype this place gets, it was built up very high for and failed to meet my expectations. I took down 5 pieces. Hey, I was hungry, ya know? The rest is to go for the fam. Now here’s where the story takes an unwanted turn. About an hour and a half later, my stomach is talking to me. Talking hard That Montezuma’s Revenge talk. It’s now 9 hours later… I haven’t stopped. Here’s the kicker. My wife had the chicken for dinner. Her and I are now in the same company. She then says«throw the rest of that chicken out». I laugh and toss it. Maybe I had a bad batch, but I’m all set. Good luck.

This small hidden gem is finally getting the attention it deserves. Very small place with two chairs inside so I recommend everyone order take out. There is a picnic table outside but I don’t think it is used much. My brother and I discovered this place but I was the first to try it! I finally found a non-chain place that serves fried chicken that tastes just as good as Popeye’s fried chicken! I got each piece of the Southern Fried Chicken(Breast, Drumstick, Thigh, and Wing) to get a rough idea of how each is cooked here at Greer’s. To my satisfaction, they all passed the test! I was even skeptical about the chicken breast but it was still moist and juicy. The thigh was unbelievable, reminded me of Popeye’s. Greer’s chicken is barely greasy but still retains the moisture. One downside is I wish the skin had more flavor, it was a little bland but the meat made up for it… besides everyone only cares about the meat! I also got the ½ pint macaroni and vegetable salad. Yum-yummm Other recommendations: Buffalo and Honey BBQ Chunks. I am not a buffalo and honey bbq fanatic but once I tried these I said«OHWOW.» No further words. Mashed Potato & Gravy. This will have you bouncing off the walls, so creamy and buttery. No annoying clumps. The gravy just adds another foundation of creaminess, it’s like diving into a bowl of pudding. 8 Assorted Piece Southern Fried Chicken so 2 of each(Breast, Thigh, Drumstick, Wing) Might I add they also sell a large bottle of NATIVERAWHONEY. My friend bought one to try and loved it. Get your honey here instead of the grocery store! Can’t wait until my brother gets to try this place!

This spot is super popular with the locals. Situated on a semi-residential block with homes directly across the street, stands a quaint little shack that resembles one of Adam Richman’s pre-game food stops before starting his Man Vs. Food challenge on the Travel Channel. As we walked into Greer’s, we were greeted very happily by this young guy behind the counter who energetically asked us if this was our first visit, we both responded with a resounding, ‘Yes’. ‘Young guy’, then proceeds to give us a rundown of some of the items off of the menu board and includes that all items are fried to order… you can’t get any fresher than that. Listed on the menu are other non-chicken items such as cole slaw, plus potato and macaroni salads. But, we stayed the course and only ordered the fried chicken of which we chose the 8 piece assortment as well as an order of their fried chicken chunks. The chunks came in a pretty large, Chinese food takeout container, that looked to be either 26oz or 32oz, pretty large indeed. Accompanied with all orders comes a choice of two dipping sauces, any additional sauce will cost a mere .50 cents. We both acknowledged that it was a good thing we came early, as additional customers started to trickle into Greer’s making it clear that this spot is popular with the locals. The wait for our food was much faster than expected, considering everything was being prepared to order. There are two chairs for sitting and waiting, but no main seating area to eat your meal. So after a quick exchange of funds for the goods, we thanked ‘Young Guy’, and headed to the nearest broad opened parking area to sample a few pieces of our order. Out of our two items, we really enjoyed the aptly named chicken chunks. They were fresh, thick and tender breast meat, that were seasoned very well to the point where they hardly needed any sauce. The fried chicken was good, but I would opt out and stick with the chicken chunks, if ever in Bristol again. After having our quick sampling of each of our items before our long ride back home, it was easy for us to see why this homemade-type of down south, feel good, fried chicken juke joint called Greer’s has a following. Happy that we took the time to visit Greers. Keep up the good work!

Stopped in today for a lunch take-out. 8pc fried chicken for $ 8.99, small side of macaroni salad and a medium side of mashed potatoes. Since we just moved from the Deep South, we assumed it would be hard finding good fried chicken in this area, but Greer’s Chicken is on par with the places we use to go to down in Tennessee & Alabama. Sides were decent also, loved the macaroni salad. Seems like a family run business, people working there were very friendly. We intend to be back, it’s only a mile away from us.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. This little Bristol shack churns out some seriously fantastic chicken, from chunks and nuggets to whole fried birds(not to mention fried livers and other bits & pieces). Rich, the owner, is a super affable guy and we had a blast chatting with him. Also, don’t pass up the sweet potato fries, they’re worth every salty, highly-caloric bite. Greer’s is a pretty perfect place for two things: takeout and warm weather picnics. There’s no indoor seating(and hardly any place to stand inside and wait) but adjacent to the ‘restaurant’, there are a few picnic tables shaded by trees, which is where I ended up eating. Definitely wish this wasn’t all the way in Bristol but I can absolutely see why people make the trek for Greer’s!

Definitely the best chicken spot you can hope to stumble upon. From the chicken sandwiches to the macaroni salad, to the onion rings and the chicken chunks, what’s not to love! The original batter is to die for. Great for catering or just to treat yourself for dinner or lunch. Owned by a great family so If you’re looking to support local/small businesses, check them out!
