My Partner and I visited Bristol to get away from our home in Providence on Friday Jan 15th. This was our first time there for lunch and we were very impressed. I have a restaurant in Central Florida and coming to our home here is my escape from the restaurant Biz. I have been recognized over the years for my French Onion Soup and it pains me to admit that Le Central’s version was the best I’ve had so far. I would love to learn the ingredients! I got the charcuterie board as an entrée. Nice selection of pâté’s, sausages, mousse & relishes. Very tasty & satisfying. Our other choice was the lobster BLT which was also delicious. I took our servers recommendation for their signature Bloody Mary, zesty a little heat & spice but very refreshing. Finishing our meal was the bread pudding, a dessert that is extremely popular at my restaurant. Light and custardy without being too sweet or dense. The croissants which are what I use in my dessert are what sets it apart from so many others that don’t match up. Atmosphere was cute and relaxing, Perhaps influenced by the Bloody Mary, will make Le Central my go to place for lunch when visiting Bristol, Chef Terry Doner

Very cute restaurant in downtown Bristol. Nice wine selection and affordable entrees, most of them under $ 20. We started with a charcuterie plate which was nice and delicious. There was some pâté, mousse, sausage, pickled vegetables, crostini, etc. I ordered the Cod Provencale and it was light, flaky and nicely done. My BF got the hanger steak and it was just so.so. Our friends liked their entrees… Lamb and chicken. The service was very attentive and prompt. It was nice, but if I am in the area, I would go to Eli’s for a tastier menu and greater value.

We couldn’t be happier. The food was excellent; on a cold nite we had coq au vin, served in a small pot, and boy did it hit the spot plus Hangar steak on a bed of arugula, with a side of crispy fries. Warm bread and soft butter: yum. Some interesting cocktails at a couple bucks below what other similar restaurants charged; generous portion, served in a martini glass, with the excess carefully on the side. Excellent service, with Edith Piaf in the background, made for a magical evening. All this, and a groupon to boot!

Loved the bistro setting. Our server was wonderful. We later found out it was her first night. We would’ve never have guessed. I bought a groupon which was easy to redeem and a great value. The food didn’t blow us away. If we re ever In the area again we’ll give it another try. But I can’t see making a trip from providence for it.

We went to Le Central again last night for a quick dinner. It was fabulous as usual, which made us wonder why we don’t dine there more frequently. We’ll have to work on that.

Another outstanding dining experience at Le Central! From the warm greeting when we arrived, our server was outstanding! She made our dining experience outstanding. Attentive and helpful, she helped us to make our dining decisions. We enjoyed the entire evening but our entrees: the swordfish and boullabaise, as well as, the crème brûlée and apple tart were particularly outstanding! This is an incredible restaurant that I highly recommend: excellent service, exceptional food, and a warm ambiance make for a special evening every time! Again thank you to our server for wonderful evening!

Dined at Le Central on Sunday. Most pleased with the menu and variety of offerings. Opted for a simple green salad(perfectly dressed), Mussels(exquisite presentation in a covered dish that assured steaming hot temperature and a delightful amount of thinly sliced garlic), and Frites. The bread is warm, the butter is room temperature(as it should be).Simply perfect. Always have had friendly, efficient service. I appreciate the music that they play is appropriate and definitely in the background. The décor and artwork is curiously eclectic.

So disappointing. Service was friendly but everything else was a let down. Ambiance is funky. Food is mediocre at best. We got the grilled chicken sandwich. It was dry abc lacked much filling. The tuna ceviche was a bit better. The best part was the bread and olives.

We had a early dinner at Le Central last night. It was our first visit and we chose out based upon proximity to the bike trail. Even though our dress was far more casual than the other diners we did not feel out of place.(side note, perhaps the owners could host a Tour de France night where cycling gear is mandatory?!) We shared a warm goat cheese salad to start and that’s my only reason for a less than prefect score: the spinach was under dressed and bland but the goat cheese on a sliver of bread was delicious. We followed with salmon nicioise(sp) and coq au vin, the latter being sublime! We split an apple tart and a port to close out the meal and called it a lovely experience; we’ll be back!

I went on sunday for brunch. Overall, they do a very good job and there was only one flaw that I noticed. Our server was great. She was kind, outgoing, and funny. At one point, she spilled a little of my fiancé’s bellini, but then brought us a little champagne to make up for it(even though she didn’t have to). We ordered quite a bit of drinks. The brunch menu has a surplus of champagne based cocktails. I ordered a mimosa, bellini, and a pomellini(champagne and pomegranate juice). My fiancé ordered a bellini and some sort of Chambord drink(I can’t remember the name). They used quality dry champagne, so none of the drinks were too sweet. They also used real juices, which is refreshing at brunch. They served us bread from Pan D’Avignon(Hyannis, MA), which was fantastic(as always). That was a great way to start because I was starving. For my meal, I ordered the Lobster and Mushroom Omelet, which was a special. The filling was lobster and mushroom in some sort of crème sauce. The mushroom and crème sauce combo was killer. The mushrooms were sweet while the crème sauce cut the sweetness with fat and salt. It came with a side of root vegetables which was perfect. The only concern I had about this dish was that it seemed that the lobster was undercooked(there was just something off about it). I felt that this was not up to the standard of the rest of my meal. My fiancé ordered Eggs Florentine(which she asked to add bacon to). It was like some sort of breakfast corn mac and cheese. It was fantastic. Worth a try if you stop in(add bacon, always add bacon). Also the Cinnamon Popovers possibly could be the greatest food creation of all time. I would say it is worth popping in in the morning, ordering some, and heading home if you want an incredible and cheap breakfast.

There are aspects that are a bit odd in the ambience, when you enter. But once you taste the bread, all those things fade away. Everything is exceedingly fresh and carefully prepared. We had clams, mussels and the lobster BLT — the meat of a whole lobster, obviously picked from the shell freshly in their own kitchen on a brioche that was out of this world. Service was thoughtful and friendly, above and beyond expectations.

Always Excellent Sitting at the bar or at a table — this has become our go to restaurant for a wonderful meal. Food is creative and never disappoints — the service is attentive and pleasant — the ambiance is comfortable and inviting.

This is a long overdue review. I haven’t had many meals at Le Central. I get there only a couple of times during the summer, but have done so for the past three years. Located at one end of the East Bay Bike Path, Le Central is a perfect spot to take in calories and hydrate after a 30-mile R//T bike ride. Food and service have always been very good. And as it happens, we’re always there on Sunday for an early dinner when they have very well-priced specials, including deals on local oysters and, last time I was in, steak frites. I also like that they don’t mind that we’re a little sweaty and have helmet head(from the biking). I’m on their email list and often regret not living in, or closer to, beautiful Bristol. I look forward to returning to one of my favorite regional bistros in the late Spring. Let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.

All I have to say is «duck confit with fennel sausage». This was fantastic! This was cooked perfectly to the point it just melted in your mouth. Not a lot of people around on a Sunday but it was awesome! Also, the foie gras with port jelly was on point as well with grilled French bread. I will be returning soon!

During a spontaneous getaway to Rhode Island, one of my dearest chums and I came across Le Central by happenstance and, gosh, are we glad we did! Our server was Brynna and she was top notch! The combination of her demeanor and her fine serving skills really elevated our already lovely experience. Furthermore, the food was«tres magnifique»! I ordered the duck confit while my friend got the coq au vin and they were each cooked to perfection. Scrumptious! The restaurant is laid out beautifully with decorative stars hanging above elegant white table cloths, and it’s just a minute’s walk from the gorgeous waterfront. Take it from me: you should give this place a try. Bön appétit!

Le Central, is just an easy little bistro that serves up good food without the fuss and muss of a trip to Paris. Clean, white table clothes, comfortable booths, big bright windows facing the sidewalk and most of the trusty entrees you’d expect on a bistro menu. I had the Caesar Salad which was delicious. The bread and olives that were served before the meal were very tasty. Prices are decent and service was good. PS. This restaurant is undeniable very French influenced NOT Portuguese.
