We had a dinner on Monday night for a casual dinner. The setting is very classy and elegant. The building has as much character inside as out. White table cloth, two sets of silverware, bread pâté and knife, very nice and sophisticated. We chose pre-fixe menu(wine, soup, main course, desert). Presentation was very nice. It was delicious, portions were very generous. Oh and finally, our server was very attentive. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I would like to try regular dinner, not pre-fixe.

We have been coming to Dewolf for years, 2 or 3 times per month, and for the most part have enjoyed it. Tried many entrees on the menu and frankly nothing has really knocked my socks off, there always seems to be one or two ingredients I wish weren’t in the dish. Always fall back on the naan cheddar pizza and the filet mignon sandwich with an order of fries. We usually arrive after 10pm knowing we can still order food unlike a lot of places in Bristol. It is mostly a local regular crowd that keeps the downstairs bar busy. Like a lot of other reviewers have mentioned the service at times can be hit or miss. We always sit at the bar and depending on who is bartending can run the gamut from great to no eye contact and having to wave the bartender down for another drink. One night we witnessed a bartender who got into an argument with a patron and he literally threw the bill at the customer. Another night we sat at the outside bar, handed menus and sat for 15 minutes without anyone coming back to take our drink order. We have had more positive experiences than negative which keeps us coming back. The interior is rustic and beautiful with nice water views from upstairs.

Not great… Got the philly sandwich… Made with shaved filet and comes with cheddar cheese, carmalized onions and horseradish sauce. The sandwich was tasty but was lacking in onions, overrun with cheese and had absolutely no horseradish sauce. Not to mention it was way too much bread and was seriously lacking in a good amount of steak. I’m disappointed because I was told this is a good place and that the sandwich is supposed to be excellent. The homemade chips were great!

We hadn’t been to DeWolfe Tavern in awhile and we really enjoyed our return visit despite a few bumps. The night was perfect for dinner at DeWolfe Tavern, a late summer evening with a slight chill in the air. We started with drinks on the patio, enjoying both our drinks(nice service and recommendations from the bartender) and the view. We then moved upstairs for dinner.(The first floor is more casual and the upper floor a little more special with views of Mt. Hope Bay.) We ordered a number of dishes to share: — Waiter was friendly but unable to help with wine pairing — All dishes came out together instead of nicely paced as we had hoped — Lobster popover was rich, special, just outstanding — Mussels were huge, unmemorable except for large size — Pork with tamarind glaze, cheddar grits and cauliflower Manchurian was the star of the meal — Also loved the side of Brussels Sprouts corn bread hash — Homemade cardamom ice cream topped the evening off perfectly. While there were a few bumps, we enjoyed our evening, the view, and the innovative food and will be back soon.

My sister and her boyfriend live in Bristol so we went out to dinner at Dewolf Tavern when we visited. It was an amazing dinner. We went on a Thursday night so we got a half price bottle of wine to split. They had a great wine and beer menu. We had the local cheese platter with house made jam and local honey which was excellent. I am vegetarian and the menu had a lot of great options. I had the naan vegetarian sandwich which was incredible. I love naan and Indian food so I love how the menu was so versatile and incorporated these foods. The Brussel sprouts with cornbread was awesome. The portions were large and I brought half my food home. Everyone enjoyed their food. The waitstaff was informative and attentive. We will be back for sure.

What a delightful Sunday lunch at De Wolf Tavern. Hubs started with a seafood chowder that I was afraid he would try to lick the bowl. I had three little neck clams that were fresh and well shucked and a fried green tomato topped with lobster and avocado. We both chose sandwiches made with naan. His was filet mignon with cheddar and mine was pulled chicken. Both came with homemade chips and were so generous that we took half home. The highlight of our meal was finding a cab franc on the wine list from a vineyard on Long Island that we have visited. Although it was a bit of a pricey lunch it was well worth it.

As always, DeWolf never fails to deliver great food with fantastic service. Our last visit, we started at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our well crafted cocktails prepared by Luc and Sandy. The«Comfort Zone» is amazing!!! Later, we were directed upstairs to a lovely table, and greeted by the most delightful waiter. He was on point and very knowledgable about the menu and Chefs features. We had the fried green tomato salad with the lobster and avocado, fabulous to start. Then we ordered the seafood stew as well as the swordfish entrée. All dishes were cleverly crafted and executed perfectly!!! Hats off to Chef Sai, and thank you Logan for a fantastic evening! Well done DeWolf staff, we will see you again soon!!!

Ugh, I probably should have just walked out. This is the kind of place for 60+ yacht crowd who doesn’t mind overpaying for being right on the waterfront and a «classy» atmosphere. The menu is odd(Naan pizza and traditional seafood??), it didn’t entice me to order any food so I can’t comment on that aspect. They do have some craft beers to drink, but boy are they a ripoff. $ 8 for a Foolproof IPA. Not a double IPA, just their regular old one, which is not what we ordered. They had apparently failed to change the tap handles or inform the staff that the keg was a different beer. I don’t know if we were charged for the double or not since the receipt just said«foolproof.» Either we got overcharged or they have ridiculously high beer prices.

This is a very special place: 1– Service is awesome. 2– I enjoyed some of their world dishes, like the Naan bread. 3– The place is just awesome, must visit while in Bristol again. 4– I was invited to a special lunch with partners in my industry(Hospitality), they treated us like royalties. Wow. 5– Clean place. 6– The Chef is awesome too, talented and knows what he is doing. Back soon. Especially this summer.

It really pains me to have to write this review. My husband and I have adored this place for years, but the service that we received this past Friday evening was so totally unacceptable that I feel obliged to write something. We sat down at the bar and ordered drinks and were then offered a menu. We ordered three appetizers/small plates. The service up to this point was great. Food was excellent as always. Once we got our food, things things really went off track. Despite there being only a few other people at the bar, it was difficult to get the attention of the two bartenders to even order another drink let alone any additional food(which we had hoped to order). We were finally able to get some attention to get another round of drinks, but the staff could not have seemed any more disinterested in getting our drinks or even making eye contact with us so that we could ask for a menu again. Two women to one side of us at the bar made similar remarks about the lackluster bar service. The main bartender seemed like this was the last place he wanted to be and spent the next hour talking(very loudly) to a man next to us about what kind of marijuana he liked to smoke and what kind of marijuana this man sitting at the bar grew and apparently sold. Meanwhile we were desperate to get out of there, but could not so much as make any kind of eye contact with the bartender to get our check, despite holding my credit card out in front of me rather obnoxiously. Finally, we had enough and my husband interrupted the conversation to demand our check immediately. The man with whom he was conversing belligerently turned to us and very rudely demanded to know what our problem was… continuing to make nasty comments to my husband and I as we scrambled to pay our bill and get out of there. Needless to say, I expect a lot more from a place like this. I expect excellent service, great food, and I certainly expect not to be belligerently yelled at by classless drug peddling patrons at the bar. We did speak to the manager and the host on the way out. Both were very apologetic and very nice, but I’m still not sure if I’ll ever go back to DeWolf after this experience. I really thought this place had a bit more class.

I just moved to bristol a few months ago from the cape. This place was like a taste of home. The dirty martinis were AMAZING! Blue cheese stuffed olives, i was like a kid in a candy store. I can not wait to go enjoy all the food i saw.

My husband and I were married at Bristol Harbor Inn, and the food/bar went through DeWolf Tavern. I was a regular there back when I lived in Bristol, and loved having them cater our wedding! The food was amazing(as always) and the service was perfect. I have never had a disappointing meal from there, and our wedding was no exception! Many of our guests visited DeWolf during the weekend, and they all raved about the food. Thank you for helping to make our wedding weekend extra special, and going the extra mile!

We went there for our anniversary and thought the food was ok — – my wife got an over priced steak and I got a salad that was fair and a chicken dish that was ok. During all this I had to wheather an incompetent waiter who first brought the wrong salad then made me wait 15 minutes for the right one and didn’t apologize or offer some kind of comp– what an idiot I couldn’t stand this guy, hopefully he is not there anymore. I talked to the manager on duty on my way out and I have to say she was awesome. She apologized for the incompetent waiter and offed me a comp. I was so impressed with her, we will give it another try.

Great view — Good Food. Let’s start by saying shore-side dining option in Bristol leave a little to be desired. DeWolf is by far the best waterfront restaurant in Bristol. I enjoyed the meal; the server was attentive and the space is beautiful. The Indian influences within the menu are refreshing and I enjoyed my Tandoori chicken. I would say though that the food did not blow me away, it was good but I feel this is an instance where the chef holds himself back to accommodate the palate of the average person visiting and dining in Bristol … that is to say the 60+ crowd. I wonder if I were to ask if they could spice it up a bit. I will alway pick Dewolf when dining in Bristol and unless you want to be sorely disappointed I would recommend you do the same.

Went here for a birthday dinner. We chose it because it offered seafood options for the grandparents and vegetarian options for me. To drink I had a blueberry margarita, while the drink was fine, it was mixed with Jose Cuervo(something I did not notice) and cost $ 12. Totally over priced. They had a special local cheese plate that was delicious, but sadly that was the only food we enjoyed. Two people ordered the Sunday lobster special, which came with a soup or salad option. The waitress did not time anything properly, so there was a wait for the cheese, a wait for the soup/salad, and then a long wait for the main course. One lobster was brought to the table, along with the Duck Confi, and Egg Fetichni. The waitress explained that the other lobster did not come with the side that had been ordered, so it was going to be a minute. Now mind you, the waitress came to our table during the soup/salad course to confirm that he wanted french fries in place of mashed potatoes. So we waited for the second lobster to come back. By the time it did all of our food had cooled. My egg noodles were fine, nothing special. My partner felt the Duck Confi was mostly bone with little meat. But the real problem was the two lobsters. Both had to be sent back. The meat was literally stuck to the shell, that’s how over cooked it was. The other one was rubbery and inedible. By that point we had been there over an hour and were fed up. Beyond that, dirty dishes were left on the table, drinks never refilled, a bus boy brought us bread when we were paying the bill, the whole thing felt like amateur hour. The meal was ruined, so I felt it should have been totally comped. We still ended up paying $ 70. Total waste of money.
