I came by for a pizza on my way home. Staff is very friendly and ready to help. Place looks great and clean. But the pizza was anything but good. Sloppy wet over sauced. What happened to the old max pizza?

I love Max Pizza. We drove all the way to their other locations while this one was temporarily closed due to fire damage. The renovations this place underwent only make it a nicer place to eat. Great for sit down or take out. Love their salads, too!

Some of the best pizza in Bristol, with their buffalo chicken in particular being my favorite — a great blue cheese flavor with pieces of real(unlike other pieces of chicken I’ve seen on pizzas before) grilled chicken covered in buffalo sauce. Can’t say I’ve tried any of their other food before, but all I’m really looking for from a place like that is great pizza, and they deliver on that front!

I haven’t been there since the reopening. I loved their eggplant dinners and grinders. The pizza was a little greasy. The reason I may not return is because every time I ordered from them, they would tell me 20 minutes and when I arrived they hadn’t even started making my food. One time I showed up after 18 minutes and the waitress said«oh you’re early!» Call times are recorded on your cell phone. Anyway, I stood at the counter for 25 more minutes before my food was ready. That was the last time. I guess I am not important enough to have my order ready or at least almost ready.

This place is a staple in our family. We live right up the street from here and that is dangerous. Their food is delicious and it is clean and all new inside. The staff know me by name and I love that I can walk in and just have my food ready to go without saying a word. If I could give them 10 stars I would!

So I overheard somebody talking about this place at a different restaurant last week. I decided to order six cheese pizzas for my sons birthday party for the first time trying this place out. Now most pizza places will give you a free cheese pizza when you order five or six pizzas. This place did not. When I got the pizzas home, and open them, they were all burnt. Just horrible. $ 85 down the drain. Never again.

Delicious as usual. My husband and I love coming here weather it’s to eat in or take out. Last evening we ate there. With in 2 minutes of sitting someone came to take our drink order which we received about 3 minutes later from our server(who had a great personality). My husband ordered a pastrami grinder, and I ordered stuffed shells. We both enjoyed our meals that came rather quickly. All the people who work here are friendly and helpful. I would and have recommended this place to any and all that are looking for great food.

I LOVE coming here with family. Truly the best pizza I ever had. Everything I have ever tried there surpassed expectations. Brought my son there a few times and the waitress made sure he was happy and brought him some cheese before our order so he could snack. Can’t wait to go back.

This is the type of place most of us who grew up in suburban towns in New England remember from when we were kids. A family kind of place where you can relax and hang out and share a big pie or call ahead and pick up your order. They’re pretty popular in both aspects, and that’s why the place is still here, doing it the same way as when we were kids. Their pizza sauce is sweet, and its better to get a large because you get a better crust, and they have Long Trail on draft which is a nice near-craft beer selection. My mom grew up in the neighborhood behind the shop and the owners have treated my family pretty well for about 40 years or so. Extra star for great hospitality. It’s good, solid, neighborhood pizza parlor fare. You’ll have a good time eating here.

The pizza tastes very good and is affordable. I believe its the best pizza place in New England, and can rival some parlors in the Big Apple. I have been eating Max Pizza since 1996, and the only complaint I ever had was waiting because line was too long. That goes to show you how good the pizza is.

My mom used to take me to Max Pizza to play Pac-man back in 1980… jesus I’m old. I grew up on Max’s pepperoni, mushroom, onion, green peppers and extra cheese. Probably accounts for my amazing figure 30+ years later. In any event, I have traveled all over the country and had pizza in just about every state, from dives in Long Beach, Ca, to upscale NY gastro-pubs. When folks ask me where the best pizza in the land is made, I say«the armpit of america» Bristol, Ct. and it can only be found, at Max. Greasy, golden crust, cut into squares… amazing toppings. Max is the kind of place you wake up in the middle of the night, in a cold sweat, dreaming about because it not only evokes the memory of good food, but of times with family that you can never have again. My hats off to you guys. You have my nod for best ever.

Been eating here for almost 30 years. Pizza hasn’t changed and is great! I love it for take out. Eat in isn’t the best but the pizza is what you are there for. If you buy 10 large they give you the next free.

Completely baffled by how this could be conisdered good pizza by anyone who has a rudimentary understanding of the art… Greek-style pizza is hard to get right, especially with that thicker crust. Ideally, it should be soft, buttery, a little crisp on the outside. Not tough, chewy, and Domino’s-esque, for lack of a better adjective. So yeah, Max Pizza reminds me of Domino’s, and that’s anything but a compliment. In fact I’d probably prefer a Domino’s pizza… at least it would be cheaper. I should also mention that I’d probably never think to sit down to eat here… it’s very, very old inside, and not in a dank dive bar sorta way. Consider take-out orders only if you plan to try their pizza. It’s not inedible, it’s just not particularly good pizza. The mere $ 2.00 one pays for a pepperoni slice seems appropriate given the quality of product received.

I have been going to Max Pizza since my first birthday, in where I had the restaurant’s FIRST ever Pizza Party! They opened in the early 1970’s where it was run by, and opened by brothers… including Alex, the owner. When you walk in you are greeted by hand-crafted wall painted murals done by one Alex’s family members over 40 years ago, and a map, from where people and other family members from all over the world stopped in for a meal, wine and a great time, in a pleasent atmosphere. While the pizza is the main event, meals are a decent size for the price. They offer great salads and other sides as well. Cheers!

Max is Greek style, thicker crust. Order it with meat and it can get a bit greasy, but it’s so good. There’s usually a $ 2 off coupon on the back of Shop Rite register receipts. Good service, and they’ve never screwed up an order. We’ve ordered pizza from them at least 40 – 50 times. It’s not really an eat-in place; more of a takeout.

I’ve been going to Max’s for Greek-style pizza my whole life, so I’m probably a little biased, but I’ll still throw my weight behind the place. Though the last time I ate in was about 20 years ago(yeah, I’m that old), I had a chance to revisit the place via takeout on a trip back from Seattle. It’s standard pizza that’s great comfort food with any number of toppings. The prices are fair(about $ 12 – 15 for an extra-large cheese), and if you come from a family of boys that eat like wolves as I do, you can collected the coupons on the top of the box(every 10 gets you a free extra-large!) Salads and grinders are also good but standard – you’re going to get iceberg lettuce salads and toasted buns with marinara sauce on your grinders, but again, it’s simple good food. I would have given 5, but the punctuality on pickup is not always great(I’ve had to wait 15 – 20 minutes after the noted pickup time). Possibly not the place to take a date, but if you’re having a pizza night and are tired of the standard delivery crap, it’s a nice change of pace.
