I’ve been to Tom and Susie’s many times. I love that they have egg bagels — delicious! I ordered their party sub for a going away party today and it was delicious. I’ve ordered online using their app and it’s always ready when I am there.

Great deli! Tom and Susie were both so nice and I loved all of their recommendations. I had the egg salad and it was delicious. It is one of the best I’ve had. I also bought some of their homemade cream cheeses and bagel chips. I’m excited to have found a good deli in the area! Looking forward to going back and trying more!

I came to this deli in August. My experience was mediocre at best. I walked in at 11:30 am. Hoping I would beat any lunch crowd and make a quick stop. I was the only customer and it took about 10 minutes before my order was taken because the woman kept having to go to the back to check out if they had what I was ordering. I was only ordering what they had on the menu. Then I asked if they made«bagels all the way». They didn’t know what I was talking about. By the time she finished taking my order, two other parties walked in. I waited close to a half hour for my order. During that time several other people came in and there was quite a line waiting to order. They were very disorganized and the woman was very slow and confused. It seemed like she was high. The food was OK, but definitely not worth all the trouble. I hope they have sharpened there systems and improved food. I would love to have a good neighborhood bagel shop that is really good and professional.

Parents from Long Island, NY came down for Xmas weekend so finally made some time to try Tom and Suzie’s. Placed order online and was already waiting for us when we arrived. The two gentlemen behind the counter were very welcoming and pleasant to talk too. We ordered bagels and breakfast sandwhiches and was pleasantly surpised how good all of it was. Even my parents loved it. Will definately go back again!

I came up here on open day – I was really syched we were finally getting a bagel place! I waited for eternity for the place to open up! I stood in line for a long time to get a dozen bagels that were undercooked and looked awful(anemic my husband declared them)! I thew them away they were so bad. I vowed not to go back for a few months in case it was because they need to break in to business, but I still held out hope that would improve. Fast forward a few months: I came back, and the bagels looked much, much, much better! I came in before Christmas and got a dozen. The guy said they would be out in a few minutes if I wanted to wait about 10 minutes. I did. They were beautiful! Soft, squishy, and hot! Lovely! Took them home, and my family ate them up(1 dozen in less than a week!). I came up today(about 4 days later and ordered 2 dozen and waited and they were great again! However, I noticed this time and(I had an idea about that when I got the 1 dozen a few days beforehand, too) that they don’t give you a baker’s dozen(13). I counted both dozens and there was 24 for the price of $ 13.20/dozen. I have NOT mentioned this to the owner because I counted after I got home – and I’m not about to run out and get 2 bagels, but I will mention it next time I go in. This area DEFINITELY needed a bagel place, and one that is decent, too. Tom and Suzie has other things than bagels – sandwiches, cream cheese, lox, rainbow cookies, black and white cookies, etc. Come, and try them out, it’s worth the trip and supposedly,(I haven’t verified this), but on Unilocal, when you look them up, you can get a black and white cookie, or a mini cannoli.

Disclaimer: I’m a transplanted NY’r who grew up in a family that went out every Sunday morning to pick up hot fresh bagels. I’ve now visited Tom and Suzie’s twice, but only to pick up bagels. Each time the service was prompt and friendly. The selection was quite varied. And the bagels were fresh. Compared to what I find in NY, the bagels are a bit smaller and not quite as crusty, but are still very good. I haven’t yet tried any of the sandwiches or spreads, but I’m sure that i’ll be back. Note that it’s largely a take-out place with only a few small tables inside.

I will still give this business a try but this morning I got a salt bagel, some veggie cream cheese and a large coke for $ 5.40! Seems a bit pricey to me, plus the bagel wasn’t cut in half…

One star because the service was horrible and the bagels where not worth the awful experience. I ordered one dozen bagels and some cream cheese on the side. I didn’t ask for any of the bagels to be sliced or toasted because I noticed how busy they where and I really didn’t want to wait. I ordered before a friend of mine(she ordered breakfast sandwiches). I stood there with her waiting for my order… at least 15 minutes went by. They called an order but it was my friend’s order… not mine. When I asked about the order, the counter lady asked me who took my order. When i pointed to this person, i saw him finally bag my order! I complained about the wait time and so did another poor customer who just wanted four bagels. After I voiced my complaint, I asked the counter lady for a plastic knife so I could at least cut my own bagels and spread the cream cheese for my patient family who had been waiting outside for their bagels. Instead of returning with a plastic knife, a gentleman with tattoos approaches the counter and asked if anyone had a problem. Really??? I didn’t know who this person was but it was clear to me that he knew exactly what the complaint was because counter lady went back to get him. Nice way to intimidate your customers. While we finally settled outdoors to eat our mediocre bagels.. intimidating tattoo guy comes out and lights a cigarette! !! I am all for supporting small businesses… but this place does not have my support! !!

I’m on the fence between 3 and 4 stars. I’d say it’s a solid 3.5. The bagels are good. Not a perfect NY bagel, but definitely good. I had an everything bagel, my favorite. It had caraway seeds on it, which is just not a favorite of mine, but that’s just a preference. It was a good, soft bagel. And true to my request, it was lightly toasted. The veggie cream cheese I asked for was good and fresh. No complaints there. Daughter had a lox spread on an everything bagel and she throughly enjoyed it. They even put capers on for her at her request. Other daughter enjoyed a plain bagel, lightly toasted with a strawberry cream cheese spread. It was very sweet and almost artificial tasting, but still yummy. There was enough cream cheese on her bagel to cover another one. We had to remove the excess. Not a bad complaint to have, though. I did order hash browns. I ate one bite. They were just gross. A mushy mess of under seasoned potatoes, but I guess you don’t come to a bagel place for hash browns. They sell Italian cookies, black and white cookies and rainbow cookies. They were out if stock on the rainbow cookies, so I’ll have to return to try them out. They’re my favorite after a macaron. We’ll see …

This place is great! I drove 45 minutes to come try this place. My husband ordered a dozen bagels with 2 cream cheese spreads the day before and they were so amazing! I came in this morning and ordered an OFFMENU item and they took the order with no hesitation at all. My breakfast was absolutely amazing and I’d be happy to drove here again any time! They do have a lot to offer for lunch sandwiches and I can’t wait to start trying them. The staff I though was very pleasant. The gentleman at the counter was charming and the owner is cool and down to earth. I have a hard time believing anyone who says the service wasn’t up to par, must be your attitude coming in.

Was just in and love it that there’s a NY bagel shop near. Sandwich selection was good and the bagels ate indeed fresh. Also ordered a piece of cheesecake after being told it was homemade. Best cheesecake I’ve had on NOVA by a long shot. It’s good to see tables outside and I was thrilled that Yankees paraphernalia was absent. Definitely be back.

Im rating them 5 stars, been there twice since last weekend. My husband and I are from NJ and it had been over 10years until something that has good bagels, porkroll, egg and cheese! YuM! I couldn’t find a place like that down here until I heard about this place. Sandwiches are great! My 8yr old and 9 yr olds kept saying how good it was too. I’m sure they cook on a flat grill top too. Took me 3 years when I moved here looking for a place like this until I gave up. I know people complain about the wait time but they’ll work out these kinks I’m sure. Happy and returning customers here! Best of luck to this new neighborhood deli!

«Meh, I’ve experienced better» puts it perfectly. Thanks Unilocal for the suggestion. We were very excited to go here. My friend and I literally planned out day around it. My friend had the Ruben and said it was very average. I had an italian sandwich and it was dry. And the owner gave me this look of death because I didn’t want LEttuce/Tomato on it. We went there on a day where the place had apparently had a power outage and couldn’t make bagels. The owners just kept complaining about it and telling us how much money they lost. Should have probably said«Yeah we had a little setback yesterday, but we’ll get it turned around and be better tahn ever». Attitude is important and their attitudes were terrible. Oh…and I don’t remember exact price, but I remember them selling Hershey bars for either $ 2 or $ 3. Either way, LOL. Little overpriced. And you’re a NY Deli, Hershey Bars really don’t cut it. Hope they turn it around.

Before I get chewed out by the owners for being a ‘hater or troll’, I want to preface this review with, ‘I REALLLLLY want this place to work out’. Seriously. We desperately need a good bagel deli in the area and I really hope they can work out all the kinks and get to real NY deli status. On to the kinks: service. It’s painfully slow. Even when only being one of 3 people in the shop. It’s obvious the owners have never done this type of thing before, but they have to get someone in who has, to show them the ropes as far as service. Next kink: the bagels. They are seriously undercooked. The last bagel I had from there was picked up by my mom who was visiting us for the weekend from northern NJ. Her immediate reaction to the bagels was, ‘Wow those bagels are not cooked enough’. She also said their deli counter was beautiful so point for T&S. The veggie cream cheese was ok. Honestly, I make Alton Browns recipe and it is insane. Wish they would venture out on different techniques for their veggie cream cheese. Don’t even get me started on their strawberry cream cheese. Serious turn off that it is made with Quik syrup. I mean, in this day in age when we are all trying to eat healthier the least you could do is use fresh strawberries and not some processed crap. Next kink: please make a coffee section. There is no reason why you can’t have the sugar and cream/milk out in front of the counter so all the staff has to do it pour the coffee and move on. I refuse to order coffee if I can’t make it myself. Unless you are making speciality coffees there is no reason why a customer can’t sugar and milk their own coffee.(Just like in every Ny/Nj bagel shop) Final kink: the way the owners speak to their reviewers. I get it, this is their baby and they are super sensitive to that. But they are business owners first and I feel the professionalism has flown out the window. If someone is a true hater/troll then they shouldn’t want their business. So just move on. The drama surrounding their FB page is stuff of soap operas. I expect that from bored housewives, but not from busy business owners. Please take what constructive criticism we give you and learn from it. Stop attacking. All you are doing is losing customers who truly want you to succeed. ***edited to add: because the owners love to ask this question. YES, I am from northern NJ.

When I give a review I try to be as fair as possible. I have read other reviews and I’m a little suspect of a few of the other 5 star reviews as it looks like they are friends of the owner. One of the reviewers is a troll on Facebook for people who give bad reviews. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. One of the responses that the owner left one of the reviewees about going to McDonald’s was completely out of line, especially when running out of bagels is the number one thing you shouldn’t do if you are a bagel shop. So much for the customer is always right which is what he said in an interview with Bristow Beat. Additionally the tip stated that there were knishes, lasagna, and bialy’s, all of which I didn’t see on the menu. That said, here is my take on the actual store. Bagels = they had a good chew to them and they were moist. I tried an everything bagel and it was way too salty and I like salt. I also tried the sun dried tomato bagel and it was ok. There didn’t seem to be that much flavor. Cream cheese = it is actually quite good but at the same time a little pricey for my liking(a shade over $ 5 for a half pound.) I get it though, the cream cheese is homemade so you pay homemade prices. Customer service = they weren’t completely unfriendly but they could have been more helpful. They could have done an explanation of the menu or let people know where everything is located. Ambiance = I get that it says NY bagel deli so there is no expectation that it is going to be fancy. If you have the expectation that you want to sit and eat breakfast there, you would be mistaken. There are only about 4 little tables. I hope that they are able to get some seating outside as it would be nice to sit out when the weather is nice. I want to come back there. I love small businesses. My family owned businesses when I was growing up and I know that it is hard work. However, you represent your community and when you begin to bash people who have legitimate complaints and have your friends troll bad reviews on Facebook, it makes me think twice about going into your establishment.

After being convinced to come back here because of better service; and in fact that the bagels are really good, I decided to give this place another go. This review is also coming from a NY/NJ transplant. They open early, so that’s a plus. The line still gets long, and people literally wait outside until it opens, so that’s a telling sign. However, they still move quite slowly, especially putting out their food. Maybe they need to hire more help, because if this place gets popular, they’ll turn people away because they can’t serve the masses. Anyway, I digress. I got a dozen bagels and two spreads. Came out to $ 25, figured it’d be pricey, you can’t find lox spread and whitefish salad here within a 15 minute radius. The bag was hot considering they were still bringing out the bagels. But the bagels are really good. Hot ones sadly don’t cut as well because they are too warm, but props to them. It has a lot of taste and they do a good job with it. Their lunch items are also a huge bonus. Royalicious in Charles Town is another great place I recommend, but sadly I’m not going to drive an hour just to get a dozen bagels. Maybe though for their pastries. And again, I digress. On the downside, their spreads are expensive and don’t hold well. The prices are generally very high, the bagels get stale after 3 days, and the owners were very cold and gruff to me, making me feel more like a statistic than a customer. My tips I guess are either to start baking earlier so that way you’re ready to feed the morning people, hire more help, and continue to make those bagels, lots of ‘em!

My wife and I are from the NJ/NY area and have transplanted here for my job. It was really nice to hear that there was a place opening that could bring down a piece of home. That being said. My wife bought me a Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese. To my surprise the sandwich was all egg, had swiss on it, and two half dollar size, penny thick slices of Taylor Ham. Anyone from up North will tell ya. When ordering a THEC you get the option of getting(SPK)salt, pepper, ketchup on it, and it comes with American Cheese unless otherwise requested. Although I can tell it was Taylor Ham… I have never seen it sold as small as it was. In fact I have never seen anything less than 2 or three(3 inch) slices on a breakfast sandwich. $ 7 for what your getting is outrageous. You can get a thick and juicy sandwich for $ 4.65 up in the city or Northern Jersey. What I’m getting at here is if one is trying to emulate, and or keep traditional, the tastes of «home». Those items should be offered how they are traditionally made, and charged accordingly if the person ordering wants to change said menu item. Second item my wife ordered was Mikey D’s Italian Hero. Good Hero, only one thing. the skin on the salami is not conducive to being on a Hero. Maybe soak it for a couple hours so the whole slice doesn’t come off in one small bite, because the skin is too tough. Third. The Bagel. You’ve cornered the market on those. Keep’em coming. Please don’t take offense to this review, but you know how serious we are up North about our THEC sandwiches for breakfast. The sandwich tasted great, but it wasn’t traditional at all for the price, and amount of ham that was on it.

This is not your everyday bagel shop. This cute little mom and pop shop makes the best damn New York bagels in Northern Virginia they are big fat delicious and the homemade cream cheese is beyond good. Every single day since it has been open, the lines have been long and the reason is their food is delicious. if you want to have a really good meatball sub then try Tom and Suzies. The sauce is authentic and chicken parmesan sandwich beats any I have had. I love that it is not a chain restaurant and Tom and Susie are the real deal, Italian and true characters stop by and give this joint a try

A great successful grand opening today. The line was coming out of the store. They had a few problems with their merchant services taking credit cards but hey, that’s not their fault. It’s to be expected anyway in the first weeks of opening a business. I bought a dozen bagels of my choice, strawberry cream cheese and chive cream cheese. Very very good. We also bought 2 General Herzsings Turkey BLT’s. Absolutely Amazing. Last but not least the bagels are phenomenal. It’s absolutely the best bagel I ever had. I didn’t know bagels were supposed to be like this!!! I highly recommend this place for both breakfast and lunch! Definitely stop in! You won’t be disappointed.
