Worst customer service I have ever received. He put DUCTTAPE on my camera and promised it would fix my problem and the next day my camera was already back to not functioning. Also he told me there was a $ 40 minimum for camera bench time and when I checked my bank statement I realized he charged me $ 400!!! I am 19 years old and the owner was clearly trying to take advantage of me. I am getting a full refund and will never return to this camera store.

So, after having a referral to do business with this camera shop; I went to the store and was ignored at the counter as the previous customer mentioned. I brought my Canon EOS Rebel in for a repair, and it is 95.00 minimum; which was charged to my CCD immediately? I was told that the repair could in fact be more? I picked up my camera, and was told there was an additional charge of 20.00 for a lens they had replaced. I picked up the camera and it seems to be working okay and thought well, I will let this go seeing as they were highly recommended. On to today, I have a small Canon sure shot that the lens was stuck in the open position. I go in to the store, and once again, ignored at the counter, finally someone comes to the counter and again, its now a 40.00 minimum charge to repair the camera, and its charged immediately! I explained that I in desperate need for the camera as I had a trip the following day to NYC and was hoping that it would be ready today. I got a call a couple hours later explaining my camera needed the whole lens assembly replaced, but they had a small canon camera available for 169.99 for sale(marked down from 249.99) I was aghast, thinking how is that possible, I don’t remember paying near that for my Canon I bought last year. So I went back to the shop to pick up my camera, that didn’t really look touched, and see this camera that was marked down? I asked if there was something that he could do better for the price seeing as I just spent 40.00 to repair a camera that was not repaired. He said no, that the camera he has was«on sale»… well apparently there was a «fool» stamped on my forehead today, because I went on line after purchasing this camera for 169.99 and being taken for 40.00 I found that the same camera is available at Best Buy for 69.99!!! Oh, you bet I will be back on Monday for a full refund; I will purchase a disposable for my trip to NYC tomorrow and I will be sure to let the same people who referred Benner’s Camera Shop to me, know exactly how I was treated & ripped off. The man working the desk tried to tell me that he had to «pay his employees»(referring to my 40.00) then wanted to argue about the analogy that I thru out like taking your car to be repaired, you get an estimate. In the cases where there is a charge, they take it off the repair… in this case, why not a little more off the camera? Totally uncool, unfriendly, flamboyant jerk with absolutely no sense of what it means to appreciate and work with a customer to RETAIN the relationship and build new ones. I will be sure to spread this experience. I let the first one go, and now its a double dose.

When choosing a camera, I did a ton of research on feature and brands, and when it came time for purchase, I selected Benner’s Camera Shop on Main Street in Brockton. I did so knowing it was probably going to be a few dollars extra, but I was comfortable that I was supporting a small business. So my wife and I were on a vacation of a lifetime, two weeks in Hawaii. Day 3 of a 13 night vacation, I thought I heard a click on the tripod, shift it and the camera fell to the pavement and yup — dead. First thing the next morning, I call Benner’s in a panic, he gave me some tips and nothing worked. Rather than purchase a new camera in Hawaii, the overnighted me a loaner. Try to get that kind of service from a website. Customer for life — thanks.

Poor customer service, low inventory of cameras. Should rename to «Benners frame and film shop, where we ignore you from the minute you walk in».

Being new to photography, and learning as I go, I bought a used«starter» camera from someone and wanted it checked out. I found this place on Unilocal, and even with the negative review, I took my «new-to-me camera» to this place this morning. It needed a few things(lens cap, new strap, new eye piece) and the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful. He explained their services, prices and even offered to do it within 24hrs so that I could take it with me the next day on my weekend trip to Vermont(I told him I’d come back on Monday). He explained their classes/prices and helped me as I looked through some new bags. While running other errands afterwards, I stopped in at Ritz for kicks & giggles and found prices of the products to be lower(not much), and the price of the classes to be more than double Benner’s cost. Yes… They were a little pricey, but I was very pleased with the customer service. Not only will I go back next week to drop my camera off to be serviced, I plan on signing up for the classes! Edit 05÷25÷12 Hubby got me a gift certificate for private lessons! Can’t wait!
